I think by "canceled" they mean "pulled from their schedule." Because the show already stopped airing new episodes in 2013 (but my local PBS station stopped way earlier and hadn't aired it since around 2007-08).

People love to hate it. My sisters are young enough to have watched it growing up, so I am vaguely familiar with it. To be fair, he is a whiney brat (moreso than most) and the show didn't really build any cognition around children's socialization, it was moreso just straight "listen to your parents/teachers and don't hurt feelings." Problem is, rather than really building the cognition around why parents or teachers should be listened to, the parents and teachers portrayed were also largely unlikable and it was moreso straight out telling kids to do it rather than helping them understand why (you know how well that goes). Didn't really show that actions have consequences very well either. Just poorly thought through "You are a kid, therefore you are a brat. Be good."

Also they had lessons in them, I remember one was about feeding fish, and basically explained why you can’t feed too much food to fish cuz when I was little I kinda had the thought of “well why can’t I just put a lot of fish food in my fish tank so then the fish could just eat when they want” until I watched that, it also taught basic things like sharing and stuff although yeah ig he was a bit bratty lol.

I was expecting more “cancel” drama...still hated the show even as a kid.
