I have no problem with the OnStar subscription fee. I freely chose to pay for the service because of the safety, diagnostic, and wifi benefits. It’s an unforced error on their behalf to appear slick about how you pay for it.

I always call Genreal Motors customer service. What I found is they are thorough answer questions no matter what it takes. So when you have questions about these issues. Call them get it straight from their policies as well as well as any exceptions. They will also create a file for that call. In case you need additional information. We buy the cars but we already no nothing in this world is issue free. READ your manuals first. Then ask questions. Mostly enjoy what you are blessed with. Happy Holidays, and New Years !

You had asked the benefits of buying a 2023… well it’s all included in the vehicle, including three years of supercriuse. I am sure the 2024 is less, but I suspect there will be many more options and by the time you load it up like the 2023, it will likely cost more. I think we will see this trend towards subscription to continue. Now is the time to buy loaded vehicles if you can afford them as you will not be held hostage to fees down the road. A good example… the 2022 Ford Lightning Lariat is $8800 less than the same equipped 2023…. Rivian and tesla both took a price hike about the same amount. Rivian wanted even more but the pre-order holder lost it and they had to walk some of it back.

The Lyriq is a “state of the art” computer on wheels with Google applications and more. Hence, software updates will be ongoing to keep your software current and “Bug Free”. I’m afraid “OnStar” may be a necessary tool for safety and efficiency. However the option for Wi Fi connectivity should be considered as an alternative option if possible.

Happy in my MB. Lots of competition ahead for late 2023 and 2024. Stupid to force customer to pay, better to include for 5 yrs by silently including it in MRSP as part of safety like lane change warning or automated braking etc. Thanks for the updates.

Safety reasons aside, I'm wondering if perhaps (one) reason GM wants mandatory Onstar is GM knows Tesla and perhaps other brands, have over-the-air communications for software updating and other reasons (safe bet Tesla's communications link price is rolled into the purchase price), so GM is probably thinking the same thing... why not have customers foot the bill for their full time vehicle communications link? But you're right, from a marketing standpoint, they would piss less people off if they just added the Onstar cost to the vehicle, then advertise FREE Onstar. Although either way, it'll probably piss some people off.

If Cadillac follows BMW with mandatory services, then I will not be a future customer. That’s what I can and will do!!! GM and other manufacturers will have a rude awakening!!! That’s a fact!!!

Why would I want Onstar? Benefits? I have an AWD on order (May 19) but will bail once my dealer treats me like dogsh_it. Life’s not so bad in my Porsche!

It’s very simple don’t buy the goddamn cars. Who the hell wants OnStar I have a mobile smart phone I don’t need OnStar. They can take their lyric and go write a song!!
