Miller is that rare comic artist who doesn't mind drawing cars and deadly little Miho's rollerblades aren't easy to draw either, gotta shape the wheels like little powdered doughnuts.

Mike McMahon's Sláine work on the sky ships story is incredible.

@JIM: Miller briefly mentions Toth in an interview in a book called Artists on Comic Art by Mark Salisbury, saying that he looked at his stuff when he was starting and was trying to figure the basics out.

This was the first Sin City collection I found. Kind of starting in the deep end, but I was familiar with the characters thanks to the movie so I still followed the story just fine. Your video on Sin City is what prompted me to seek this work out, and it kick-started a deep appreciation for Miller’s other works.

In Sin City Miller often uses a single color in his others black and white art--here the color is WHITE-. Milo's not drawn in clear-line style, she's colored with white. In Japanese culture white is spiritual/physical purity while also connoting death.

A quick note: I think that the fact that Miho doesn't have any shadows,(besides that she looks like a ghost and others narrative reasons ), I think it's because, she's pretty much a ninja assassin, and everything happens during a snowfall, so...camouflage? I think the idea behind Frank Miller's drawing of the bartender having a huge nose is because they have found out that people who are alcoholic tend to get big noses. Something about the blood vessels as they age. I met someone with a large nose and was told it was because he drank too much over the years.

Its format seems slightly smaller than an average comic book. Am I right?

Not the copy they’re looking at. Subsequent copies were smaller, but the first printing is comic book size.

The reason I find Frank Miller’s Art so remarkable is because it is fairly limited. Despite the limitations, he uses the style in such dynamic ways that it makes up for it. It’s not Jim Lee art, but it’s still insanely impressive

Jim Lee spent some time trying to be Frank Miller after Sin City came out. Couldn’t do it.

Yeahhhhh......this is where Frank's art started to fall apart for me.

@THE NEW HOUSE agreed, if anything this shows Miller's skillfull panel compositions and ability to take away visuals without taking away storytelling. I strive to do simmilar in my comics so reading his work is invigorating.
