Can’t tell you how much this series is helping to bring it all together for me. I’ve done this with my Dad many times, many years ago. He’s not around to ask anymore so I’m picking it up now. Can’t thank you enough.

I am a retired carpenter and I learned from a very young age if you keep your hand as far back on the hammer as you can you allow the weight of the hammer do the work.

I too have health issues that slow me down so I hear you when you say using a smaller hammer works better for you. Sometimes others need to walk in our shoes to understand how difficult it is to do things the way we have always been used to doing them. Slow and steady my friends , you will get there in the end. My late Hubby and I built our own house board by board and nail by nail. We did a little bit every day and yes, it did take us a while but we got there in the end and enjoyed our time together as a family working on it. The important thing is remember, you are doing this for you guys and nobody else and have fun doing it. Love you guys. God Bless. Sandie

Very interesting, Danny & Wanda. It's something so fulfilling when I actually help my husband do a project - it actually brings you closer. My husband used to be in construction & shot a lot of grades. After he retired, he made the mistake of loaning his expensive transit to someone & it came back broken!

The lowe's cheverolet ran great today. We had a great set up with batter boards and strings. The crew was great. Tractor almost drove itself.

Danny, my Dad built our house using string and squaring the building up, but Eric has used your method and a complete circle leveling system as you spoke of earlier especially inside when Eric would hang drywall, etc 👍👍👍👍

I find it helpful especially in gravel soil to drive a steel pin in the ground then remove it to make a pilot hole for the wood stakes.

You use whatever size hammer you want. Whether it be (just because) or (injury).

i dont work in the "trade" but if i look at something i know if it is square or level or parallel or etc... If if i "dig" a footing or foundation I can see/feel if it is level. So that is my job, I always tease my hubby because if he has a shovel he DIGS hahaha he cant just smooth an area off Nice you get to do what you love one more time.

Hey Danny, have you checked out the Honey Do Carpenter? He is building a rocket mass heater for Dirtpatch. He is using something called "air crete". I've been examining the uses. It's VERY interesting. With your construction background, maybe you should take a look at it. I think it would be easy for you. Like to hear your thoughts on it.

i new to your page, i enjoy your video...have spent the last few hours watching...even joined your facebook group. You are such a greater teacher...have you thought about consulting...selling your knowledge to beginner homesteaders...beginner builders or those wanting to build cabins or tiny houses? They do all the work...you just provide oversight and instruction?? Others around the country would come...pay affordable fee...glean from your knowledge and wisdom. Why does the code require you to have a 2x10 girder under your subfloor framing?

Hi Danny & Wanda my mom was wondering why your building an off grid cabin thanks

If you drop the floor down, wouldn't it make it much harder to crawl under the house to make any repairs down the road? I think I would rather have the extra crawl space, and might even use it for some storage space also.

The bottom of the floor joists will still be 17 inches high. Plenty of wiggle room.

you would never drive a woken stack into my red clay, the stack would be distord before you goy it in 4 inches, that's how hard my ground is, iv had to use all steel stacks, note using a water level you don't go out and buy a 100 feet of clear tube, buy 10 to 12 feet only and a male an female garden hose fittings to put on your 1/2 inch clear tube, and connect one 5 or 6 foot tube to each end of your garden hose tight so you have know leaks save your self a lot a head aces an put a shut off valve on the other end of the open tube so when you stop using it you can turn the valves off an not loss any water out of your garden hose or get an air lock, but make sure the valves are open when in use
