Dirrell wasn't defensively smart in that moment. He should have took a few steps backwards after his vision had been obscured because there is no telling what's coming next. I am not a Floyd fan but, he is exceptional at thinking ahead by anticipating where his opponent is going to strike. He wouldn't have opened himself up like that.

I don't think the trap from Plant was outrageously special, but that Dirrell simply made a mistake at the exact wrong moment.

Right before the KO, I made a comment to some buddies that if Caleb sat down on his punches he would stop Dirrell. Plant was pushing him back all fight when he landed clean.

Dirrel won't never be the same again. That was a hard haymaker!

Is total speculation, or just a possible scenario….. Perhaps the referee knows Caleb and knows that Caleb would regret doing his celebration in the future. So he did a professional courtesy and a personal favor to try to stop him from letting his emotions get the best of him I have absolutely no facts or story to back that up, but it's just a thought. There's a million reasons he may have stopped him from doing that period but these referees do know the fighters, they have interacted with them a lot over there career. Look at how Jack Reese addressed andre ward in his fight that was getting out of hand... yes it was professional, but you could clearly tell they had some history of interactions, personal relationship or raport by the way he talked to him.
