Great video! I'd argue that even though Romans (and Caesar in particular) where very much able and willing to lie to get reasons for war and conquest, the British probably DID support the people in Gaul. Firstly, Britain isn't far removed from modern day France and there was probably lots of trade and communication. Secondly, prior to Germanic peoples (Franks, Angles, Saxons) taking over both areas and forming the states of England (Angland) and France (Frankia), both countries were inhabited by Celts, meaning that they probably had every reason to be on the side of their related trading partners. Thirdly the fact that they were ready for battle the very moment the Romans reached Britain's shores suggests that they were indeed closely informed about what Caesar was doing in Gaul and were sure that the Romans would antagonize them too.

To be inhabitants of a quasi-mythical land, they managed quite well to communicate in Latin (or the Romans to communicate in whatever language the British spoke). I guess they were accompanied by merchants or whoever that had any little knowledge and experience of the islands. Also, the British were quite well prepared for Caesar's arrival, news travelled fast to the other side of the channel, it seems.

Would it? It was a resource poor island full of bickering squabling tribes. Romans stood around for almost four hundred years, and once they left it quickly converted back to what it was, just with a dwindling Sub-Roman population. It wasn't some rich province. It was literally at the ass-end of their world, Romans kept looking for an excuse to justify their expenses there, found little, and eventually abandoned it, barely even Romanizing it.

@Martin McKerry Britain was a poor place, Scotland included, just because there is gold in Scotland does not mean it is easy to find like it would be in Africa. There were no natural resources there that other places did not have. Stop making excuse for antiquity Scotland being inferior to the middle east, china and Mediterranean in every way. Why would you want to continue invading an island that poor? Would cost more money than it was worth.

No the romans have tried to destroy the identity, these isles were the home of The original Aryans who were the Druids. They were finally annihilated by their Atonist enemies who arrived in Britain approximately 1,000 years BC.This much is conceded by scholars (past and present) who, firstly, did not realize where the so-called "Celts" originally came from and, secondly, that the term "Celt," as first promulgated by Roman mythmongers, was both inaccurate and prejudicial.

@@Dragon-jn4jd you can say what you want about the bloody Roman society, but not that they conquered to enslave and destroy land, they integrated all of the barbaric tribes that submitted to their rule and were smart enough to understand that inside the roman boder, you would live a better life than outside

LizardonPlayer so why did so many tribes all over the Roman Empire rebel against them ,they came to Britain in the end to exploit the land and the people just like all empires did .Don’t forget that most of what we know comes from Roman historians .They were very smart but also ruthless conquerors.

3:18 Britain wasn't an *unknown land* different Celtic tribes , as well as Mediterranean traders had been buying and selling across the English channel for centuries before Caesar decided to cross . We have enough archaeological evidence for that.
