Calgary neighbourhood pushes back against "nightmare" house

Residents of the Fairview neighbourhood in Calgary are requesting assistance to maintain peace on their street due to ongoing issues caused by a particular "nightmare" house.
The community is concerned about the situation, but the Calgary Police Service has yet to reveal their plan of action or how often they visit the house. The problem started when a house on the adjacent Fairmount Drive was purchased in 2022, and since then, a changing group of people has been living there, often exceeding a dozen individuals at once.
In response, the Fairview residents are taking proactive measures by documenting the issues in their area to encourage positive changes.

Had the same experience when my neighbors house was sold and bought as an investment property. They built a basement suite. Rented the place out to like 20 people they even had someone living in the single detached garage. The tenants boarded up the garage door, built walls inside the garage and they rented it out as well. Thank god they're finally gone and trashed the place and the property so bad the owners had to spend months repairing it to even make it rentable again. Used to be a nice quiet neighborhood full of young family's and old couples that original built the homes. In 1969/1970. Then bam! Two slum lords by houses as rentals and the neighborhood goes to crap.

I don't have this exact problem, but I still have jerk-neighbours. Some absentee landlords bought the house next door. Its party central every weekend. Many people crash and sleepover. One of the tenants rents the house out like its his own AirBNB. Noisy mufllers rev all weekend and idle for prolonged periods. The one tenant with the modded exhaust leaves the house 10-15 a day, which is suspicious. Subwoofers blast whenever cars come and go. The tenants have like-minded friends who enhance and replicate the behaviour of tenants. The City of Hamilton and Municipal Law Enforcement do nothing. We are now trying to move to a spacious lot, because our once-beautiful Canadian communities are doomed. Canada is destroying itself. The diversity mandates and fabricated housing crisis is ruining the experience for everyone.

I fear that I may be homeless. I am on a subsidy. And I heard that the PC government doesn't want to fund housing for us. I was going to graduate from housing I am in now. But my worker told me to stay where I'm at and community regional housing is not going Tobe available. . Yeah I was homeless for a couple years slept rough alot of the times. Landlords would not respect my concept of money. Renting bedrooms and investing money and groceries to survive for a month. Then losing and nothing given back for pretty well it was theft. Leaving me to die on the street pretty much. Yep I'm scared. There is this one police officer whom is extremely aggressive. You know it is so dangerous being a pedestrian especially at night time.

This is happening b/c there are lack of mental health services to support ppl in times of need. A wealth transfer has taken place in the last 3 yrs from the middle class to the rich. Why are wages stagnant, but corporate profits are skyrocketing? Answer that instead of some making some vague, bigoted statement.

I completely understand their frustrations. However, it's a dangerous road to go down dictating what you find as an acceptable way of living in a neighbour's property. It isnt hard to imagine someone starting a neighborhood attack on a person for not cutting their lawn often enough.

This is Canada. HOA don’t apply to single family houses. Our equivalent is Strata properties or what they used to call condominiums (attached properties) which have bylaws, rules and fines. Houses are regulated by city bylaws.
