Callaloo
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Chrisal brings back memories of her grandmother's cooking with this callaloo recipe. While callaloo is a dish made in different ways with different ingredients across the Caribbean, they all share some commonality with the influence from our West African heritage.
Add pigtail or crab for another dimension of flavor and serve with rice, provision or even have it on its own as a soup.
Special thanks to Cuisine for sponsoring this recipe. Cuisine products can be found at Massy Stores nationwide.

This host has a naturally, friendly, infectious personality. This was so nice to watch. I can do the menu she mentioned too, just the Callaloo with some rice and stew chicken and I'll add some home made lime pepper sauce. The finished product looks amazing. 💯

Where have you been hiding Chrisal Martin? This was one of your best videos, she is very engaging, she told stories about the dish and her childhood memories, she grabbed the viewer attention, she spoke clearly as she explained what Callaloo is, no moment of silence, and she always talking about the dish and the process, most important she plugged the sponsor at the key moments, I could go on and on about this lovely lady; I think many will agree with me when I say we need to see her on more!! Great job ♥️🙏
I dont generally watch videos past 7 mins but I watched this here to the end. I don't cook nor do I like the idea of cooking either. This lady is inspiration.
Stew chicken callaloo rice and macaroni pie. Delicious
The reason why your grandmother took all sections of the leaf and threw away the stem, is because you are cooking with Taro leaf, which when cooked with its' stems/veins incorrectly gives you itchy throat. So by throwing away all the veins in taro leaf, your grandmother eliminated the itchy throat 'syndrome'-clever lady. Fiji Indians also have a similar dish like Callaloo and it is called 'Raro'. Leaves cooked in garlic, onion and bit of cumin and then added with cocoanut milk and left to simmer-delicious. So interesting to see various other vegetables added to your dish.
I love callaloo, just love it by itself! I'd drink it like soup!

"because it tastes good" is an excellent reason to add an ingredient
Love her videos! She is totally engaging and genuine. Keep using the Trini dialect girl. It adds the extra taste in the local dishes that you present. Blessings.
She is a delight to watch and listen to...made the experience special .. Her nature and spontaneity wins one's heart straight away. looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Thank you.
OMG, looks so tempting. I’ve always heard of callaloo from my Trini friends, but never had pleasure of tasting it. I just know that I’m going to enjoy this. I have a little challenge finding callaloo bush where I live in New York, but I’m going to look for it. I have to try making this mouthwatering dish that you made. I’m vegetarian, will enjoy it anyway. I love your spirit my dear. You’re a joy to watch. Thank you for sharing your delicious recipes.🙏🏽🙏🏽💕💕

Check Caribbean, Asian or Hawaiian market or supermarket...... ask for Taro leaves. If you're in the hot south you can buy plants online or in a plant shop and grow them yourselves. Or use regular spinach instead.
Wow! Looks like a Sierra Leonean dish called casava leaves 😋
I love your personality, it makes me feel like I'm watching/listening to someone from my Honduras. Nice video.😊
Endless flavour and spice in that "Chrisal" voice!!! For sure that Callaloo must taste delicious and full of flavour too! Recipe directions were were easy to follow. Full speed ahead lady!❤❤

Goodmorning Crisal and Badawi, i am. Watching this episode at 4am. First of all what energy your chef brings to the show, great execution. Those knife skills are BOSS. Hope to see more of Chrisal. Keep well all.
I am from your neighbour little island, Grenada. Have lived in the UK, on & off for most of my life and as I approach my dotage so long for Caribbean cuisine. Cassava, callaloo (soup) okra, salfish and bakes. So happy I found this channel & your good self. Just loved the accent & expressions, I nearly had a tear. Just gorgeous. Please present some more cooking recipes.
Greetings! Sista, I must say your Callaloo dish looks so DELICIOUS 😋...and easy to follow. And, might I add, your personally is the BOMB!! THE BEST EVER!! Real down-to-earth!! Just like home (country talk) and very comfortable and music 🎵 to my ears. Keep up the awesome good vibes. I will definitely try this (my vegan way). I will make a few changes to fit my taste. Nuff Blessings to you into the future 🥗😋💗

West Indian cooking made easy...Great job Chrisal. I look at your shows to improve my home cooking.
Beautifuly done 👌🏻 In India we make similar recipe with Spinach and other green leafy vegetables individually and all mixed together too. Ingredients are almost the same except for pumpkin and okra. We don’t use pumpkin and okra in leafy veggies. Excited to try this way of making leafy veggie dish. Thank you 😊
Excellent job as always! Macaroni pie and stew chicken goes best with Callaloo 🤤
Ilike your style of doing this dish I like the various steps you did. I think I know how to do this now, Thankyou so nuch.
The producer could real cook too! 😂👏🏾👏🏾

Yes Gyurl you Izah boss.......So refreshing!!!!!!
What a great vibe! Great personality.
One of my fav love callaloo will have with macaroni pie rice stewed chicken n Cole slaw just like my mom used to make ..
lovely video...make me feel to go make callalloo
You did an excellent job well detailed. I will try mine with smoked turkey
Great video! Sugar? Never head of that. The swizzle stick was all they had back then not because a blender made in more fine. Taking out the ribs of the leaves prevents people from having an allergic reaction it makes the throat and skin itchy.
This was a great video I jusr love the way you speak

Hi Chrisal, I love your videos you are so funny yet teachable. Now subscribed to your channel. I love the spagetti with tuna. Going and try that. I love how you make your callaloo but I learnt it entirely different from my mum. Keep up the great work on your food channel.
Well done Chrisal! Ah comin for ah taste! 👌😁
yes I used to take out the leaves from the ribs too but your a right, no one has time for that anymore. Now you can get the bush already chopped at the farmer's market
