CALL ME BY YOUR NAME - Berlinale 2017 Press Conference

Фильм және анимация

Berlinale Press Conference, February 13, 2017: André Aciman (Author), Peter Spears (Producer), Esther Garrel (Actress), Amira Casar (Actress), Armie Hammer (Actor), Timothée Chalamet (Actor), Luca Guadagnino (Director, Screenwriter). Moderation: Vincenzo Bugno.

Tim is a very smart guy. I wish the journalists weren't so lazy with their questions; almost none of them was really prepared for the occasion and ends up missing opportunities. Esther and Amira played important females roles that add to the character played by Tim, but they were ignored. Questions were repeated, like the last one. Journos: prepare your stuff like it's always going to be online and is going to be seen, because it will. Have respect for audiences.

I honestly think that Elio's mother knew about the relationship going on between them for a few reasons, one is when her and Elio are talking together and she ask "you do like him? Oliver?" And Elio replies "everyone likes Oliver." And she specifically says "But I think he likes you, too more than you do." "Is that your impression?" And she admits that Oliver told her. Then there is the suggestion that Elio go with Oliver saying that "it would be good for them." And the various glances she gives Elio after Oliver leaves the table. She definitely knew what was going on especially during the phone call the way she looks at Samuel after they get off the phone so Elio could have his privacy with Oliver. So I truly believe both of them knew exactly what was happening whether it played out in front of their eyes or not. They knew those two were falling in love with each other and it can be said for our own parents as well. We may think they don't know what's going on but they definitely do because they are sneaky like that but for Annella and Samuel they respect Elio's privacy so they stay quiet for the most part and just give subtle hint that they know as I mentioned above as for Samuel it come in the form of his speech. "You're too smart not to know how rare, how special, what you two had was." They both knew Elio and they were okay with it.

There is another hint that Mom and Oliver had already talked about Elio early on. When Elio tells Oliver that his mother was reading them a 16th century French novel, Oliver knew right away which story it was - about the knight and the princess who liked each other but wouldn't talk about it. How could Oliver have known instantly which book Elio was talking about, unless his mother had already talked to Oliver about it too? And another clue is when Oliver was swimming in the pool while Elio was pretending to read his music, and Oliver asked Elio what he was thinking about? Elio said "Private stuff" and Oliver said "Does that mean you're not going to tell me?" (Like the knight and the princess who don't talk to each other.) And Elio says "I'm not going to tell you." So Oliver says to Elio's mom (who is picking peaches in the background) "He's not going to tell me what he's thinking about..." and Mom says, "Elio...." like she's scolding him a little bit. Oliver says "Then I guess I'll go hang out with your mom..." So Oliver and Mom have already been talking about Elio, even though Elio doesn't know that.

The one thing I've always hated about seeing celebrities go through these press junkets and get treated like puppets. "Move here, go there, smile, stand up, sit down, turn, smile, pirouette, dance puppet... Dance!" Haha... Please for the love of God. Just let them be free to pose as they like and take the damn pictures. But, I guess it all comes with the territory of being famous. I can imagine that it does get tiring at times and they breathe a sigh of relief after it's all over with. But, with each and every project.... "Here we go again!"

Mary Green I think the complete opposite. Love the both of them but timothée has an air of je ne sais quoi and an elegance regardless of the hairstyle he has that draws the eyes of the room to him even when he’s standing next to a 6,5 giant. In comparison, armie just comes off as lacking elegance just by consequence of being in timothée’s presence.

The entire time, I was looking solely at Timothée, and I like Armie. In terms of longevity, Timothée has proven the test of time. His career has taken off. He's the most talked about young actor in Hollywood. He's about to star in the most anticipated movie of the year, Dune, heading a star studded cast of actors. The photo sessions remind me of videos where kittens look side to side at a feather toy - or watching a tennis match. L R L R L R What a pain in the ass - but I do love Amira's shoes! They look like shoes from old Jackson 5 cartoons. Go 70's!

I am an Indian, I watched this movie with my family on tv. Good thing about our indian censor board, they cut all the intimate scenes from the movies. Since there was no intimate scene, I was not uncomfortable. 😂
