You and Cali deserve an Oscar for this video, "Man's best friend".

Has Cali ever seen that much water before? She is such a good dog, not being demanding.

I never put any comment on a KZread channel, not even once in my life, but I must say that, for me, this is simply YOUR. BEST. VIDEO. EVER. (and I've watched all of them). The wide and detailed shots, the camera setup for the countershots, the editing and transitions: perfect. And those views of the morning mist, the landings, preparing camp, Cali on the boat, Cali and the berries, Cali in the golden hour, Cali at sunrise, the wildlife and the bird songs, the beautiful ending! Without forgetting the clever montage: the underwater shots, the flashback to the garden, even the funny out-of-focus shots. I had tears in my eyes at the end of the video as it reminded me so much of my childhood spent hiking in the woods, and what I still love doing during the New Zealand summer, thinking that millions of people around the world, if not billions, would be yearning to experience this peaceful journey in unspoiled nature, away from war, hunger, misery, pollution or pandemic lock-down. I am sure that Dick P. is looking down from heaven and is smiling right now, certain that his legacy lives on...

What a fantastic comment! What a life! I am one of those who long for this. I'm in the US, but not under lockdown and am one of the lucky ones who is still working and my family is safe and taken care of. But, the pollution is one that I would love to get away from. It will be another ten years before I can retire. We plan to buy an RV and hit the road with whatever we decide to keep. I imagine New Zealand is a beautiful place. There is so much I have yet to see. I'm glad you are able to enjoy the beauty of the place you live and that you have those wonderful memories of childhood. These videos take me to a peaceful state of mind. Glad I caught your one and only comment! Peace!

Me too, I am a 70 yr old this year female and I would have loved to do this when I was younger. Now that I can afford it, I am not able to do it. SO, I love your videos and Cali. She is so cheerful and fun. That you are doing this is extraordinary and inspiring to many.

This is one of my favorite videos Shawn has posted so far (yet, i love all his videos)So much negativity going on in the world today. I love watching his videos, not just because i enjoy them, i watch them because they bring me so much calm and peace. The footage of the scenery and nature in his videos is absolutely beautiful!!

Cali has the dream life, she is one happy dog, they say dogs don't smile, I can see her smile. What a precious lovely pet she is, I think she has her own fan base now, I am one of them.

I do love the guitar instrumentals throughout your videos but you could slip in some of your banjo playing here and there Shawn.

Excellent sound recording ~ even with my eyes shut, the sounds cast perfect scenes of paddling, rod and reel, beaching, unloading, setting up camp, wood collecting, Cali crunching a meal.... the wildlife sounds are outstanding including the mosquito high pitched buzzing but most of all, it is the lapping of the waters that give a sense of ultra serenity with eyes opened to watch the clouds drift by. A beautiful video with two very happy campers❣️Thank you so much for sharing Cali’s first overnight camping and canoe trip.

Unreal, for me, a city boy, to see this little red canoe out on this huge body of water all by himself, not another person to be seen is wonderful for him. No One Else but him on this lake. It is all his to do as he wishes in terms of where he wants to go and fish. Wonderful Jimmy, so wonderful for you.

I started watching this video with about 300 views. 52 minutes later, i am done and there is 11,000 views. What a great video. So relaxing. I loved seeing that dog just lay there and rest. They arrive at the campsite; Cali -"ok you set everything up while I lay here and supervise".

Cali lives the best life, she loves every minute of it. Thank you for giving her that!

Even the most beautiful thing on YT will have thumbs down, I guess there are people so miserable that they wake up, turn their computer and thumb down a little, then they go through the day blaming the world for their misery. Sad really
