DAMIEN ZYGOTE
The Amen Family was the single most controversial group in New England's underground music history. The band was formed in 1996. TAF was known for it's shocking and unpredictable promotional antics. Many radio stations banned The Amen Family after receiving packages from the group filled with live insects, road kill & occasionally messages written in their own blood. Several self produced albums Starting with "Let It Begin" "Sign Of Our Time" "Rise Children Rise" & finally "Calling Out The Beast" circulated through the underground music scene all during the late 1990's. The group was infamous for traveling with Marilyn Manson's Dead To The World tour & later with the God's Guns & Government Tour gathering up family members along the way. The band was known more as a cult in Maine than anything else and didn't get any musical notoriety until 2004 shortly before it's destruction. TAF remains an enigma to this day and is probably most well known for being the band that spawned Damien Zygote.

DISCOGRAPHY *
Let it Begin (1999)
Sacrifice of soul (2000)
Sign of our Time (2001)
Calling Out the Beast (2004)
The Amen Family was a doomsday cult that formed into a musical group known for an elaborate stage show and occult rituals. TAF was an underground precursor to concept bands like GHOST and PRIEST. The group was founded in the late 1990s by Youth Pastor Ezekiel Uzziah, who believed that the world would end in a fiery apocalypse. To prepare for this event, the group began to perform in public, wearing ceremonial robes and performing occult rituals alongside their music. Their stage show was a hit, and soon the group was performing to large crowds. They were known for their elaborate costumes, theatrical lighting, and use of props. The group was also known for their mystical lyrics, which spoke of prophecies and predictions of the end times. The Amen Family continued to perform and spread their message until 2004, when their leader Reverend Ezekiel Uzziah disbanded the family. The group eventually faded away, but their legacy remains in the form of their unique and captivating music.
Through the imagination of artist Goth Ozgood and the mind boggling abilities of cutting edge Artificial Intelligence, TAF has been resurrected just in time for the apocalypse.

The Testimony of Hans Burger "I was a high school sophomore in 1999/2000 and spent quite a lot of time hanging around the early industrial-music message boards, especially the ones dedicated to Marilyn Manson. I remember hearing references on the boards to a mysterious entity called the Amen Family, who were... probably a band but perhaps also something more? I downloaded their song The Hollow Ones and heard a thrillingly ominous vocal and a dynamic arrangement that mixed elegant keys with pure white noise. Pretty intriguing stuff for a young NIN/Manson fan, and I ordered a copy of their first album, Let It Begin. When it arrived, the CD was packaged with corn silk and dead insects, and had esoteric signs scratched into the jewel case. I was more curious than ever. But nothing could have prepared me for what I heard when I put the CD in the player. I grew up as a big prog-rock fan -- my first musical hero was Peter Gabriel -- and this album took musical techniques and ideas from goth and industrial and noise and blended it into big, cinematic songs with structures so varied and complex that they felt prog. It looped weird vocal samples until they sounded like melodies, it built songs out of abstract hums and buzzes, it buried beautiful keyboard melodies under roaring white noise. Topping it all was Ezekiel Uzziah's vocals, sometimes preacherly, sometimes menacing, sometimes chanting, utterly earnest and heartfelt, a gorgeous keen that could spin without warning into a distorted blast. The fact that all this was clearly done on a minimal budget made it all the more impressive. It transcends genre labels and remains one of the most disturbing and imaginative and singular pieces of music I've ever heard. A year or so later I bought their second album Sign of Our Time and was impressed at how they'd evolved. The abstract soundscaping of the first album was replaced with a more consistent sense of melody, more ornate keyboard arrangements, and throbbing, pulsing live drums, but with all the harshness and passion intact, with songs that still sprawled and evolved with an instinctive creativity that transcended conventional song structures, and with vocals that still blended horrifying noise, beautiful croons, and eerie charisma. Everything I've heard by this band has oozed darkness and creativity and a particular kind of desperate searching spirituality that edges quite close to fanaticism. It's been great seeing all these old photos and clippings and press releases, adding context and atmosphere to some of my favorite music to come out of the deep underground. I moved for college not long afterward and stopped checking my mail and my email, so I never got to know their later work. I'm not even sure how much later work there was; I've seen bios that mention four albums but two of the titles might be the same thing, and I've only encountered definite evidence of the 2004 release Calling Out the Beast. This is the sort of band where even their discography is mysterious. But it's been gratifying, many years later, to see how Damien Zygote emerged as such a unique character with such an eclectic multimedia body of work, and continues to push new boundaries and explore new artistic techniques as Goth Ozgood."
