Calling other detailers as a customer is one of the best ways I know how to teach professional detailing communication skills on this channel! This time I decided to call a detailer who clearly knew what he was doing...
I wanted to call a professional detailing business with lots of reviews that was already established to see how they speak to their potential customers over the phone. I was surprised to find that this detailer actually tried to TURN AWAY MY BUSINESS! This is one of the best phone calls yet simply because the detailer on the other end clearly knew what he was doing, and spoke to me as a real professional.
Most of these "calling other detailers" phone calls are made up of detailers who don't do such a great job communicating their value, and we critique the call afterward to see the areas where their professional detailing business might be improved by simple communication improvements, but in this video we get to hear a detailer who in my opinion spoke to me the way that was just right for the type of customer I was.

this is the sort of things that detailers need to know I'm one of them, no problem doing the work but just how to talk or sell to your clients other products, keep it up 👍

Great vid. We own an exterior cleaning company in Raleigh NC. We started out with cars and are building our car bus side to do ceramics and maintenance washes only. We do two-3 a week so far and picking up more every couple weeks. Great info!

I learned how to clean the foggy whitish residue off the inside of my windshield here. Never knew it was caused by chemicals from the dashboard. Lots of good info on this channel.

I really believe that what makes a great detailer is not only the quality of the work but the level of customer service and communication and how to execute this to the client.

That shop should never turn down business nor say that coatings is their bread and butter. That company sounded so unprofessional.

When you say maintenance cleaning is that a exterior wash only or exterior and interior? I don’t think I charge much based on me living in Florida but I travel to people and use my own car also I set my exterior details starting at 40 then my interiors at 45 if they do both I do it for 80 starting off I hear others prices and I get discouraged and end up working for cheap basically really tryna nail down my prices in comparison to the products I use

Depending on the level of business you produce and how to handle circumstances that lead up to that call, you have to make decisions quickly. Coatings are obviously more profitable and I don’t see anything wrong with referring to another business. I’ve done it many times and It works both ways. Sometimes you’re actually doing the customer a favor. As far as “professionalism” sometimes talking to people as a friend is better than trying to act “professional” Sales is a people business, there isn’t a right or wrong way to do it.
