Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, Christie Sides postgame after Fever win over Liberty, CC triple-double

Спорт

Caitlin Clark became the first rookie in WNBA history to record a triple - also the first in Indiana Fever franchise history by any player - in helping the team to a 83-78 signature win over the New York Liberty. NY had not just beaten them three times before, they had demolished them. But not today.
Clark had 19 points, 12 rebounds and 13 assists, Aliyah Boston added 18 points and 8 rebounds in a Fever win. They trailed by 11, but hung in there. They closed the game on a 19-6 run, including 12 in a row.
Their response and locking down on defense played a big role. They had a different attitude about them in this win. The Liberty shot just 23.8% from range in their fourth loss of the season (17-4).
The Fever now have wins over the Mercury and Liberty in two of the last three games.

About a month ago I posted, somewhere, that the Fever would really start to move when AB started going straight to the rim. Recently she seems to be doing that - both to open up for a pass and to score. She is a Force - very tough to stop. CC will find her teammates if/when they're open. The players are starting to adjust the 'move without the ball and be ready for a pass at any time' style of play. This is the old Larry Bird Celtics method. It still works today. CC is a key cog but AB and Mitchell are powerful forces for the Fever.

They're one of the best. Good players and well coached. They'll cruise to the playoffs and may very well win it. But they're also part of an wnba old guard that may be passing away. Reese has shown that wnba rebounding is weak. And good for her for exploiting that. Refereeing is also weird and inconsistent in most games. I think this newfound scrutiny and " eyeballs " will clear a path for better, safer basketball gir these talented women.

Was a great game!!! I agree it would be great to see more of Hull. I'm thinking Fagbenle and Hull could share a spot since they have similar finesse and styles of play, and I'd love to see more of Dantas in place of Smith. Dantas was impressive in the brief moments she played. She and Smith have strength, but I suspect Dantas would be much more consistent. Smith's inconsistency isn't cutting it.

Peole forget just how stacked a roster the Fire have. Aliyah Boston: Selected 1st overall in the 2023 WNBA Draft. Caitlin Clark: Selected first overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Kelsey Mitchell: 1st round, 2nd overall pick (2018) NaLyssa Smith: 1st round, 2nd overall pick (2022) Aliyah Boston: 1st round, 1st overall pick (2023) Grace Berger: 1st round, 7th overall pick (2023) Lexie Hull: 1st round, 6th overall pick (2022) All they really needed was a chance to jell. Im picking them as legue champs this year and years to come, I mean hell, 7 1st rounders (5 the 1st or 2nd pick)! I cant even think of any NBA team that was this stacked, not even MJ Bulls for that matter. I might need to do a little research on that though.

This from Feb 2024: The Indiana Fever announced today the team signed forward Damiris Dantas to a multi-year contract. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed. The No. 12 overall pick in the 2012 WNBA Draft last played in 2022 with the Minnesota Lynx. In 2022, Dantas averaged 5.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and played 17.4 minutes per contest in 15 games played. “Dantas gives us a WNBA veteran with experience in the post and her international experience in the Olympics will also benefit our team,” General Manager Lin Dunn said. “She will be a tremendous addition on both ends of the floor as well as in our locker room.” In eight seasons played in the WNBA, Dantas averaged 7.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest in 202 games played with 128 starting appearances. The 6-foot-3 forward was also a member of the Brazilian National Team in the 2016 and 2012 Summer Olympics. Side note: Dantas missed opening week of training camp due to visa and family issues, then had a knee injury. She was activated last month when Celeste Taylor was waived.

Aliyah looks like such a sweet and beautiful person. She reminds me of my daughter. CC ended up in the best situation with these talented and all around good people surrounding her.

Caitlin is fatigued, she's fading late in the games. After the Olympic break and a couple weeks rest, I think she's going to light it up.

I would imagine most any player would fade later in game being geared full court and the greeted by double team crossing half court. Who the heck else gets that level of defense in WNBA......Result is tired legs and shot more flat.

Why would you want it on a silly cable network rather than a national broadcaster,.?waaay bigger reach on CBS.

@@serrielu8025 when I looked up the game to record it didn’t show CBS. Hulu tv guide pretty much sucks. Yeah if it was on CBS main channel nationwide obviously that works. In the long run you’d think to see many games they’d be on ESPN though or ABC.

I agree, but i think she's trying to blend in but in time she will take the lead, once they trust she about winning, and it's not just about her which by now they should know

It’s a catch 22. She already deals with so much hate and resentment from current and previous players…. She cant brag because they will hate her even more. I also imagine she has more of a mid west mentally….theres no I in team, etc.

I loved when CC was answering the question about her triple double and AB chimed in with a smile and said "She's so humble" and reached over and touched CC shoulder. CC and AB are really building a strong relationship along with the whole team, That "camaraderie" could possibly get them into the Playoff's this year! When the season started off with SO MANY losses it was a real "Debbie Downer" moment. I was thinking there is NO WAY they make the playoff's! But thank God they proved me wrong! GO FEVER!
