We've been teasing it for a while so let's take a break from the spooky Krampuses & Yule Lads of the season and instead talk about some real shit. And yes, we actually swear in one of our videos. But it's all within the context of some good holiday fun! Because how else can you describe a happy little log that poops out delicious presents like turron for good children, under threat of being beaten with a stick? Happy holidays!

Though the Three King's tradition is big all over the Spanish Speaking world. In modern Mexico you get gifts by both Santa on Christmas Eve and the "Reyes Magos" on the Epiphany. Depending on how much the parents can afford: usually Santa brings the expensive gift and the "Reyes" a smaller gift or candy.
Dude just by the beginning I can tell this is going to bop.

Catalans have a weird thing with pooping and fire. Don't ask me why
This isn’t strictly Christmas (it’s Epiphany) but in Italy we have la Befana who visits kids and gives them sweet coal and candy on her way to find the three wise men
😆 thank you so much this whole years just been filled with so much tragedy and sorrow we can actually use something to brighten the holiday🙏
One correction, the big presents being brought by the three Kings on the 6th of January or the sweet turrón aren't traditions exclusive to Catalonia, but to all Spain and even some Latin American countries. The three King's are a Catholic tradition in general, after all. And the most traditional form of turrón originated in Valencia, which is located more to the south. To be more specific, in Jijona, Alicante.
In New Zealand we celebrate Christmas twice, once in December (which is our summer) and once in winter which we call "mid-winter Christmas" Mid-winter Christmas is much smaller than real Christmas, it's just a way for people from the Northern Hemisphere to have a wintery Christmas, and an excuse to put up the tree and decorations again. There's no presents, just usually dinner, alcohol and Christmas songs. Many businesses also throw a mid-winter Christmas party for their staff to use up any extra money from the end of the tax year. There's no official date with most people celebrating on either June 25th or July 25th but its an excuse for a silly party and a few drinks with friends and family 🎅🌲
I think the fact that some traditions survive due to their playful or unserious nature says something beautiful about humanity.
Thanks for the catalan representation! It's always nice when our traditions are shown to the world!
At Christmas (a polish tradition bc I’m half polish) is that everyone takes part of a wafer and we take a little bit of everyone else’s and they take a little bit of ours and hug them after the exchange. We then (of course) eat the wafer bits that we have.
Commercialism has really robbed Christmas of the magic of beating magical creatures until the excrete presents.
My doctor told me to keep a defecation log, so I corrected him with correct Catalan terminology. It's going to be a fun Christmas!
Must say the Catalan pronunciation was pretty accurated (an I am Catalan ;) ) BTW what a nice surprise this video was. Happy Christmas! ^^ 💩🎄💩🎄💩🎄💩🎄💩🎄💩🎄

I love how you just gave it Awesome Face lol
Wow! This video is very accurate, indeed! Thank you for sharing our traditions with the world. Some decades ago the tió de Nadal was a practice reduced only to some mountain villages, but I think that giving him a face, a personality, bringing him to life, has helped very much the tradition, and now it's widespread throughout all Catalonia.
This is a beautiful tradition and also completely absured, and I love it. All Christmas traditions should be this fun, silly, weird, little crude and communaly fun.
I'm so Happy that you shared this tradition of my homeland! And your catalan isn't that bad 😅 Happy holidays and Bones Festes everyone!

I mean, Santa Claus makes *slightly* more sense, on account of Saint Nicholas being the patron saint of children, known for his generosity and specifically for leaving a present in a stocking, in some versions. But not much more sense.
in some small villages in Greece you have to wash your elders feat, and leave the room, and when you come back, the water that you used turned into presents.
As a catalonian I loved your heavily accented version of the song XD
They have been speaking of the log for years! I'm so happy they finally released the video!
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS EPISODE FOR SO LONG!!!
I only found this because I searched "Spanish Christmas Log" thinking that I would find that yule log burning on a loop with Spanish music playing - did not expect this at all 😂
Frick Santa I want a log that poops presents
Im catalan, and is a beautifull tradicion! You have a good catalán!
Next time you could try to explain about the Olentzero in the basque country Another diferent kind of christmas
Man, the Catalans really beat the crap outta the log!
It's LOOOOOOOG, LOOOOOOOOG. It's big, it's heavy, it's wood. It's LOOOOOOG, LOOOOOOG. It's better than bad, it's Good!
