Nice discussion, though just to clarify on Clark: she's not just top 5 in assists this year, but she's led the nation the past 3 yrs. She'll not only end up this season #1 in scoring all-time and around #5 in assists, but fun fact: only 1 other women's college player since 2000 (don't have stats going back further) is even ranked in the top 100 for both - Ionescu, who barely cracks the top 100 in pts, and no men's player since 1947 is even ranked in at least the top 250 (the available lists don't go below this) for both.

This stat isn’t really relevant for in recent history. Any player capable of achieving this wouldn’t be in college long enough to do so as they would move on to the NBA. Even w NIL Deals, it’s still l probably not worth it

@@skaylingop9673 You have a point with the men, but why I threw them in there is to further emphasize how difficult it is to achieve, bc no man had done it before the early entry eras either. Obviously for the women the stat is valid since the WNBA draft requires 4 yrs of college or being 22 yrs old.

I think a good element coming out of CC's journey is that these awesome freshmen have an example of an elite performer who was successful while unapologetically playing her game. They are coming in much more experienced, polished and requiring programs to bend a bit for their game. UConn is a good example of the old school dynasty, where you are ALWAYS a replaceable cog. I can name 5-6 past UConn players that would have been vying for personal records, if they had chosen other schools. The shift towards individuals (portal, NIL, social media) is the fundamental reason, but CC came along at the right time to sit on top of that rocket as an example for others.

Also the Aces sign Megan Gustafson, the former Iowa most points record holder.

trying to frame the Seattle Reign's offseason recruitment as *exciting* or *bold* for the league is lol ridiculous. not to mention Casey Stoney was linked to Chelsea and promptly and publicly signed a extension until 2027. Laura Harvey did no such thing and is not being backed this offseason. every chance Harvey is gone before the Reign sale ever even gets finalized. just crazy theres no coverage of that failure of an offseason by a team that was in the final a couple months ago.
