After 20 Games in The WNBA, How Good of a Player is Caitlin Clark Really?
Coming out of the University of Iowa, Caitlin Clark was one of the most anticipated rookie's in WNBA history. After becoming the NCAA's all time leading scorer, many people wondered how well she would do in the WNBA. Since being drafted she's already became a WNBA All-Star and one of the leagues best guards. But after 20 games how good is Caitlin Clark and The Indiana Fever really? #wnba #nba #caitlinclark #indianafever #iowa #basketball #CourtsideChase

I have not seen this "Level" of a Player since Larry Bird came in the NBA. It's an awareness of what 10 players are doing all at the same time.. Something you seldom see, cause its something not many can comprehend. Incredible mind with a vision... Some people never get past concentrating on their own game, others can only see one play at a time, to comprehend what you need to do offensively while being mindful what /who the defense is capable of is " High Knowledge/Skill Basketball" Caitlin Bird Clark' i Love You 😍😍

No one will ever say that Caitlyn Clark was never tested. I'm most impressed by her composure and maturity both on and off the court at such a young age. On the court, it has been a pleasure watching her accept the challenge of taking the reigns of the offense despite relentless defensive pressure, and leading what would've most likely been a below average offense, to a possible playoff appearance.

Caitlin Clark is the only reason why I watch WNBA. Prior to her arrival, the W was a struggling league that seldom drew crowds that reached 50% of the crowds that Caitlin Clark draws. You only need to see the number of teams that have had to move to larger venues when they play Caitlin Clark and the Fever. I have never doubted what her impact would be on the WNBA. What is disappointing is the limitations she is enduring due to coaching that doesn't seem to know how to run plays that allow here to be herself.

Caitlin brought me to the WNBA. Watching it, I see women playing so much harder than their male counterparts in the NBA during the regular season. Every game is a death match with incredible intensity. The all-star game (unlike the joke in the NBA) promises to be highly competitive. This is great basketball.

People understimate the fact she has 2 women guarding her at the 3pt line and another one behind guarding potential drives to the rim. She's getting the star treatment from defenses and it's not easy to deal with that as a rookie. There's obvious areas of her game that need improving, but she's showing glimpses of greatness, she'll put all the pieces together sooner or later.

  • @CourtsideChase

She's number one on opposing team's scouting reports and the focus of their defensive schemes. They do everything they can to try to shut her down and get the ball out of her hands, yet she's still putting up great numbers. As the people interviewed on the Gilbert Arenas show said, if they had been guarding her like everyone else, she'd be averaging 25 points a game.

They are guarding her like everyone else. A defender is on her. The Casuals like to say how she is double and tripled team but the only time that happens is when a screener tries to set a screen and the screener's defender comes up and gets involved. That's the same from junior-high on up. Nothing new there accept to a newbie. She has no midrange game and can't use her left hand. She's not athletic enough to create her own shots. Why do you think she's become more passer dominant? The glory days of Iowa are over.

Think of the 2022 NBA finals. Golden State decided to blitz Tatum often. Both he and the team lost their composure, then the series. It's not new for her - she's #3 all-time turnover leader in the NCAAW. And for every missed assist, there's a gift assist to someone like Mitchell who digs into her bag for points after the pass. Can't mention one without the other. I don't know why everyone is so eager to make excuses for her. She's adjusting. She'll very likely get there - she has the skills and the drive. Given what Caitlin has faced being a primary defensive target with teammates who have trouble catching passes, passing the ball, hitting wide open shots and bunnies, I think she's remarkable. Once she gets better players that can pull some defense off her and a coach who can leverage her offensive talents, the scoring will come. After Taurasi gave her some shine, other players are seeing she's earning their respect. This definitely isn't Iowa anymore, but she's already breaking records while just getting started. She’s putting her teammates in a lot of 4-3 advantages. If her teammates can just start making teams pay for double teaming CC consistently, then they’ll have to play CC honestly. Even Aja Wilson doesn’t get double teamed anywhere near the rate CC does. It’s wild.

When a teammate steps away from a pass and allows the defender to have the ball, that isn’t really the passers turnover. You would never expect your own teammate to just allow a turnover in the NCAA, but we have seen it happen in the WNBA. Another stat that is telling in the WNBA is how many “top scorers” have almost Zero assists. It is like they never grew out of their high school ball hog habit.

Please get a real coach , and down a few players that cannot score after 3-4 attempts and don’t score . Smith is number one who needs to go along with Wheeler , Wallace, , Samuelson , just about whole team , they have 3 good players 1 Caitalin Clark , Boston who is not consistent , then we have showboater Kelsey. She is the most selfish player I ever seen.

Angel Reese would still average a double-double In rebounds even if you subtracted the rebounds she gets from her own missed shots. 1.7 of Angels rebounds come from her missed shots. She averages 11.8 rebounds. 10.1 rebounds per game without her misses. Caitlin Clark is on pace to beat the single season turnover record by 83 turnovers. On the day that I wrote this, in 21 games played Caitlyn has 149 assists and 118 turnovers. Her assist to turnover ratio is 1.26. A ratio of 2.5 or more is considered average. Yikes!

Hate basketball, such a boring sport. Seems there's only 3 different ways to score, so redundant. Especially men's backetball. Was raised playing hockey so really don't care about basketball.! BUT after hearing this girl's name so many times, I decided to "youtube" her. Love at first sight. Girl is amazing despite ger "skin color problem" ! She's just amazing, only 22. I keep checking everything about her since the day I saw her in action. Go Caitlin !

I can't stand hearing the voice of Coach Sides, she's a liar, a hypocrite, is deliberately sabotaging Caitlin Clark and the Fever Team because of her ineptitude, incompetence, lack of knowledge and experience expertise in strategy and tactics, consistantly making the wrong decisions Coach Sides has no idea what she is doing hence always blaming Caitlin Clark for losing games. There are no words to describe the god awful stupid coaching decisions made by Sides made in the 2 games against Chicago and Seattle. The madness was self-evident Needless to say, Coach Sides must be fired ! But in-spite of Coach Sides disastrous coaching decisions, Caitlin Clark and her Fever teammates are winning games. Imagine if the Fever actually had a good coach who knw what the he or she's doing, they would definitely be in the top ranked 3 best teams of the WNBA There's no doubt Caitlin Clark is the most valuable player in the WNBA, ROTY, has revolutionized Women's Basketball to a new level In the basketball world of personal talent, skill, teamwork, working to improve your game day in and day out, but most especially the ability to read and see what's coming next and take it to the next level, who always puts the team first above herself. Angel Reese is not even in Caitlin Clark's league Caitlin Clark in the game against the Seattle Storm became the first player in the WNBA history to hit 300 points, 100 Assists, 100 Rebounds in just 19 games. Caitlin Clark is breaking records with every game she plays. Caitlin Clark already leads the WNBA is Assists and 3PM, and still has the rest of the season to break all other records Caitlin Clark has multi-million dollar endorsement contracts with NIKE, Gatorade, etc, why, because corporations know who the real superstar talent is, who has drawn in millions more fans to watch Caitlin Clark, NOT Angel Reese, NOT Diana Taurasi, NOT even Aja Wilson and Kelsey Plum, who could quit the WNBA tomorrow and go play for any international league and still be the women's basketball superstar that everyone would watch, bring in millions more fans and dollars to the league she joins. If that were to happen, the WNBA would literally collapse back into an abyss of irrelevancy Before Caitlin Clark's arrival in the WNBA, nobody, and I mean nobody gave a crap about the WNBA, never even heard of players like Diana Taurasi, Aja Wilson, Angel Reese, with a few minor exceptions like Sue Bird who was still not a household name

    1. Caitlin Really needs to hit the gym/weights, she's physically too thin, She's gives her all but just runs out of steam into the 4th quarter. 2. Sides needs to go, she is a HORRIBLE coach, too many times Caitlin (and other team members) are standing there with their thumbs up their butts because they have No clue what to do in Any situation. 3. Caitlin needs to fully understand that when on the floor SHE Is the Captain. The other players are trying to follow her lead because they are lost and Fully understand they're NOT going to get guidance from the bench. With No coaching it's like the blind trying to lead the blind.

She doesn't always run out of steam in Q4, and when she does, it's not a function of her needing to 'hit the weights', it's that she's been playing basketball almost non stop since October.

Listen I love Caitlin but let’s be real honest, she is way to slow, defensive liability, cannot create own shot, cannot jump at all , hasn’t been shooting any good, right now she is a great passer but way to many faults in her game, the interest will wear off of her game, but hopefully she did bring more light to wnba in future
