Where do you find the host ID on the homerun prime?

Do you have to plug in your PC to get the HD Homerun to work? Does your PC have to be on all the time? I think that you skipped some steps before plugging into the HD Homerun?

If I have a cable drop in my house can I just connect it to that and watch without paying anything?

Very nice! But Time Warner in San Antonio, charges the same rental price for the cable card as they do for the cable box. Cable companies literally rip people off every month.

Something to consider though.. this is a tripple tuner.. so while I do pay a bit more for this, I can get 3 live feeds, 3 dvr feeds, or any combo of them... check out my videos to see how I am doing it.

This is absolutely hilarious. They used to manufacture tvs with a slot for cable cards but no one ever used it.

I had such a TV - an LG - and I did use the cable card. Of course the cable company tried to talk you into renting their higher priced box saying the card doesn't work well, etc.

To get the box do I still need a cable subscription?

I would love to get this but the cable company I have where I live doesn't have a lot of channels.

All cable company's are a bunch of rip offs.

thanks . wish we had that years ago when my mom bought a new tv after her old one died . the set said cable ready but comcast said no it was not. so we had to pay for 2 cable boxes . these were the old fashioned kind with the push buttons.

The link is in my head :) Windows Media Center (in windows 7) is free and included.

Confused...you're still paying the monthly fee to the cable company (mine is Cox), right? Is this just about getting a box that is more advanced than the cable box rented to you thru your cable company or getting free cable? Also, I don't see answers to the many questions I also have listed below.

I bought my own modem and it works just fine. Only have to pay for the service. As for the internet connection, if you want to get guide data and set things up properly, yes, you'll need an internet connection.

Try just plugging in your TV to the wall. You may be pleasantly surprised. In my AO, analog is actually still on, (yes, I have TWC). Here in Pullman WA, analog and ClearQAM are alive and well.

According to the Comcast web site that I just checked: Will I be charged to use a CableCARD? The first CableCARD in a retail CableCARD device is free to Comcast customers. If a second CableCARD is needed for the same device (as is the case with certain older model TiVo devices), a charge will apply.

We have digital cable in my area available without a cable box for regular channels along with analog and digital for 22 and below but you need some kind of box or cable card for premium channels.

I think I mentioned that it was around $2.50 a month. You can't BUY them you can only rent them from your cable company. They price for cards is different for each provider. From free to around $5 a month, but ALWAYS seems to be much less than a cable box and DVR monthly rental. Good luck!

renae gray it’ll give you whatever you subscribe to with your cake package. You just won’t be using their equipment. This video is rather outdated though since most cable companies have apps now.

There are websites and things for boxes like KODI that let you see ANY station you want, except maybe HBO etc, however a guy in the USA set up a business like that and he was shut down by the US Govt. Most of those sites offering FREE TV online are doing things illegal and will eventually be shut down.

The landscape HAS changed a lot since I made this. With different TV services coming and going every few months, it's difficult to keep track. Even KZreadTV which is a pretty good service has changed it's price around 3 times in the last year... it's all very tricky.

BUT they tell you "A cable card won't let you watch scrambled channels like HBO, etc". And they used to argue they didn't have a Cable Card or have to give you one, but on the TV's sold in 2005 that had Cable Card slots in the back of the unit had a sticker telling you that was bs. However now days most TV's sold don't even have a Cable Slot anymore, probably because the big cable companies are paying MFG's to NOT offer tv's with Cable Card slots anymore. My LG 32" has one but I've never used it.

I can afford cable but what made it bot affordable is the $90. service fee and other charges.

We cut the cable out and are saving 81 dollars a month using a TV Antenna and a ROKU however I wish we could get at least 4 channels we miss. They won't just sell us what we want.

Merge tv and internet with moca.

That "smart cam or smart card" goes INTO the Home Run instead of the tv (in the back of the tv), how many streams at ONCE it can support over AC wi-fi, and i hope u can watch your channels over the internet from the Home Run box, and finally, what maximum resolution supports locally and over the internet ??!??!??

I’m sick of paying over $200 a month for cable only to get infomercials all day. I’m cutting the cord.

That's actually not true check your bill.... It's included in small print you don't pay 2 lease it... But they charge you to keep it active... Over here it's like $3

Any inside or outside digital TV antenna will work to pick up free TV just like you did before you subscribed to cable, FIOS, or satellite. You can virtually use just about anything for an antenna, including an extension cord. You will not be able to pick up any cable channels, only free digital channels in your area. Cable cards aren't free either.

Correct. I go over that in this video. I also have a video for people who want DVR with an over-the-air signal that you're referring to. However, depending on location, signal strength and channel availability may vary and you might find that "virtually anything" won't cut it and you'll need an amplified antenna.

Comcast charges you 10.00 for you to use a cable card, also for TiVo.
