Thank you so much for these uploads. I've been suffering for months now, both legs, pain gets worse as the day goes on. I struggle to walk in the evening. Just starting my "journey", i have a doctor's appointment scheduled, hopefully he has a root cause and solution.
Hey, I was labeled today with tendinitis, but the sharp burning pain is more extreme than a knee tear I’ve had , I wanted an mri , can tendinitis be that way? It’s constant pain and to the touch it’s very sharp , I’d love your advice you’d know much better than most doctors available with your experience I see your very great help
Dankie Maryke, dit is nou presies die video waarna ek opsoek was! Groete
Goed om te hoor! Dalk sal jy hierdie video ook nuttig vind: kzread.info/dash/bejne/emWiyMmOYcTTpso.html
I had this too, but strangely enough it didn't hurt at all. It's reducing in size already after 2 weeks, so it should be good
My surgery done yesterday, day before yesterday I tore mine while exercising in gym . Your video is useful. Thanks
You're welcome!
My heel pain came after playing 4 games of softball in a less than 6 hours. I have been walking in barefoot shoes for a while ad figured running in them should be fine also. I have really strong legs and huge well defined calves. I turned 50 this year and haven’t ran, let alone sprinted since high school days. I know I over did it that day. The tendons in my thighs are still tight now 3 weeks later, and since I can’t take days off work I still experience heel pain. It gets slightly better each day. I do try to take it easy on days that I can, but life must go on. 😅
Thanks for sharing, and good luck with your recovery!
What if that was retrocalceneal bursitis? Phsyos saying ice treatment is very effective
Hello Doc, i'm almost 80 days after my Achilles surgery and i have recovered almost all my plantar flexion and my dorsiflexion through therapy, but in the last couple of days, when i shift the weight from my heel towards the tip of the foot, i get some sort of pain on the Achilles tendon area, is that normal?i had my last orthopedic visit 10 daus ago and he told me the healing is good, i have strong push but naturally the muscles aren't there yet. Thank you
I think I made it worse by attempting the one-leg exercise while standing halfway on a step. When lowering the body, the Achilles tendon may have been over-stretched. Maybe I tried to rehab it too fast too strong.
Thank you so much for everything you do for us victims of tendinopathy. You are an angel ❤❤❤
Thank you. This video is very helpful.❤
You're welcome 😊
definitely recommend the heel lifts as you stated! after 12 months of pain finally I'm feeling like I'm recovering
Great to hear!
I am an 85 year old woman. Developed paratenonitis from pickleball. Had a cortical steroid injection, which was good for a year. Symptoms have returned and have been present for four months, although I no longer play pickleball. I now take Eliquis, an anticoagulant, so I cannot take NSAIDS. MY doc does not want to do another injection. What options are available now?
Can they actually heal or going back to normal?mine keep coming back after playing basketball,i rest for more than year by not playing basketball but now it hurts again after 15mins of playing!can they goibg back tp normal?
Thank you.
Welcome!
My doctor terrified me by telling that if I here a snap and there is a gap, then I need to go to hospital because it would mean that I had snapped my tendon. 😲 So I have been extra careful.
I think this video may help settle your fear: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qWiBlq1yd93SmZs.html
Hi. I’m on the vacoped boot non-op on a flat sole now but it’s hard walking on it, and wondering if I can inset a heel raise in the actual boot. When I had a different wedge on the boot I walked perfectly but on the flat sole in the boot it’s more of a hopping scenario
Check with your doctor because usually at this point the idea is to have the foot in neutral - so placing the wedge is likely not a good idea but sounds like your boot may be too flat to allow roll-over of foot.
Do you have different advice for court shoes?
The same principles apply to court shoes
Thank you for the quick reply and the other good info.
THE BEST EXPLANATION EVER !!!!!!. ALL THE DETAILS, ALL THE SCOPE OF POSIBILITIES , THE HOLE SPECTRUM OF PEOPLE, EXPLAINED AT THE VERY LEAST DETAIL. EXCELLENT !!!!! THANKS !!!!!!!!.
Wow, thanks!
YOU ARE GREAT !!!!!!! THANKS !!!!!!
Hello! I’m not sure if I have an ACHILES TENDONITIS or GOUT but everytime I get up from bed I can’t literally walk. I can’t step my right foot cause my right ankle hurts so much. Can someone tells me what I’m suffering with? Appreciate your response❤
It's not really possible to tell from such little information but the main difference would be that, for Achilles tendonitis the pain is very much in the tendon - NOT the ankle, so if your pain is in the ankle then it is likely Gout. You can find more info on how to diagnose Achilles tendonitis in this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lYKD2sZsp5ade5M.html
@@TreatMyAchilles Thanks for the response
I'm now slowly recovering after a year of pain, and no Hiking. I'm praying I can get to Switzerland by late September.
I ruptured totally a few days ago. In a vacoped for conservative and keen to return to sport in 6-9 months. Does this apply to me or only surgical cases? Thank you 🙏🏽🙏🏽
This is only for surgical cases.
ultra sound directed dextrose injection in an achilles tear then boot for 6 weeks fixed it for me,
Thank you for sharing!
Damn, just got started with jump rope for cardio and thought it was great. Now i gotta have a 2 week break? Uhhh..
😞
Has anyone felt this stick out behind their knee, right above their calf? I felt some discomfort, and went down to feel around, and I feel a tight, hard thin fiber that reaches from maybe the middle of behind my knee, and when I’m stretched straight, I feel it go down my calf. It doesn’t really cause pain, but it feels like somehow I strained something or something…I’ve been playing GOLF. But almost nonstop, hitting buckets during lunch, leaned over and stiff legs for 2 hours practicing chipping for hours. Any clues if it could be this?
It might be plantaris but it might also be swelling inside the knee joint causing a Baker's Cyst kzread.info/dash/bejne/jKl51MWQidS9hKQ.html
Hey, sorry, I keep bothering you guys. I have an appointment with a physiotherapy "sportsdoctor in two weeks" but one other question popped up please If you may answer. So my bursitis on my heel doesn't hurt as it did 3 months ago I did take NSAIDS on and off for the first 2 months but had stopped because the fear of slow healing with my injuries scared me. I had switch to ice water buckets and isolating the injury for 20 min then waiting 5min and then active range of motion to stimulate blood flow. My question is, should one take NASAID if their bursa is not as inflamed anymore but hurts everyone once in a while? Or should one stop after some time to let the body do its job even when it's tolerable pain? I can walk now with barely any limp. Lastly, yes i have watched a lot of the videos you have on the channel, including the one on bursitis. Please and thankyou
NSAIDS is usually only useful during the early stage where you have acute inflammation in the bursa - it sounds as if yours likely don't need it anymore.
if the tendon don't like being stretched then why do physio's tell you to do heel drops/lifts? Ironically, when i'm experiencing the most pain, stretching then tendon relieves the pain temporarily.
Maybe this video will clarify stretches vs rehab heel drops: kzread.info/dash/bejne/X6mb0s-ig7Cvc5M.html
@@TreatMyAchilles IMHO, dropping the heel is still stretching it to a certain level.
Thank you so much for sharing this information . I REALLY want to do these rehab movements but it 'feels' so counterproductive to train something that seems injured. So say there are some tendon micro tears causing pain, the concern is it will get worse. Am I the only one that thinks like this?
There isn't any microtears when you have tendonitis - that's nonsense people tell you on the internet - I've made a video where I explain this: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qZZ1k6StpqW7naQ.html But if you're still worried about this, perhaps consulting one of our team can help - our team of physios can assess you and provide a rehab plan via video call. I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis last year on my 67th birthday. Until that point, I had thought my severe heel pain was Achilles insertional tendinopathy. Rest had no effect. Physical therapy had no effect. It was only when I started on disease-modifying and immune suppressing medications that my pain and inflammation resolved in a matter of days. This has been a real eye-opening journey for me because I didn't even know what AS was and had thought my decades of spine and peripheral joint pain were always the results of injuries even when I couldn't recall injuring those joints. I just figured it was that or overuse. Now, as a lifelong active mountain athlete, I am trying to recover my fitness so I can keep doing the sports I love long into my old age. I appreciate all of your videos and have learned a lot from them. I don't know why I never found this one until just now. It explains my entire history with chronic pain and reinforces that my active lifestyle is what has prevented my spine from completely fusing all these years. Thank you!
You're welcome, and thanks for sharing!
Great video
Thanks!
These videos are incredibly informative and helpful. Have helped me be a little less fearful. One question re: circulation: I have a riser that makes the head of my bed 7" higher than the foot, to help with acid reflux. Is it possible that sleeping in this way causes more fluid to pool in my legs and feet than normal?
It won't make a big difference - it is more important that your reflux is well-controlled at night. What you do with your feet in the day is more important e.g. wearing the correct shoes and doing the correct activities. You can find more information about treatment here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/emWiyMmOYcTTpso.html
I cannot express how helpful this video is. Thank you so much for the explanation. I am a Muay Thai practitioner for almost a decade. I believe it should be a pretty common thing in combative sports although I wasn’t able to find much research on this. I never had PAI before. When kicking the heavy bag, the kick would always land on my shin. Last year I switched to a new gym with new trainers who hold pads slightly differently. And I started to notice that more portion of my kicks would land on the back of my foot when it’s already tensely straightened. The force of the pad being pushed down on my foot literally causes the jam. At first, without knowing what it was, the symptom would just go away within a week or so. And over the past year it definitely aggravated in both my feet. Unfortunately, from where I am, I don’t really have easy access to medical examination, care and great doctors of this sort, and I have a competition coming up in 8 weeks. I’m trying my best to rehab myself, but I really don’t have much hope because it seems to be very reoccurring in training and hard to be completely avoided.

For me my whole leg
Yesterday I had small motorcycle tip over. The rear soft pannier hit the back of my achilles tendon and calf, the pain is mostly in mid and upper section. Also there was small indentation in my achilles in mid section. I have 700km to travel to my home place. Today I was resting all day, also did 3x10min frozen peas 😂 on it.
With ems can it help achilles tendonitis can you also use tms or ems for bursitis for healing with heating pads.
You usually don't want to use heat on bursitis as it can increase the inflammation. TENS can be used for bursitis but I would not use and setting that creates muscle contractions. You can find more advice about treating bursitis here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dGWAr62wdb2bndI.html
Compex SP 4.0 MUSCLE STIMULATOR have TENS programme, and also have TENDINITIS programme, as I understand its different, can you tell if its can heal tendon or have same effect like TENS?
So, there has been no electrotherapy device that has been shown to heal tendons - TENS only helps pain, if you us NMES on the calf muscle, it can enhance strength. I don't know what those programmes in your machine targets.
If i use strength programme on NMES machine on calf muscle, will it also strengthen achilles tendon?
achilles tendinopathy with insertional spur and bone marrow edema is my case, can i still do heel raises and deep down on the stairs? thank you
I can't tell what is right for your specific case (scan results don't provide full picture), but the advice in this video may be useful: kzread.info/dash/bejne/n4uJ3NWKea_gh6Q.html
Excellent video. Everything stated here is spot on. I was misdiagnosed with achilles partial tear and calcification, and had to go to a surgeon for a check up and second opinion, and luckily they did another scan and figured out it was the bursa. I got it from switching to barefoot shoes and overdoing it. Be sure not to make the same mistake that I did, and go for a second opinion if needed. 😊
Thanks for sharing!
Had an achillies partial rupture and when the ER. But the doctor just gave me a boot with no wedges. I don't know if that's fine as I can't see an orthopedic until a month from now.
Unfortunately we also can't know if that is OK for you - it might be if you have a relatively small partial tear.
This video is great! Thank you! (retired pro dancer here... and I'm also a sports massage therapist). Can this kind of impingement occur and be felt more on the lateral side of the ankle rather than centered?
Yes, it depends on what part of the joint is affected
If only I saw this video a few years ago, thank you
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this video. Very comprehensive and informative.
You're very welcome!
Huge amounts of sense. Thank you
You're welcome!
Is this similar rehab after a heel spur removal surgery?
No - that is a different scenario - your doctor should provide guidelines.
Best explanation ever for bruised bursas. Very informative.
Thank you!
i just recently started feeling this. it's a slight ache. sucks that i may have to stop playing football (soccer) for a few weeks 🙃
Amazing. I had chronic retrocalcaneal bursitis in 2021. Had two steroid injections which helped but orthotics resolved properly. It’s come back recently so will do everything suggested. It makes sooo much sense !!
Thanks for watching!
Does it ever be normal again :(
Yes, it will recover over time and with the correct rehab.
I have a ulnar tendon problem on my right wrist for a year, I have been doing strength exercises for approximately 10 months now and have seen only progress in the beginning stages of the therapy, any advice that you may have on this matter?
