CALL THE MIDWIFE! ...stuck lambs, backwards lambs, bottle lambs and foster lambs. Vlog 778
Call the midwife!!
Although lambing is going much better now that our lambs are full term, I still seem to have to have eyes at the back of my head to make sure I don't miss anything!
Due to SO MANY MULTIPLES, I'm trying hard this time to foster as many as I can. Historically, I haven't done this well so I'm learning new tactics including one Mark saw on Instagram from our friend The Red Shepherdess.
We are over half done lambing, but the work doesn't end there.
We are trying new ways to train our nanny babies to make sure they stay strong, I'm still warming lambs that are weak when born, and we still have so many bottles being fed in the transition period between being with mom, and being on the nanny.
#sheep #foster #lambing

I am 75 yrs old, retired RN, not able to do much, but……I wish I could come and sit with those bottle lambs and feed them. I would be in 7th heaven. My schedule was always afternoons, so I’m a late shifter. I just love the babies.

@@anyagetman8596 Retired RN means retired Royal Navy I think. British. Could be wrong, could be they are in the London Ontario area. Doubt it though. I would fly over from Scotland to do a few weeks lambing if she made that available but I think Sandi would not want that. Strangers on the farm I mean.

Recommendation: BBB : Bottom Baby Brigade! Volunteers to feed the bottle babies. Maybe some of those awesome Vanlife folks who are mobile and could stay on-site but not be in house. A week or two could change their lives and the sheep babies lives too ❤. Free help .. all the hugs and cuddles. Just an idea 😊💡

Sandi, put a whiteboard on the back of the Nanny. You and Carissa can leave notes on the bottle babies immediately versus trying to remember to tell each other.

It seems to me that the mother sheep enjoy having the baby lambs. I love the sounds the baby lambies make. It's so sweet.
“It’s alive” squeaks Sandi! My favorite line!😂
I cannot express how much I appreciate your vlog. You show the good, the bad, the ugly, and the cute while being present and mindful. You show you care about your viewers by showing us what's real, but not trying to give us the 'shock' treatment.
It's always so rewarding when the rescued lambs in the warming box start to perk up and recover. Then it's also rewarding to see when a lamb can be successfully adopted by another mother. I love to see all the baby lambs. It's cuteness overload.
Congrats on all the beautiful lambies!! It's so beautiful to watch a Mom give birth on her own, and her babies just get up and nurse all on their own. Beautiful. I didn't realize how many moms need your hands on help. Great job you do Sandy. It's all so beautiful. Thanks for sharing

Thank you Sandi for continuing to bring me joy and a few memories creep in now and then. I’m not sure that anyone can understand my love for sheep. I fell in love with sheep when I married my husband, he worked on his grandfathers sheep farm where they had Shropshire’s and Oxford sheep. I got to nurse all of the baby lambs that either mom didn’t have enough milk or mom didn’t like them for some reason. There weren’t that many that needed the extra attention but when they did I was their momma and I loved it ! This was about 50 years ago so we didn’t have a nanny and I used a regular baby bottle getting up through the night to feed them. We kept them in our living room in an overturned baby crib and sometimes they escaped through the rungs on the crib because they were so small. Very fond memories for sure ! So thank you again Sandi for always being there and giving me memories that make my heart sing ! 🪻🌷💚🙃
I snorted my tea when you said Buddy White with the picture of Betty White.

thank y ou for all of your hard work, thank you for caring about the sheep, thank you for sharing the good and bad, and thank you for a down to earth view of sheep life. I feel so happy to see all of those lambs and soon my FAVORITE part will happen, the FROLIC , I call it FROLic when the baby lambs are big enough to romp about while the mom's are eating along the feeder sides, they go bonkers, racing this way and that like those flocks of birds do in the sky, huge swarms going this way and suddenly going the other. I especially LOVE LOVE LOVE when they suddenly leap mid run. its hilarious because then the ones behind will try it and some can[''t and other sail through the air. I grab a cup of coffee and watch the frolic over and over again.

There IS a bond between Sandi and these Sheep. There is a trust/hope bond. There is a TRUE Sheep/Shepherdess Relationship and it's BEAUTIFUL to see. They 'point out' their babies to her, they look at her when they are scared or need help, or they are tired with hope and relief KNOWING their help is there! If only humanity could mimic this love, hope, help, care, concern what a different world. Good Job Sandi, you are teaching MUCH MORE than Lambing, Sheep care, Working fields, you are teaching HUMANITY in a time where the world lacks it. You are showing Beauty in the Woman (yourself) INSIDE AND OUT, you are showing hopes and dreams, you are teaching compassion, you are Sharing family worth, you are teaching the value of friends, and how precious they are if your circle is large or small.... You are a true example of love and as beautiful as you are on the outside, Your Inner beauty RADIATES and for that, for YOU, I am Thankful! Thank you for letting us take this journey with you, WE are better people for sharing the ride. Be blessed, may your Blessings RAIN from Heaven and God continue to bless all your endeavors and may the beauty You share root in all our hearts and WE continue to spread it. You are amazing, ❤️
My heart swells watching you with the lambs! Just incredible!! 💞💞
It’s crazy the difference in size of the sheep. A skinny one will have 5 lambs and a huge one has one. Very interesting.
I think Piper needs a few more lessons in barn etiquette. Kinsey has matured in to a great help, it only took patience and experience.
Thank you for the lambing videos, I know it’s exhausting but, we love lambing time so much! You are actually having a much better time of it than poor Cammy! The rain and cold is brutal, lots of deceased lambs in the fields every morning and a dog attack! He sees the beauty of indoor lambing now! You are doing great, the first flush always seems to be problematic but, you are doing great!💕🇨🇦
I ❤ watching the dogs enter the barn in the morning: Kinsey- I will assemble our to-do list and report back! Piper- Hello sheepies! I am here! Adore me! Lucy❤- Where and when will I nap today?❤

Our 2yr. Old granddaughter love your videos. The babies are her favorite. She mimics their sounds and she laughs.
That little "maaa" from a newborn just tugs @ my heart. The full-voiced "BAAA" from a ewe in labour who sounds like she's totally fed up with this GONG show makes me chuckle. "it'll be over soon, sweetie & then it's all good!" All those feel-good hormones! 💕💕
The black lamb in the starter pen is so adorable, it have like a diamond triangle shape white spot😭❤️
It’s overwhelming for you when so many are having multiple’s, but you are so hard working and caring, I just love your channel so much Sandi! You are one of a kind 🐑🐑🐑
That sheep that came up to the gate while you were talking to us was asking you for help! It’s amazing sometimes that they know they need help and that they come to you!
I’d much prefer watching your lambing! I always feel they have a fighting chance when you’re on it! 🙏🙌❤️✝️💞🐑
Some of those feel-good hormones spring forth in my veins & brain - I get such a sense of satisfaction when everything goes right. The lamb wiggles, mama licks, the lamb wobbles to its feet & starts hunting for a milk source. God's in His (Her) heaven & all's right with the world 🙏Hallelujah! 💕💕
Congratulations on your induction to the Perth Agricultural Hall at the museum, it is well deserved.
Thank you for allowing us to watch all those cute babies! ❤
Piper's getting so much better at realizing she's not the star of the show & it's wiser to back off than try to be the centre of attention! 😉💕💕
Sandi, I think that was the largest number of pens I have seen at any one time. Love from Mike. ❤
You’re just wonderful Sandi. I started watching 8 minutes after you posted and there were already over a thousand views. I had to come away briefly for a phone call, came back a few minutes later and the view counter is rolling so fast, over 5,000 views and 1k likes. You are so loved!❤ You’re just so gentle with your ewes. You’re more like a midwife, so empathic. I love that most about you.
Sandy, if I wasn't in West Virginia I'd be there everyday to bottle feed babies!!! I look forward to every upload you do!!!
I think it is important to note the positive effect social media has on progress in sheep farming. What farmers used to get when talking to the neighbor over the fence or at market, now flies around the world in real time via social media. It might not make a huge difference overall to the industry, but anything that makes a tired farmer’s life easier is going to help keep people farming, and therefore support the industry.

Thank you for taking the time to repeat your explanations of your rationale for marking lambs the way you do, using or not using PMSG and Q fever vaccine, your groupings for the nanny, etc. Every video you make could be someone’s first exposure to your site, and it’s those explanations that are so valuable to people just starting out with sheep.
I'm probably the only one here who doesn't like lambing videos. I'm just too soft-hearted for the realities of life. I like to see when all the lambs are sorted and it's just fluffy cuteness running around the barn. I could never farm animals, I can barely thin seedlings! Thanks for being stronger than me.
