I agree. I would love to see Cal in live action but not at the expense of his character. Cal has become one of my favorite Jedi and I would want his character to remain intact. I really respect Respawn for being so protective to Cal though.

As long as Respawn and Monaghan have sufficient input in a live-action production, then I think it could turn out well. But there are a lot of things that could go wrong if Disney instead decides to do Disney things and throw out the source material and ignore the games. And that's arguably too big of a risk.

I think it's more to do with the fact that it will limit what respawn can do with the character. For example if he pops up in Mandalorian then he has to survive and they can't kill him off, it also takes away any stakes to his well being as most people will know he's going to survive regardless.

It depends where you put him. We can't put him in anything during the Mandalorian series because him just being there can spoil what happens to him during the dark times. But maybe giving him a cameo in Andor or Obi-Wan season 2 may make sense because they share the same timeline, and Cal worked with Saw Gerrera anyways.

I agree...that way the live action Cal could exist in a sequel to the games. Would make sense anyway since he'll be older. The question is though...what haircut and beard would he have? 🤔
I think it could work in form of limited TV series based on old Mantis crew breaking up ang him joining Saw Garera and building new team, while dealing with abandonment issues. It will expand on existing lore without messing up anything important in Cals jorney or larger timeline, and Cameron Monahan could play him without any weird makeup or digital aging. But it must be done by proper team with creative liberty, otherwise it could turn into another BOBF.
Cal is straight up one of my favorite Jedi. & I never thought I would say that… after seeing his character growth in Jedi Survivor… IF they do make a third game… I don’t know how they will top what they have already pulled off… the whole “embrace the darkness” thing near the end of the game was insanely satisfying and awesome to see… the dark side is literally within his grasp and he could turn at a moments notice with his hatred for Bode & what he did… but he doesn’t let it consume him. Cal seems like a good candidate for being a “grey Jedi” because he seems to operate the best between light and dark. & that concept is so intriguing to me. Love Cal. Keep it up, Respawn. 🤙

I hope there’s a dark path ahead for Cal. And who knows he might denounce his Jedi ways and settle down with Merrin, or he might die.

I respect Respawn’s decision. As cool as live action Cal would be, Disney has a habit of ruining everything they touch…
Basically they mean they want his game story to be finished first and that I respect
As much as i want to see him in Live Action I think seeing his story end in the 3rd game(still not confirmed at the moment) is much better I am curious if we could see him in animated series like the clone wars and rebels but I think he should still stay on the videogame universe
@drfabulous2804

Do you mean there is no confirmed 3rd game, or it is not confirmed that the story will end in a 3rd game
Something I saw pointed out elsewhere, that we could see Cal in Andor S2, it would be inbetween his appearances in Survivor and FO, he could be alongside Saw
pretty sure we wont see cal in live action until the third and final game drops. Part of the reason he isnt in the mandolorian seasons is because they dont want to spoil the story of the third game unless they make it where its something that happened in between jedi survivor and the 3rd game
I believe that seeing cal kestis in live action would be amazing. He is like one of the most popular characters at this points and fans would love it. But they would have to bend themselves over so hard to make sure they meet the expectations.
I would love to see Jedi Survivor movie. The game is awesome and I would like more.
I think if it was on a show that Dave Filoni was in charge of, it could be done well. Honestly, I would like to see Filoni and the Respawn team that make the Jedi games put their heads together so Respawn could connect elements of Filoni's shows in their games without interfering with his plans, and Filoni could include Cal, Merrin, and/or other characters from those games into his shows without stepping on their toes.
There is definitely going to be polls on what color his lightsaber will be if they ever do.
A link to the "lengthy" interview would be a nice touch.
It all depends on what Respawn have in mind for the 3rd game. There's a really good chance that Cal is going to meet his noble end, instead of having the character survive to mess with the continuity of no Jedi surviving the to point where Yoda dies and Luke is the very last.

@@CaptainYeet16 Honestly, this would be the most logical ending. To be emotionless and unattached is a poor excuse for a life, and Cal is starting to realize that. There's definitely a balance that needs to be struck, but emotions can be harnessed and used for proper purposes. They are not intended to be quenched nor given free reign. In the extended universe books, Luke realized that and taught his students that there is balance between things, and in that balance is incredible power.

if he survives, he might join Ahsoka in terms of jedi who survived but quit being jedi
One thing I love is Camerons dedication he doesn’t care about money he even said in an interview that one of the terms of his contract was how the story would play out he could of just nego a contract with money and just gone along with whatever they wrote but he was more concerned about the story that the pay that’s true dedication and actors who show true dedication to they roles don’t go unnoticed in the performance and by the fans So it makes sense he wants to protect the character and not ruin it by transition to live action I can’t imagine he’ll agree unless the story it right for his character but I also think they should finish his story in the games first as he also announced there a third game in works so before moving his character to live action finish he story otherwise it’ll be confusing and even spoil aspect of the game and his story it’s just gonna be a pain to wait 3 years to see what happens next lol
The only thing I'd like to see is a small cameo. No combat, just have him have some key info for the plot to pass along and then he's out.
They won’t unless they re introduce him in some way because not everyone will play the games and theses shows and movies are meant to be timeless so I think he will maybe get a mention but I don’t think we will ever see him in live action
A cameo is all we need, and maybe a show depicting the aftermath of the third game (if he’s alive)
The thing is. We don't actually need Cal in any live action series at this point. He has his own massive games and the story of Cal in video games are clearly not over. He's also not interacting with any other characters that overlap into other media except Vader and Saw. Cal works fantasticly in his own games. Let's see what the 3rd game does before having him in live action.
I do believe that it would be a very cool link to include Cal in a either TV show or movie appearance and branch it out to the next chapter of the videogame series. Since Cal appears to be making a lot of wave in the Star Wars universe I would really like to see him appears in Ahsoka, Andor's next season or the Mandalorian.
@d4rksonic474

He can't appear in Mandalorian or Ahsoka as of now. This would most likely spoil him in Jedi 3 to be consistently alive and well.
Just thinking of a fight scene with cal splitting his lightsaber into his different stances 🔥☠️
I mean at the end of the day it's really not up to them. If the mouse wants Cal the mouse will get Cal. Altho personally I feel like there is a good reason why they used an actor for the model of the character, I think we will see him in live action and this is all smoke screen.
I'd be so excited to see Cal in his own show, but only if Cameron Monaghan can reprise his role and Respawn can be involved with the script. Cal's story is just too good and they need to do it justice.
I think a live action mini series that takes place after Jedi Survivor would be great if done correctly. Provided that Respawn and Cameron Monaghan have significant control over how the story is played out.
If not him directly, some sort of reference to him would be nice. Maybe that khyber crystal in Andor belonged to Cere Junda.
As long as Cal’s story in the Jedi series has concluded, and whatever projects he would be considered to appear in in live action, in those projects his character is kept true to how he’s portrayed in the games where we were introduced to him, then I think it would be fine. I think it would be best to have Cal cameo in a few live action projects, perhaps as an ally to Luke Skywalker, or having met Ahsoka Tano or even Ezra Bridger, could definitely be interesting and enjoyable. I’d obviously LOVE for Cameron to get to reprise his role in a significant and meaningful way, as a recurring or side character, to gauge how audiences react to his live action depiction, and to see how Cameron feels about live acting.
I’d absolutely love to see live action cal, as long as it’s done proper,y and doesn’t tarnish his character.
I say he should at least get a live action promo. Like as an announcement trailer for a new game. That way we get to see Cal and the rest of the crew in live action without much of a sacrifice of their overall story
I feel at most, there might be a small mention in a project. I really don't see a jump to live action until the "trilogy" is over - due to spoilers on what can happen to him.
I think it'd do fine if they had him show up as a cameo or something, but not a full character in a show, that way they couldn't really do much to somehow tarnish the already established timeline/lore around Cal. They could maybe have him as a holo-recording or something, just something simple but a cool easter egg for the people that have played the games at least until they likely decide to make a full jump to live action.
I think I want a movie from it. Even if just a side piece, a day in the life of kind of thing, which one day could morph into more.
if Disney can for ONCE not just replace actors along the way, change his role, or change story in any way, shape, or form, then I would definitely watch the live action version of those Star Wars Jedi games.
I do think cal kestis should be in live action but just as a 1 episode cameo it would be a big shock to everyone to see Cameron come to live action and everyone would love it
I think I would like both. If they were to make a 3rd game I would like to see what Cal and the Mantis crew does in between, similar to battle scars but more of a tv mini series vibe like Kenobi.

If it doesn't center around Merrin that much this time, I'd be for it... though with Kennedy I'd be afraid it'd get even worse.
I asked him in person last year about going live action, he said "That would be real nice, wouldn't it"?
If he pops up in a show set after ROTJ, all potential future games set during the Empire rule disappear. He can only be used if the show is in the same era as a released game.
What they could do, is have someone (e.g. Rey or someone else in the New Republic era) discover Tannalore again, and find a thriving civilization of survivors that the Hidden Path saved. Since Cal is roughly the same age as Luke, he could be played by an older actor and be leading a new Jedi Order on Tannalore, cut off from the rest of the galaxy. The film could have flashback scenes with Cameron playing the younger Cal Kestis. This would not interfere too much with future games involving the character, but also bring him into the film/tv lore as well.

Cal was 13 when Luke was being born. How is that any close? XD
I’d love to see Cal work with Cassian in like 2 episodes of Andor. Maybe him and BD could’ve been the ones to reprogram K2
Cal is one of the best star wars character in the disney canon and he reminds me a little bit of kyle katarn
I think him and live action would be best suited for a cameo or one off appearance
I think it would be hard to find a show for him to naturally slip into (of the current slate). He couldn’t do anything in the “Mandoverse” cause of his age, and Andor really isn’t a show for cameos. Someone else said tales of the Jedi and I think that makes the most sense.

I feel like it would be a waste to just keep him in the games. But it also seems like after the final game has been done and if Respawn wants to stop there, then doing more like a live-action thing might be an option.
Everytime you said "making the jump to live action", I so badly wanted you to say "making the jump to lightspeed". Guess I'm in the right place lmao.
I totally understand why they want to keep him in the game, but at the same time all the lore feel like an "island", there are no crossovers with any other shows despite their lore implications being big at some points. I could definitely see (side)characters being referenced in different shows.

Honestly I think the whole 'Island' feel of Fallen Order and Survivor's stories is a boon to them as it leans into the Star Wars galaxy actually feeling big, there's only so many times you can have everyone's favorite characters ending up on Tatooine before it becomes trite.
we know that cal had much fights and time between the games so thats the perfect spot for a good series or movie.
If he did it would have to be his own show. I don't want him to be a one episode guest star or someone coming in to save the day, I want him to be the main focus or not there at all.
I will gladly settle for a mention of him in one of the mainline things, but I dont want to see him live until I can say with certainty his character and story will be respected.
Cameron and Respawn; "Disney need to keep their gruby mitts off our character, they'll only fuck it up"
I really want to see him in live action, just so he cant be written/killed off at the conclusion of the third game. That his story and his actions actually had an impact on the universe as a whole. I dont need him to have his own movie or series, but I would love to see him as a cameo on shows like Obi-Wan or Andor.
Yeah Disney really needs to earn our trust back before they throw anymore existing characters into their stuff. They have a tendency to destroy the characters we love.
Maybe not necessarily in live action but it would be cool to see him in tales of the Jedi before order 66
Now that the EA contract is over, they should either bring him into live action or make an animated show with the same cast. However, they would have to be super, super careful, and bring in people from respawn that were on the story to help write and showrun kind of like they did with The Last Of Us on HBO.
If he does I think it should just be a cameo later down the line when he looks the age as Cal does years after the events of "the return of the jedi"
Honestly just want him in a small cameo tbh. Nothing bigger than a few minutes
Thanks for the video because they have made (he has voiced) a phuh-ing amazing character as you said!
I'd find it okay if he had a few short Appearences. Maybe like Ahsoka in Mandalorian. But he should mainly stay in the Videogame Universe.
The games really capture the wonder of the original movies and Cameron does a fantastic job- they’d be dumb not to bring the character to a wider audience (if they can do it right).
I think a bit of a cameo wouldn't hurt.
Seeing how it looks like Sabine is using his lightsaber hilt in the new trailer it’s a good possibility.
Cal will be in Live Action when his game Trilogy is done.
I think respawn actually made a good decision. Dont let him be ruined in live action. They will find a way to fuck it up. Cal's story is one of the few disney star wars stories thats actually good
I think Cal popping up in live action or animation isn't a bad idea, it would be great to see him interacting with Ahsoka or the rebels. However, I would prefer that it's more of a cameo, and that any character defining moments or arcs stay within the game series.
I'd love the character to be involved in movies but I think he should be a character of the videogames first, since thats the part of starwars he represents in a way
I agree as well. If we can learn to see Cal’s tale as the jedi the way this will be an amazing new history for him. Just like a history of all of us something to learn every day, For the jedi order. Keep doing it Cal. Make your master Jarpo and Cere proud. Remember what you said Trust only the force.
He's one of the best characters disney introduced because he wasn't introduced by disney.
I don't see why he couldn't have a cameo appearance in something that fits chronologically. An Andor or Kenobi season 2 cameo would be nuts. The games detail that he's been with Saw for a while and has spent years fighting the empire, and having him pop in an episode for part of the action, or at least showing the Mantis would be an awesome nod to the character and at least acknowledge that the character exists in the live action universe.
i personally think we need to have an end to cal's story arch in a game before we have him in live action. The plot with the path, tanalorr, Kata and Merrin should reach its conclusion in a game before cal appears in live action. This would also fit with what disney is currently doing as the seem to be uniting the jedi that survived the empire like luke, ahsoka and Ezra. It would make sense for cal to appear here if he does live to see the empire fall.
if he does lets hope his show/movie will be good
They need to utilize the fact hes played by a TV actor and make it happen
In my opinion if Cal and friends ventured into live action should be at least as a cameo. If done right. Fallen Order series should stay in the game verse. "If it ain't broken don't fix it."
You’d think tying this game & Obi Wan together using the hidden path would be a hint that they were working toward it. They also made it clear early in production that this takes place the same time as Obi Wan did. Most likely coincidence. As long as they keep the stories straight, I’m all for live action! Cameron is a proven actor!
I've always said this. Once Respawn has completed their story with Cal, he's more likely to transition to Live Action (unless they kill his ass in the third game). Throwing him into new things before his main story is done wouldn't be a brilliant idea.
He could be in live action to help complete a specific quest with a main character, but I would not want a series following him. The games are doing his character better than any live action Star Wars product in recent years.
This is such an opportunity, shame to lose it. I really wish to know who is responsible for the game's story. Does Disney make any corrections? The story is excellent. Imagine Cal will go on the dark path but will be like Mace Windu or some unique grey Jedi way with redemption and stuff. That could be an insanely epic character.
I def don’t think he should be the main character of anything live action, cause that’s what the games are for, but I think it would be cool to see him cameo in an episode of some show or in a movie if they are making any more movies
I think a random feature somewhere in any of the series would be nice but I don't think there should be a full jump
So what he's saying is Respawn wants a shit load of money to let it happen.
if he were to be introduced to live action, I would prefer to see him as a cameo or just 'that guy that helped out that one time' as giving him a significant role feels like it would spoil his character edit: it would also be cool to see him as a kid during the clone wars with jaro tapal, kinda like how we saw kanan jarus (caleb doom) in tales of the jedi

In short, u dont want a Major role cal, but a cameo role cal? Yeah, i could accept that
Are you kidding Me?!... Cameron Monaghan, might as well become The New Face of Star Wars!!!
Cal doesn't need to be in Live action. He would never be the same character as he was, they would have to nerf him a lot to make him fit as a lot of his powers (the time freeze one especially) would be way too OP to make any sense in live action
Personally I wouldn't mind seeing him in live action, but having a small part, like a cameo apearance or a small speaking role may be best. That way the games customization aspects aren't being influenced by the appearance, and it limits putting the character into a locked scenario. Maybe even just a holo recording/flashback from a moment in the games would work well for this
A cameo in another series would be great but Disney these days has been a franchise killer, I would tread lightly.
Maybe when all the final jedi games are done, maybe they could focus on a great jedi live action movies or shows,to bring more people to play the game
i would settle just for a mention and whatnot in a live action series
I think he would work well in live action, but only after they make a 3rd game and complete his video game arc first.
The fact that so many people already think he's one of the best character in the current star wars environment just goes to show how little the necessity of a live action version is. Whatever cool story Cal ends up in next, I'd probably be pretty disappointed having to watch instead of getting to play it
He could get his own show under supervision of respawn. I would like to know what he did after fallen order 5 years is big deal honestly. And respawn would have good ad for this game if they done this
Well if they jump to live action for Cal, Respawn and Monghan should have the full control on that movie
Basically he really said “I’m not gonna be in any live action until Disney is extremely desperate.”
Him and Sam as Starkiller
After the trilogy of games is finished then I would like to see him in live action if his character survives but only as a cameo I wouldn’t want a full on series or movie with him as the lead
