Well back in the day he was just another liefeld mercenary character designed to be "cool" for the 90's. Ands what's 90's cool? Robot arms. Scars. Glowing eyes. Muscular muscles with more muscles. Tacticool pounches. And the obligatory BFG. To say nothing of where he comes from, a war torn post apocalyptic dystopian future was just as popular when I was a kid as it is now. Time travel is cool and the terminator was big.

Yeah. To be fair, he wasn’t actually a real character until the late 90s early 00s when he would use guns and his mental powers, turning himself into a one man army.

I thought he was just a time travelling, indestructible cyborg. Had no idea the cyborg part was a disease.

They actually explained that when Sinister created X-Man (Nate Grey), he also put it into his dna that Nate wouldn't survive past his 21st year. His powers didn't kill him off.

5:37 virussen don't die from the heat of fever. But fever helps lower glucose level, making the virus reproduce slower. Giving the white blood cells and antibodies a better change.

Cable is ever changing because of all the time travel

Glad that over the decades the writers made him make sense... kind of. I mean, a virus that isn't deadly until it transforms your body into a living machine version of itself... then you just have a much shortened lifespan (months) instead of dying immediately. Some people in Hospice would demand to be infected by that, on top of let's just ignore the WTF aspects. Stryfe and "unifected Cable" are BOTH what Cable would be without the techno-organic virus... but are so different in ability you would swear they are not based upon the same genetic template. The oxymoron type status of the techno-organic virus really makes sense as a Mr. Sinister thing, but not in how it's currently understood. It has potential to make sense in some future writer's creative mind because it's just pure absurdity as it is now. Given Mr. Sinister's enigmatic nature and skills, him using that virus to bio-form people into being his minions as some form of cousin-race to him would make sense... or any number of other Mr. Sinister future potential plots. Given Cable's power, and the virus infection/transformation rate, him fighting the virus far better and far faster to the point of defeating it within hours is only because of his lack of knowledge. I have decades of these things bouncing around in my head, not just what I saw, but what dozens of other fellow Marvel fans I spoke to over the decades. Most of us (my circle, not the world-wide Marvel fans) conclude that Cable, for one reason or another, does not WANT to be purged of the virus... from it governing his limits to him working to make it work FOR him as something he controls.

Cable is so bad ass in the comics

Cable after The Age of Apocalypse "90's" and during Onslaught saga was the best looking version of Cable imo

Think about it oh, he has the unlimited potential of Jean Grey with the pure undeniable power of Cyclops and if that wasn't enough he has telepathy and telekinesis his powers are so inexhaustible is that his body even as enhanced as it is cannot handle the unlimited nature of his powers

Yes Grimmis is his back story, it is what he evolved into, he is a good reason to make more Deadpool movies they are quite the team and many of Deadpool's stories would make less sense than normal without him, don't forget Stryfe*.

My favorite character, I collected all his direct comics, sadly I lost them in a house fire when I was 16. I also had a good bit of X Force.

The techno virus is a curse but also helps cable when he needs it Gives him super strength enchanted speed can use it to unlock computer And teleport also time travel But when cable old man had his full potential unleashed cable powers burn outs To quickly probably due to the fact he mortal. Stryfe had training to control his powers sometime I think stryfe don t use his full Potential due to the fact it will burn him out I remember stryfe control hope summers mind to copy stryfe powers when she Did she couldn’t t control it the powers of stryfe turn her into a bomb But with the techno virus in cable their was a Deadpool book cable lived pass One million yrs into the future techno virus can keep him alive long as Long as the virus don t consume him

Mr. Sinister saved Cable’s life by making him sick, is that right… I always thought Cylops just walking away the way he did was bogus but I’ve never been a fan of his anyway.

Cable has us juggling our stick in Marvel vs Capcom 2.

It really bugs me when they cast actors that are not anywhere near tall, or big enough for the character they are playing. Josh Brolin, amazing actor, his talent is there with some of the best, he is about an entire foot shorter than Cable should be.

Apocolypse infected him with the TO virus cause Nathan would have been too damn powerful as was shown in Xmen 2099. Most of his power keeps the virus from spreading.

Youd figure they would show him use telekinesis even just a little in his combat and stuff.

So, I was a comic book nerd in the 90's, when Cable was first introduced, and I remember clearly that even as 13 year old nerd boys, we thought that Cable was made as a joke. He was literally everything over the top, so many pouches and a gun that's half as big as he is. Also, they would change things like which eye had which feature from issue to issue, which fed into our perception that Cable was a joke and a dig at the grim dark everything over the top super X-treme! 90's dude attitude that had taken over comics after the very first "Death of Superman" was released. This was also our opinion of the comic cards, and the speculator bubble, it just all fit together to make Cable appear to be the perfect send up of the attitude that was corrupting comics. Okay, so what happened? When did everyone start taking Cable seriously? Am I just remembering this wrong, because I was fairly certain that this was a mainstream opinion at that time. However, I was 12 or 13, so what the fuck did I really know about anything? Does this track with anyone else's experiences?

we also thought that Forge was pure asspull every freaking time. He would just show up and make a gun that magically countered the new unbeatable baddy of the issue. It was so frustrating to see the same one note character doing the same one note song every single time. Luckily, though, It was just about time for Spawn to show up and save comics for everyone.

To be honest, Cable and Wolverine as characters started to piss me off so much since Nicieza’s and Lobdell’s Fatal Attractions, where they both were savagely destroyed but nonetheless kept aliva. To me that is still one of the most futile and ridiculous moments in comic history and actually why I stopped buying them.

If you're a cable fan because of MvC2 and the 1990's X-Men series like this.

Apocalypse gave it to him. I remember they actually teamed up to fight someone else. Apocalypse said he admired Cable, and would actually cure him if he wanted to be. Cable said no. I could be wrong with how he got it. But he absolutely could have taken the offer.

you have really weird phrasing and not so right statements "introducing a Nate Grey, a clone from Cyclops and a clone from Jean Grey" - that doesn't even make any sense (2 clones?) nor is it true. He's artificially created kid from their genetic material.
