This should be national news. It’s crazy to me how msnbc and cnn won’t even dare to talk about the issues happening in our state.

I know this sucks for people, but its simple economics and risk assessment. No company will take way less than 1% of the rebuild costs of a house as a premium if the chance they will have to pay out that rebuild costs is now assessed to be much more likely or almost inevitable as global warming continues. This will lead to a big drop in house values and the risk of living in such a nice part of the world will be on the home owners.

You will have to go to CA Fair Plan (of course its the gov) for Fire in "at risk" fire areas. 500k home fire coverage starts at $250/mo+ with a ridicululous deductible. Got to love the wild west. 😊😊🧂🧂

Good luck getting a quote from FAIR Plan. They need time dated photos of the property and it's roof. While the roof photo may be possible on a single story ranch, almost impossible on a 3 story without roof access. You need an 30+ foot extension ladder or someone with a drone. If they don't like a photo, it's back to reapplying from step one.

For a 500k plus home what do you expect? Your gonna have to a nose dive in home value in order for things to be tangible again.

I got dropped by Nationwide and had to go to the insurance pool as our idiot governor did nothing, thank goodness state farm took me back, and I live in a city not rural...

So let me get this straight. Insurance companies are happy to take your money as long as you don’t need them , but after you’ve paid into it with hundreds of thousands of your dollars , they dump you when you actually need to use it. We ought to just pay FEMA instead of these insurance companies

California regulators won’t allow companies to increase rates due to increased costs which makes offering insurance in California unprofitable. They will pay out claims for existing policies. They will not renew or take on new risks in the state due to regulators refusing them to offer prices that would allow them to make a profit.

Probably a good time for those in the rural areas to sell and leave the state. I can only see rates increasing resulting in the reduction of property values.

I live in a city and was cancelled by Nationwide, they are not on your side, and the fair plan sucks...and our Governor does nothing pathetic that San Francisco and LA drive the politics in this state

My neighbor’s tiny little home with a carport and no garage just sold for $990,000 because it’s by the river just outside Sequoia. It was built by the owner right after WW2 and he and his wife died years ago. The people that bought it were never here and it hasn’t been maintained. She died so he’s selling it. The sign went up less than a week ago and it’s sold. The KNP Complex fire consumed all the fuel. This area hasn’t been this fire safe in nearly 40 years. All the Fire and Access roads have been refreshed, and mapped. CalFire has NEVER lost a home in our town to a wildfire. Never not once. And we have a 3,000 square mile backyard. MOVE WHERE?

Allstate & State Farm, other insurance companies are inpart the cause of the increase in wildfires. A lot of mountain had been sliced and diced to build home on them with insurance companies like Allstate & State Farm as their home owner insurance coverage.

So, this is related to the voter proposition. Be careful what you ask for.
