Cabin Air Filter Replacement on a 2017 Hyundai Tucson

The Hyundai Tucson's cabin air filter should be replaced once a year. In this video I'll show you how to do it yourself and save time and money. The owner's manual has the directions backward. This covers all trim levels of the Tucson from 2016 through 2018. It is a very easy DIY maintenance that any owner can do in a couple of minutes. The OEM part number is 97133-D3000.

If you have a 2022 or newer Tucson the procedure is slightly different. Check out my new video for it: • Cabin Air Filter Repla...

OMG! I checked my cabin air filter today and found a MOUSE NEST inside!!!! It was PACKED! BTW, I am a 52 year old woman doing this because my Hyundai Dealership wanted to charge me $50 for changing the cabin air filter and the air filter located in the engine! I did it myself!

Thanks! I have directions for the engine air filter at the end of the spark plug replacement video, as that one doesn't need replacement as often. It is possible for a mouse to get in to the cabin air filter. The top part is open to the area under the plastic cowl panel under the windshield wipers. I had to have my windshield replaced and I got to look inside after they took out the glass. I could actually see the filter - probably could have pulled it out from behind if I wanted to! The air flow into the car comes in from the cowl vent panel to that filter, then thru the filter to the blower fan which is under it, and then to pass over the heater core or a/c evaporator and then out to the ducts. So that filter traps anything solid from the outside. I would imagine that it gets wet regularly because water drains down thru the cowl vent panel under the wipers, so keeping the filter too long could lead to it becoming moldy - although the material is probably treated so it lasts a while.

You made a great video and thanks for saving me approx Aus $50.00 I had not changed the filter before and have had the car since new for 5 years, the cabin air filter may have been changed at least once before at the dealer. The only "trap for new players" was working out if my car was built in South Korea or the Czech Republic as the first filter I purchased was the Korean version and is slightly smaller by just enough to make it unuseable than the ones used in the Czech version. As we drive on the left hand side of the road our glove box is setup as a mirror image of the USA cars, the filter cover panel unclips on the right side but everything else you described was spot on, thanks again Bruce, you have earned yourself another subscriber.

Yeah, that's what I did....just not at first. I had never actually replaced a cabin filter located inside. I had a couple Fords with cabin filters - the older one was accessible from under the hood in between two sections of the firewall, and the newer model was under the glove box but getting to it was a major pain in the ass that i let the dealer do it. Leave it to the Koreans to design one that can be so easily removed! Interestingly, I had my windshield replaced recently on this Tucson and they had to remove the plastic cowl panel under the hood to access the base of the windshield and the cabin filter was exposed and looked like I could just pull it out from the engine compartment side! Nothing else covering it.
