I had a 1970 SS454 Chevelle in 1973, LS6, 4spd. Old lady hated it. She said the car goes or she goes. We went. Don't miss her. Easier to find a woman than an LS 6.

In 1969 I was serving my country in Vietnam. Each month dad would send me the latest issues of Playboy and Hot Rod magazines. The August issue of HR had an ad for the new, for 1970, SS 396. It was a two page layout showing a red, with black stripes, set at night, under a street light. I told anyone that would listen I would have one just like it when I returned to the world. In Feb, 70 I drove one away from the dealership. Red, cowl hood w/stripes, 4 speed, posi, white buckets. No luxuries like AC or PS. It was T-Boned by a drunk driver in 73

Beautiful car. I most appreciate that the owner allowed you to fully authenticate it and point out all the wrong parts. Most men would have too much pride and continue a false representation to a potential buyer. Honesty is best policy, worth more than gold and I highly doubt this car lost any of it's value because it truly looks like a gem.

I sure get my share of compliments. Just preserving a piece of 70`s muscle car history. GPN great work as always!

Greg Upole, 1970 LS6 454 Chevelle SS car would not be easy to find. We bought a red/black 1970 Chevelle SS LS6 454 convertible from an estate auction that had 3400 miles on it. Very mild restoration work done to the car. We paid $30K for the car. A few months later, we sold it to former MLB player, Reggie Jackson for $80k. We also sold him a black '69 Camaro Z/28 that was 100% restored correctly.

I remember when I was a kid there were about 5-6 SS Chevelles.all were various hp. and color. A brother and sister had a set at the same time. One was the Autumn Brown like this one started out and the other one was black with white stripes. They had the same 325 hp engines but the sister (which I later dated) could outshift her brother. He got ridiculed over that. Times were fun back then, somebody would yell race and a dozen cars would show. One road was marked for an 1/8 mile since it had a curve on both ends. The other was a quarter mile and we used them both. I remember talking a friend into racing his 69 Buick Wildcat one night from our home base, A small town Gulf station. We put a half gal of antifreeze in it. couple quarts of oil, a little tranny and brake fluid. It was ready. It always seem to run pretty good and had dual glass packs on it when he got it. I had to stay and watch the station for another hour and a half. It was about an hour later and here they all came back with Bullet (the wildcat) in the lead. He was top dog and had beaten all 7 of them in a big ole buick wildcat in the 1/8 th. mile.

IMO a block casting date of A 9 70 is way too early for an April, 1st week build date. Thats a stretch. Without a buildsheet it wreaks clone. Where's the original dash and parts? Where's the original rear bumper pad? Where's the original door panels? Why the cowl vent screens? Why are the wheels dated way too early? Guys sell matching dated SS wheel sets on ebay. Did you look for evidence of Malibu trim holes in the upper rear quarters and inside the doors? Is the rag joint a bolt on? Where are the original exhaust manifolds? Smog tubes? Smog pump hoses? Did you pull the carpet up to see if it was a factory bucket seat car? Any pictures of the car before it was restored? It just looks to be pieced together.

Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.!!! (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO laws)!!!! !!
