Brilliant - especially on my new acquisition, an 85 inch tv! There goes the kids’ inheritance 😂 Thanks for posting - I love that part of NSW, Goulburn down to Junee. Pity about the abandoned stations at Bowning and Binalong - and Yass Junction’s signal box looks like it’s literally falling to bits!

From Goulburn on the down. Need to send this to some mates at Junee running the Main South - they might start to appreciate what drivers and track workers have to deal with. Great work on the vid by the way mate - it's good to get a real view of it all.

42 Class was a GM 16 cylinder, 2 stroke diesel, twin roots blowers, 4 exhaust valve per head/cylinder and intake ports on the cylinder liners. From memory about 2000hp at around 950 rpm?? I used to work at the Diesel Annexe at Chullora Loco, we rebuilt GMs and Alco 12 cylinder but that was back in the '80s, possibly all gone now that everything has been sold off to the highest donor.

  • @sydneyanonymous5660

This movement had a max speed of 80kmph. A restriction I believe due to the wheel profile of the engine. Some light engine movements can do 100+

At Fish River (39:53), there were watering facilities in steam days, hence that forlorn water tank. It’s one of a few steam era relics along the line we see. Just past Binalong the old water cranes remarkably are still in place.
