    Great video. But I think the Sky getting Cardosa and Reese will make a bigger difference than Clark and Taylor. Rebounding is key.

  • @fry5family

    @fry5family

    15 күн бұрын

    @@frankiek2269 Rebounding is important. Fever already had Boston 6'5", and Smith 6'4" bigs and picked up Fagbenle 6'4" and Samualson 6'3" who plays like a big. Now Taylor ACC defensive player of the year '22 and '23, and B10 defensive player of the year '24. And Clark was no slouch with 950 rebounds at Iowa (just 158 fewer career rebounds than Cardosa). And to top it off, all six of these outstanding rebounders are shooters, which Reese is not. I agree with you that the Sky got what they needed for their organization, so did the Fever. It will be a fun ride watching it all come together this year (I can't believe I'm saying this, I've never watched a live WNBA game before, just reruns!!).

    Two plays in this video really illustrate why Caitlin is so hard to deal with. 3:50 she calls for a screen from Nalyssa… Nalyssa’s man has to switch to Caitlin who gives him a hesitation like she’s going to shoot the three… he goes for it and she blows by him. Celeste’s man has to help on Caitlin who immediately finds Celeste in the corner for a wide open three. At 5:40 Caitlin gets a screen from Boston and gets the switch… Boston rolls and Samuelson’s man has to help down so Caitlin whips a pass across her body to Samuelson for another wide open three. Caitlin’s threat from deep, her pacing with the ball, and her court vision result in a LOT of open shots for her teammates…

    One thing I've noticed, because they haven't started running offensive plays yet, is that when Erica is point and Caitlin is a #2 shooting guard she just stands in the corner on the left side of the basket waiting around for the ball or to grab a rebound. They need to start developing some offensive plays where the guards penetrate and circle around causing some havoc for the defenders.

And there's no time needed to get into shape, etc. But a slump seems inevitable because of the schedule -- especially if factoring in Team USA.

She is not a one-horse-show, she shoots, passes, dribbles, penetrates defenses, etc. It' been a long time in any sport that I have seen someone who loves the game so much. I remember one of the old timer MBL players said he would play for free because he loved the game. Now THAT is a real player.

    This offense is looking very similar to Iowa's; multiple shooters on the perimeter, multiple ball handlers. rim-run, up tempo, and score in transition.

    Yes. It’s a noticeable shift that Caitlin isn’t bringing the ball up Court, and there are even possessions she didn’t touch the ball! Not a LOT. Still notable. It’s Pro now 💪

    @@TheXena23 When she's on the floor at the same time as Erica Wheeler, you have two point guards and Erica is the vet. I'm guessing that, for practice, they'll run Caitlin in the shooting guard position just if they need her there. I think she's too small for the forward position on the Fever, so she'll probably rotate between point and shooting guard, mostly point.

    Clark had tough time fighting around the great picks those girls make! She needs better defense too! The game is much faster than college indeed! And boy can all those ladies shoot well anywhere! Clark will elevate her game playing with better people as that always happens!

    So much focus was placed on her scoring record that few people noticed that she finished number 3 all-time among women in assists with 1,144. I'll admit to being a little bummed, as a stat fanatic, that she came so close to, but didn't reach 4,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. Another 49 points and another 10 rebounds...she might have only needed one more game!

    After being a baseball, football and basketball fan in the 80's, here's me staying away from sports for about 30 years. Then I hear about this guy , some Tom Brady fellow who at that moment had FOUR Superbowl rings already! Wow. He made me follow football again. Football, nothing but football. Then, last year I hear about this player, Caitlin Clark. Now, after more than 30 years of not watching a single basketball game, I am watching her team practice and I CAN'T WAIT for WNBA season to start. Man!!! Some people have just that kind of impact, you know.
