CAFÉ RACER PROJECT: Detabbing Frame and Mocking Up a Wheel Arch

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

So you have a stock bike that you are prepping as a Café Racer, but all those tabs on the frame aren't needed anymore and they're just plain ugly now.
That's why you have a Dremel... and patience too.
In this video I dettab my frame from unsightly tabs around the new Café Racer subframe, and when I'm done with that, I mock up a wheel arch (mudguard) to protect my shock and the bottom of the seat.
Let's build!

This exhaust seems to be discontinued so I just include one that seems to be very similar in shape (but chromed):

Loving your work man. The thought process and explanations as you go along. Doing it all without industrial tools. Can’t wait to see the finished product. Keep up the good work. 👍🏾

Thanks man! I appreciate the nice words! I am basically working on 2 different bikes at the same time right now but this cafe racer is definitely an exciting project that I want to finish!

With the lithium ion battery you will have to replace your regulator rectifier or it wont work/damage the battery, look into it. project looks really good.

That’s a great point, I actually have no idea because it’s the first time i use a battery like that, thanks for the pointers ✌️

I have a very subframe and boxed in the mounting arms, but left the access to the seat so I could unbolt it if needed. That being said you are basically creating a box that could house all of your relays under the seat or you could even eliminate them if you want to using something like an m. unit.

That’s a great idea! I don’t think I’m going to go the m.unit road yet but I’ll definitely keep what you mentioned in mind!

Thanks! If you start with the black wire as ground you can can try the other wires on the positive of a 12v battery. You’ll quickly see which one is for which light. It comes with no instruction so that’s how I did it! I show on my previous video how I did it!

Yeah that subframe is actually strong, not some weak welds. I’m happy I got it. So the seat comes from here: bit.ly/virago-subframe-with-seat

Yes! Don’t worry this cafe racer will be finished and looking fire. I missed a part and I finally received it, I’m waiting to be stuck on the R1 to go back on the Virago ✌️
