@@user-pt2wg8kz1oIf you're talking about the sex change as a matter of gender identity, it works a bit different with fish. The fish in question will literally change their sex, genitalia and all, and the effects of it affect their whole body. Another example of this kind of thing is the inverse, clownfish, which are all born in the sex male, but one becomes female when it's needed in the group for breeding purposes. It's not a matter of how they identify, but moreso about procreation and keeping up the population. I hope this helps! :D

Clown fish do this but in reverse. When the one dominant female in the area is removed, the largest male changes sex and takes her place. So technically, unless they introduce a female clownfish to the series, Nemo's dad is going to hit second puberty

Technically it is a second puberty. Clownfish start with underdeveloped male and female gonads so first puberty is the maturing of the male gonads then second puberty is the loss of male gonads and maturation of female gonads

We had a bantam hen do this. She didn’t change genetically or anything, she was still biologically female. But she took on male characteristics when our rooster was taken by a raccoon. Her comb grew, her tail feathers got longer, and she started to crow. It was really amazing to see.

In terms of biology that's exactly "pretending" - y'all are not turning into males/females for reproduction purposes (like these fish do), you're just mimicking the behavior and appearance of the opposite sex to be treated as such - that's a social adaptation, not biological. No hate intended, it's just what it is.

In humans it is not natural because you are still relying on artificial chemicals that were made in a lab. In fish, amphibians, and other animals, they literally go into hibernation, like a cocoon. I don’t see any humans hibernating and then suddenly becoming a female or male; they still depend on surgery, something artificial.
