Caleb Williams & Bears on Hard Knocks, Aaron Rodgers' injury, Tom Brady at FOX | Colin Cowherd NFL

Спорт

Colin Cowherd and '3 & Out' host John Middlekauff discuss the latest news and stories around the NFL. They start off reacting to the Chicago Bears being selected for Hard Knocks on HBO and what that means for Caleb Williams & Matt Eberflus. Next, they talk about how Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets will fare this upcoming season and how concerned they feel for the aging QB coming off an Achilles injury. Will Tua Tagovailoa get paid by the Miami Dolphins and how will the Buffalo Bills do without Stefon Diggs? How long until Justin Fields replaces Russell Wilson as the Steelers QB1? Colin and John react to the college football TV schedule and forecast how Tom Brady will do as a broadcaster with the NFL on FOX.

I'm not hating on Justin, but the tape don't lie. Fields definitely got flustered trying to go through his progressions as quick as he needed to. He stared down his top receiver too long second guessing himself and messing up the timing for all open windows for each progression after #1! His footwork and drop backs that helps QB's with the throw timing was sloppy. I had no idea how Justin determined when his first throw with anticipation was supposed to be made without proper 5 and 7 step drops! When his hot receiver wasn't a good option, he dropped his eyes and began looking for a hole to run in and his receivers were just burning energy turning to find someone to block. The number 2 receiver knew that Justin would seldomly progress to him often and ran sloppy and lazy routes (usually Mooney) in the 2nd half on many occasions! I'm hoping Caleb doesn't get blasted behind this line early in the season making him skittish to where he slowly loses his ability to stand in the pocket and look for a receiver to the very last millisecond!

Wilson’s last year in Seattle he broke his middle finger and was out 4 weeks, and came back 3 weeks too early and was clearly still hurt and was bad. Then the final couple games he was good again. HIS ISSUE IS HES STRICTLY A PLAY ACTION QB, he can only run and be successful in one type of offense. Best 9 year stretch behind Tom Brady, by the numbers, in NFL history; ESPECIALLY 4th quarter comeback and last drive wins! Put him in a PA offense and see what he can do. This is not rocket science…

I totally disagree with Colin's take of Riley having a deep feeling that he didn't want Grinch with him at USC. Riley asked him if he wanted to come with him. Then, during the offseason last year, Riley said he knew not to bet against Grinch and knew what he was made of. Then talking to the media after practice telling the fans or people outside the team that they can't see the progress the defense is making because they have an untrained eye. Then, after the Washington game, he finally realizes that the defense was not making the progress that he and Grinch had hoped. If Riley really wanted to not have Grinch tag along that night, he could have just said to him no. And considering their defense vs. Oklahoma State gave up 37 in a loss, he should have looked at that and said to himself that he isn't taking any defensive assistants with him from Oklahoma. I have always said that was a lazy move by Riley. He should have known better, and if he was given the chance to go back to that night, he would not have brought any of those guys with him.

A Rod wanted to be a Packer and retired as a Packer. He didn't have a choice because the coaches staff just perfectly pushed him out the door to the paparazzi and didn't let him get a chance to tell me he wanted to play or not one time he was a favorite fan of the 49ers he wasn't gonna play for 49ers that was his favorite team he refused to go to 49ers. That's why he picked the Jets ever since you left, the Packers, then came to the Jets that side of the vision seems like they're threatening By A Rod Who says he can't Play in his 40s look at Brady. He's no different from Brady and he said he wasn't going to push it any further than what Brady did. Brady is Brady and A Rod 🌺🌺🍀🍀

I love how this conversation went from, “Tua is too small and not athletic enough”, all the way to, “you have to win from the pocket and scrambling around doesn’t win games week to week. It just looks cool in highlight reels”. The ironic stupidity meter shows Full on these guys.

so, as much as i wish, im 5'9, right, and ive got friends who are 6'3. just 6'3, not even the 6'6 6'7 monsters on the o line let alone d line... i cant see over their shoulders... you realize that tua cant see over his own line. Now, tua i think throws the best mid range touch pass in the league, but if his throws have to include the lineman as the throwing lane, and even if he gets out of the pocket hes not kyler, not even close. Add in the cold weather outdoors in december games, they are right. it is both. it can be both. tua can both be too small and not athletic, and the game is won from the pocket, with the scamble being the anicdote not the gameplan.

@@steffengillespie4208 Tua certainly doesn’t seem to have a problem seeing throwing lanes, or maneuvering through the pocket and he’s more than capable of picking up a couple yards if he has to. He just chooses not to because he would rather get the ball into his playmakers hands, as he should want to do, as that is the job description. Tua is 6’1”. He can see over guys shoulders well enough. It certainly hasn’t stopped him from eating in the middle of the field. His problem with weather games is usually wind related when he doesn’t even attempt to drive the ball, for all kinds of reasons. Sometimes he just chooses not to and tries touch throwing a deep ball that gets hit by the wind and turns into a floater or gets all but dead stopped and drops out of the air. Sometimes it’s either because the play concept was shit or the receivers on the field didn’t do their job correctly based on the coverage of the defense and the underneath receiver stopped their route in the middle of the throwing lane and he had to throw over that receiver and their cover defender and under the secondary to hit the window, so he couldn’t just drive the ball because he would hit a linebacker in the facemask with the ball. Being taller won’t help that and having a bigger arm would only serve to make the ball bounce off dudes head a little bit higher when it hit them.

Unless Russ is doing stupidly bad I don’t see the Steelers playing Fields until the 2nd half of the season solely because of how the trade was worked. Even if Pittsburgh some how snuck into the playoffs they aren’t going anywhere this year. I don’t see it being worth giving up a 4th over a 6th just to get Justin a few more games unless Russ is complete shit.

37:00 Colin doesn't seem to understand two concepts: 1) Your "Preferable vacation time" will not always align with your work demands lmao, that's just facts. 2) If rivalries start losing it's luster, unimportant regular season games will make CFB irrelevant, expeditiously. Just like CBB and every other college sport to general America. UF vs UGA still pull ratings, should they pivot because UF isn't a hyper-winning program at the moment? No, because that would be stupid. Stop using USC as some 'ultimate' program because you live there and start examining the perspectives of the 130+ schools in the 49+ other states in America.

The Bills are in for a step back! Finally all the hype will come crashing down. Allen is great, duh! But he couldn’t get it done with stacked teams. Now they’ve got significantly less talent. Diggs, Davis, Morse, Poyer, White, Jones all gone. Milano coming off an ACL too. Keon Coleman is fun in interviews but one year of production, late bloomer guy in college doesn’t usually translate. Shakir is a NICE slot and Samuel is a good league average WR. Knox is good not special and Kincaid has DUDE potential. They’ll easily win their division but this is the worst team they’ve had since Diggs got to town. Good thing they took that championship banner in the practice facility. Set more realistic expectations….

Ah yes, the tua slander. These 2 have invested BIG on tuas downfall. Almost like the hedgefunds with GME. Theyll have to take an apology tour. Along with Nick Wright. Nick Saban and many others picked tua as a great qb Injuries and brian flores haulted a bit of his progression. "He cant play in the cold?" One of the junkiest narratives. The minute they beat a good team in cold weather the goal post will move and pundits will say it wasnt againt the chiefs. Also taking away diggs from Allen is not good for Allen. Josh allens best skill is his feet and ridiculous arm. He throws deep and thats what makes him elite. Take away the deep threat and you neuter his offensive capabilites. As a fin fan, ill take it. Cause josh allen throws the best deep ball in the league.
