Caith Sith is reasonable though, let Shinra take the hit first for what danger awaits in Temple of the Ancients, that’s exactly what happened, a lot of them died

@@MaxBraver555 I mean the party trusted him enough to help them get it, I totally think they might’ve let him cook. Even if they didn’t, and Cait Sith does pull off with the “betrayal”, I don’t think it’ll pan out to paint him to be as bad as it did in this scene.

It sadden me that most of the comment section can't read between the line of the moment here. Caith literally said he knew they will hate him for his betrayal, but he didn't expect their rejection to cut him this deep, because his next line obviously implied that the group has grown so much on him that the bond he made with them felt genuine despite he originally only pretend to be friendly. So when he double crossed them, it pains him to see that cloud and co were convinced that their friendships were nothing but a ploy, eventhough he dropped the pretending act long way back. If Caith didn't have any attachment toward Cloud and Co, he could have just keep quiet about the human disappearance at the Temple, or even before that. DO YOU UNDERSTAND why he whispered to cloud during that one scene in private? he was literally handling information to the team behind Shinra back. If Caith wanted to kill Cloud and co, he had all the opportunity to lead them to their doom simply by baiting them into the Temple. instead he decided to sacrfice the Turk, the very same people that protect and knew him for decades (half of the reason is that he knows it's better to leave it to the Turk who are used to these kind of risk, there's a whole game with Reeve and Turk relationship.) You have to understand that he was put in a tight spot. I know people like to put the OG up on the pedestal, but if you replay the OG, some part of it just doesn't age well. Nostalgia or not.

Thats exactly what pisses me off All the fights in this game for the enemies are just like lose in the game but win in the cutscene anyway shit I was so pissed off at that Rufus shinra fight They made us live through that torture of a boss fight only for him to do that shitty coin trick and escape What was the point of that battle? 🤷🏻‍♂️

​@@Charliestrife01that's a beautiful idea however i think it doesn't apply Tseng trusting Cait with the key is proof that Tseng knew that Cait/Reave had infiltrated the group wich means that the plan was to betray them all along him acting hurt over it doesn't make much sense honestly since that's exactly what they're meant to feel after that betrayal

Well, to me it shows Reeve is an honest man that doesn't like the infiltration mission of this kind. The man despises Shinra for what it did to Sector 7, as Cait explained at the end. Due to the nature of the Temple and it's rumors, he hoped if anything bad DID happen. It was to one of the Turks

CAIT knew that the main objective befriending clouds party was to find that keystone at least thats what im thinking... but CAITH grew to like the party but still has his objective to retrieve the keystone... The only thing weird is (spoiler) Why did he let the party get the eligor suite of PALMER, RUDE and ELENA... lol...

@@Force-Multipliernah it does make sense even from that perspective. The goal from the start was to take the keystone, but along the way he realized Cloud’s group are good people and he came to care about them. Like he said, he really felt like he was their friend. He felt like he was one of the group, but in the end the objective was still to betray them. I don’t know if he was as hurt by their reaction as he was the fact that he had to betray them at all.

4:20 Not a good excuse, what if it endangered the whole Midgar and many innocents got caught in the fire somehow?

I really like the story of ff7 but the writing in this section was weird and fustrating. WHAT THE HELL did Cait Sith think was gonna happen after betraying the group? Oh he screws them over and then they just go like " oh man Cait you really screwed us over but don't worry we still homies, lets go" and not to mention the group just walks slowy and watches as the turks go away, why aren't you runnig towards them? BARRET you have goddamn gun arm USE IT, shoot the god damn helicopter. IDK, the main character just annoy me whenever the turks are involved, why are they so soft on these people Aeirth is one of those very pacificstic people so I can sorta understand her but why are the others get so upet or find so wrong to kill these people. THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR DROPPING SECTOR SEVEN PLATE resulting in thousands of deaths. So much of the groups problems would be solved if they just killed them when they get the chance. The Turks just annoy me to, like you people get your ass beat routinely and you still think your hot shit?

I knew I wasn't the only one who found it annoying yet kind of funny that everytime the Turks fight Avalanche they get their ass beat consistently and still have the nerve talk shit 😂 but aside from that you were right about everything from this scene I'm going to give Barret not shooting down the helicopter the benefit of the doubt since he probably doesn't want to cause too much of a scene plus there are kids at Gold Saucer but Cait Sith had no right to be upset with the bullshit he pulled here after not explaining anything to the group and pretty much screwing them over, even in the context of the OG FF7 he does the same thing so I don't really get it

Not much better in the original. Cait literally kidnaps Marlene and holds her hostage in order for the team to keep him. The Turks also get away every time in the original

Clearly what to hate in this game story is that Devs try to make us believe that no one is bad and will deserve death. Those Turks took the assignment and dropped a whole plate down just to maintain orders and positions. They lament and reflect on the actions, then still go and sting the gang like nothing happened in Sect 7. Barret has every opportunity to shut them down for good in remake and this second game, he didn't do sh.t, he wait for them to press the drop button, shoot them in cave, shoot their copter down. Cait's reason is to protect them from setting off to the castle because of a mere rumor. They didn't need his pity in the first place. IDK either. How this game story convey is hilarious and it stings me to no end too.

He was always going to betray them, that was the plan That doesn't mean that he had to like it though Plus, he rationalized it as, well, anyone who enters the temple doesn't come out, so at least this way, it'll be people from shinra and not his friends I think the scene works in retrospect Its literally, I gave the bad guys the treasure map so they can set off all the traps and get killed, that way you guys didn't get killed by them instead, logic

To make Cait look better, they get rid of the hostage situation, when the game shows Shinra having more surveillance and it being more reasonable to grab Marlene, AND they get rid of Cait having the location to the Temple so he can be discarded for a sad moment. They could've had Shinra nab Marlene as usual and show Reeve having a huge problem with that - it could have even been the point where he fully becomes a turncoat - but they didn't.

I wouldnt even accept his apology. Screwed up hardbody like that

If you payed attention to the dialogue, Cait Sith did it because he feared the legends of the temple were true about those who go in don't come out were true and so wanted that to happen to Shinra as his way to protect his friends since he didn't want that to happen to them, and as we saw it certainly was true as a large majority of the Shinra forces that entered were slaughtered by the forces in the temple. So it was a bad action from good intentions and worth forgiving him for.

Do you think something is different from the original?

The original had him stay in the party after delivering the keystone, mentionning he got Marlene hostage. Makes him more sympathetic in comparison to the OG.

It's not like Reeve walked into the house and personally kidnapped Marlene. At best, he shared information he picked up as to who Marlene is and where she was, but that could've been made less direct with Shinra's established surveillance state in the remake. They went out of their way to not make any important people too bad, but this is the story where eco-terrorists are blowing up energy reactors in a dense urban environment and fighting a government that's destroying its own city and instigating a war on a false premise. The whitewashing is just goofy.
