First of all, you don't know what assault is. Second of all, not a single person in this comment section has the ability to comprehend what they're listening to. If they're actually listening at all. Her eardrum was ruptured on a screen. The other player wasn't moving. She ran into the player. I actually watched the game and can confirm this is true. There is nothing a ref could do in this completely legal situation. Caitlin needs to either learn how to get over screens or fight through them. Which she will.

@@Croatiauefaeuro You are correct about that particular play. But in case you hadn't noticed, CC has taken more than her fair share of over-the-top fouls and flagrant fouls. That's what we're talking about here!

@@CroatiauefaeuroAnd that’s exactly what Caitlin said, but there probably is a real convo to be had about the flagrant fouls and quite honestly finding a better balance when it comes to the level of physicality overall in the WNBA. And that should start from the WNBA Commissioner’s office. The NBA made adjustments over the years to put less focus on defense because the physicality and aggressive defense of the 90s got out of hand. And I think their ratings went up. Turns out if people want to watch football, they’ll just watch football. But even more than that there is a beautiful flow to basketball that too much aggressive defense just throws off and ultimately makes less fun to watch, which is what the NBA realized years ago.

My first thought was that she probably ruptured her ear drum. But biased people will always assume whichever choice confirms their bias.

Caitlin NEVER makes excuses! In that game, Clark had her worst game of the season. She had only 3-pts (1 for 10 shooting), 2 rebounds, and 5 assists, which are season lows in every category. She had taken several hard hits on screens against her that knocked her to the floor. At one point, she held her ear and was taken to the locker room by a trainer. Turns out, she had a ruptured ear drum; symptoms include vertigo and hearing loss or distortions.

For a man it be like the same scenario but it’s Shaq or Steven Adams….you’re on the floor. You ever go up for a dunk at 10 ft and get knocked to the concrete at? You ever loose teeth, break your nose, conclusions, soft tissue injuries, broken bones, etc. etc. you get the picture? There are an infinite number of ways to say what she said that would have raised the hackles of the press corp and put them on the defensive - see any interview with Angel Reese for reference - but she immediately defused any potential tension with zero effort and a whole lot of grace. Master class in how to win friends and influence people.

Clark is handling this situation perfectly and from her coach's expression I this she agrees. The biggest frustration she can cause AR is to keep calling her just another rival. She wants to be seen as Clark's equal and it distorts her game trying to get that attention. Clark is already living rent-free in her head, but the more Reese is downplayed as having some kind of special relationship with her the more real estate Clak gets in that head. If Reese doesn't grow up and just focus on making a layup the worse she will look both on and off the court.

The thing that bothers me is the comments that the league is a physical league. Basketball is not supposed to be a physical game, it’s supposed to be a finesse game. Yes there is going to be some physicality especially in the low post. But that’s with the body not the arms and hands. If the league would police that up then it would be a much better game to watch and players wouldn’t be getting frustrated or hurt. It’s not rugby or roller ball.

Yeah, agreed. I think it will slowly change. They have been playing this way for 27 years. I’m glad that Caitlin released this information. You know the WNBA has to cringe when they hear this. It only took one video of her in an airport for them to start charters.

Yes! This is akin to when the NFL implemented the no-bump receiver rule after 5 yards. The defenses had to adjust, but the game became much more fun to watch and offensively oriented. I see it happening in the WNBA: refs call the fouls and 🛑 stop the muggings happening on court. The defenses will adjust, and the game will have more action and flow up and down the court. Win - win. 🍿

Listen. Catlin certainly does not deserve any of this physicality. No one does. However, I need to continue to raise this question. Where was the E'FN outrage for Angel when he career could have ended with that rough clothesline play by Alyssa? For that matter, where is the outrage for other players who have experienced the same in this league FOR YEARS? Again, there is soooo much bias because they want Caitlin to be the "savior" of the league. Admit it. People just don't GAF if it happens to other players of certain colors/or $ exual orientation. Keep this $hit real!

To Change the WNBA's culture, you got to get rid of the word, "Physicality" all together. The REFs called the Atlanta Dream game very closely and ATL- got 35 foul shots while Indiana got 12. If I hear the word, "Physicality" one more time, I am going to stop watching. Just like Michael Jordan used to get a lot of calls to go his way, due to his reputation of dominance and competitiveness, never once was one of his game's fouls called in lieu of normal acceptable "physicality". Lebron James has that problem, now, too many ref's calls based on his reputation and acceptable level of 'physicality'. We are letting friggin narrative writers from ESPN & WNBA reporters set the standard of foul calls for women. Listen to the Ben Daniel podcast. He will explain it very well. The WNBA is in a cultural ditch of moral degradation equal to that of the 'Roller Derby' so that we can start naming the players, generically 'Blonde Bomber 1' & 'Blonde Bomber 2'

It gave CC the path for a layup because the check threw off the timing of her coverage person.
