Maybe he is British. They call the back yard "the garden". Whereas we(U.S.) think of it as a place where you plant things.

This layout is one of the best that I've seen. You've worked around your property extremely well, taking advantage of the grading. Awesome.
This is ingenious. I love the varying engineered pieces too. From legitimate constructed bridges all the way to stacked stones. Multiple lines and trains running simultaneously! Amazing!

That was a joyful ride from start to journey’s end! There are just so many things to love here: your huge garden, your taking full advantage of topography and garden features, the complete absence of twee to scale ‘features’, and the use of undisguised hard materials in construction, eg terracotta pipes, paving slabs. It reminds me so much of childhood visits to Beckonscot MRV in Buckinghamshire - but you never got to ride up front with the driver there!

That's lovely. No loud music, just a gentle poddle around the tracks with the only sound been birds and track rattle. Glorious!

My stepdad was a retired railroader (32 years) and he built an O gauge layout in their backyard in NY, then another when they moved to Florida. Those were beautiful, but this would have been the layout of Bill's dreams. Thank you for sharing this and giving me some fond memories of my stepdad bonding with my sons over those trains.

The long tunnel and all of the bridge work were my favorite parts. Beautiful layout!
This is beautiful because no background music makes the natural sounds so perfect. Besides halting at the station, waiting for other trains to pass by make it more natural. I like it.

I know it's an older video but I just found it & have to say, it's an exquisite layout, I really dig the many different levels & all the tunnels & other elements you've put into this model railroad. One of the best parts is ya'll didn't edit in music, really groovy to just hear the train & nature & leave it at that. The train was even running at a great speed, not too slow but not too fast either, excellent job, especially on the construction of your incredible layout, easily one of the very best I've seen yet!!
Did this person just layout the whole backyard just for the rails??? Oh my gosh mad respect! I love this so much! I rarely been on train before and this makes me wanna cry

SO cool!! I loved how it made the strawberries look giant next to the small train. It would be cool to be able to have one that would bring your gardening supplies over to where you need them...or put a load of strawberries into a car and drive it to the house. 🙂
Leaves on the line would cancel most services in the UK. This guy powrs through both leaves AND wasps. Legend.
This is incredible.... your property is huge and perfect for this hobby.... i also want to have this someday... its a stress releiver watching this train roaming around your garden....
Feels like a mountain side view.
Thank you for this. My Grandfather (b. 1915) always wanted to get our Lionel to run across the yard to see how fast they would get up to. We are in Waterbury, CT. Not a flat piece of land around. Ours looks very much like your area. You made great use of materials. We are a bit Irish shanty ourselves. We don’t aim to be. Just the way it is. Excellent what you have done.
