I’m a professional athlete with calcification at the insertion of Achilles’ tendon and I do have a pre-existing condition. One of the hardest injuries that I had to ever deal with. I’ve had manageable pain for almost 4-5 years and only after Covid, due to inactivity it flared on a run one day. I tried shockwave, stem cell, extensive physical therapy and nothing seemed to work. What seems to work for me was something called Tenex and eccentric exercises. I personally worked with Maryke and she was amazing. The entire journey took around 1 year from the time it flared up and I’m at 90% right now. If you are dealing with a similar injury find something to keep you fit(biking, swimming), be patient and hope you recover soon.
A year ago I could not run 3 miles without left achillies pain, so I asked Physio Aly to patch me up. She layed out the plan and supervised its evolution during our online sessions. Fast forward seven months or so. This April I finished a 40 miler, then earlier this month I got my first 50 miler. Difficult runs for sure. But no achillies pain!

can you share your exercises? thanks!
I have calcifications in my tendon and also have the symptoms you describe. Very encouraged to hear surgery is most likely not needed if I follow correct treatment procedure. Thanks!
Hi there, this was really informative. My calcification in my Achilles is due to very high cholesterol and previous use of statins. What would be the first point of call in trying to repair/dissolve the calcification please?

You need to discuss this with your doctor - your case is pretty specific.
HI Maryke, in this video you said that the cacific (calsium deposiy) can dissolve on its own. what does it means? and how does it works?...thank you for your respone

It just means that in some cases the deposit goes away by itself - the body reabsorbs it. But we don't know why it happens in some cases and not in others or how it works.

Following a progressive rehab plan can help strengthen your tendon and avoid surgery or tears. You can find more info on that here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dqRsydyqad3VqZc.html

It depends on your specific case and what shoes you wear - if standing for long periods aggravates it at this moment the maybe break it up with sit breaks. But also check if it helps to wear shoes with a bit of a heel lift inside or a heel on them to reduce the pressure: kzread.info/dash/bejne/laau1LBpe9bLh8o.html
If i have calcified achilles tendon. Am I more prone to achilles tendon rupture?
@TreatMyAchilles
Жыл бұрын
No, your rupture risk depends on how good you are with looking after your tendon and doing your rehab exercises that will help your tendon recover.
Can you use needle lavage in the achilles?

Likely but I am not an expert on that so best to ask a radiologist or doctor who is familiar with the procedure.

Yes, absolutely
Magnesium glycinate, magnesium taurate, citrate helps keep calcium build up where it doesn’t belong.
This is the same as an achilles insertional heel spur or different?... Nevermind I think it's different.

I was wondering the same thing. Sounds the same to me.
