Coming off of an ill-fated experience with the Skye Records label, Cal signed with Fantays for a second time nad this was among his first releases. This album hits on a lot of popular tunes of the day, covering songs from the catalogs of Santana, Donovan, Motown, The Beatles, and even updates a song that his brother Curry Tjader performed with the Baja Marimba Band (Julius Wechter's song "Fresh Air").

This LP copy was in fairly good condition, and only has a few spots of minor noise here and there. Pretty sure this was pressed by RCA as the vinyl is very thin, as in Dynaflex-thin...we're almost talking a sound sheet here! 😁

In my younger years. 18/19 going to college, no money, very little time for fun, living by myself. But on Wednesday CAL TJADER ,played at the BAYSIDE MANNER, Bayside NY . $3.00 to get in. His music, that energy, that place ,,, gave me desire of happiness. His talent, his music today makes me look back at those years. I appreciate those memories, WEDNESDAYS,,,,,,, TODAY I listen to his music, a fantasy of joyful fulfillment. Today his music, IS magic, I compare to sea waves , when there is winds, breaking in the shore. ECHOING PEACEFUL JOY

May sound cliche to say underrated, perhaps in part because of Cal's pre-occupation with Latin music, that he is more highly talked about in mainstream jazz circles.
This entire album is extraordinary and every selection is played to perfection! Happy to have found it again after all these years!😂

Also, a huge shout out & thx for doing the search {for the 11-min version}. Those precious seconds/minutes may seem insignificant to many, but I'm sure the late Steve Jobs would've paid a king's ransom if he could've had that extra time to prolong the inevitable - and to spend it with his family for a wee bit longer. The older we get, the more our mortality nags {most of} us, and the more we come to appreciate this strange yet fascinating miracle which we call life.

That version of "Evil Ways" reminds me of the incidental music that you get in the movie "Sideways", a wonderful movie by the way. A wonderful album to listen to, thank you for the upload!
