California Fishing - Bishop CA. We had a great time fishing in Bishop CA. We caught several fish using Powerbait and Nightcrawlers. This was a 5 day fishing trip and this is day 3, will be adding more fishing videos soon. We had continental breakfast in our Travelodge Hotel and then headed out to Pleasant Valley Reservoir in Bishop CA, and we had a fantastic fishing day! We took our bikes to the boat ramp area which is about a mile and a half down the road. Beautiful views, gorgeous scenery and crisp clean air. The reservoir is large, you can throw your line out really far out in the water. We went fishing with Alex's Brother Nick and Nephew Vincent. We all had a great time fishing, but not too much action that day.
We caught 3 fish that day and decided to bike back in the dark, luckily Alex and I have headlamps that we bought on Amazon which makes the bike ride back a breeze. We stayed at the Travelodge and they provide a really nice area to clean and gut fish, as well as a nice freezer to store them all in. Alex and his brother cleaned all the fish. We then headed out to grab dinner with Alex's best friend Adrian. We went to Wanaaha Casino to eat Prime Rib but they ran out, so we got other yummy food instead and also played our luck a little. They give you free play money if you have a valid fishing license, and if you sign up to for their free Players Club membership. Since it was my birthday month, they also gave me $15 free play money too. We then decided to call it a night so we can wake up early for the next day of fishing! More videos coming soon.

Suzy, you make me laugh when you say you get just a little excited catching fish lol!! Heck, I would enter you in the county fair for "most excited fisherman" and you would take 1st place ribbon no problem! 😂... Just a little excited is an understatement

🤣 last year someone heard me getting excited and came over and said, I recognized you, I've seen your videos which is why I came to this fishing spot. 🎣 I never realized how much I would enjoy fishing, it's so fun!! Plus the downtime is relaxing and so beautiful.

Suzy, one more pro tip.... U might want to trade in the heavy duty saltwater rig and start fishing with ultra light spinning rod and reel for a more enjoyable experience when catching trout. Also.... Remember to reel in slowly, you're not in a bass tournament lol!! Enjoy playing the fish and reel slowly and keep the rod tip no more than 45°angle when landing fish. Happy catching!

Thanks for the tip! Will definitely try that. I know I get overly excited will do it more slow and steady. We had different reels but they got messed up (my fault I put them on the sandy ground and got sand inside) so we had to buy a couple in town and that's all they had left. Now I'm retired and still going up with my kids and my buddies from childhood. We all meet up and have a trout spank fest for 10 days twice each summer. We Basecamp at my condo in June lake. Great fun!

@@VacationingWithTheValentins and..... Never, Never set your gear in the dirt or sand, holy smokes!! Dirt and sand is a great way to destroy your trip. Find a rock or stump to prop your rod on but never in the dirt lol!! Or bring a rag or towel to lay the reel on.

I love your enthusiasm for fishing but as a pro angler I have just a small bit of advice. I've noticed when you reel in a fish, you really bounce the rod tip up and down like 3ft as you're reeling. This is not a good practice. Try to keep the rod tip quiet as you are reeling in and don't bounce it.

Thanks for the tips! I do get quite excited, and that sounds like good advice, as I have lost many, perhaps that won't give as much slack. Will be posting a few more videos from our recent trip, so I might still be doing that, but for my next trip I will keep that in mind. @@VacationingWithTheValentins keeping constant pressure on the rod tip without bouncing it will improve your catch and you'll have fewer lost fish. Bouncing the tip is a sure way to unhook a fish while reeling in. Enjoy the Sierras!
