Stripers are fun fish and they taste great too. Used to catch them on the American river dangling a baby squawfish from the bridge. Also had a spot in rio vista but all we caught there was dinks. In the American i caught less numbers but bigger and better quality

Great video as always. Me and a couple of friends want to charter a boat to go sturgeon fishing. None of us have ever caught a sturgeon. Who in the Delta or Bay Area do you recommend for a sturgeon fishing charter? Or do you ever take out charters? I appreciate your time and thanks for all the video you have done. Your videos got me started fishing for stripers a few years back. Anyhow thanks and any info is appreciated. Jd

Hey Nick do you know what sloughs would be good for a beginner kayak fisherman trying to catch striper in the delta? I have drifted minnows in the port of Sac, but I want to try casting for them elsewhere too. Thanks in advance!

For drifting live bait I would suggest patato slough in December. There’s gonna be boat traffic so stay to the sides to be safe.

South delta rarely produces this many stripers

PETA fisherman make no sense.. stripers are built like tanks, you basically never see sores on them (from lack of slim coat) water is cooler now so bacteria is way lower and these things are in the millions on the delta. You should see what happens to the slim coat when you fry them in a pan. 🤣🤣🤣

Caught 30+ fish in sherman lake yesterday but most were under 18". Did the bigger fish move or was I just on a school of shortys? This was in a span of 8 hrs and fished all over the lake

Nicks videos used to be great but he fell off hard. Had a ton of potential being one of the first KZread fisherman

I actually started in 2007 the sad part is KZread shadow banned my channel when the Google partnership started because I ran my own ads. At that point I focused on other social platforms, spokes work and lure design. In all honesty it was the best thing that could have happened for me. It’s given me the freedom to diversify my income and not bow to a company I do not have aligned values with.

Nice to watch but the fish handling is terrible. Slime coating get damaged due to the carpet, throwing fish back using bass grip can break their jaws....hmmm whats so difficult on releasing fish with more care instead of throwing them back like trash? Honestly?

  • @InformativeFisherman

Thanks, let’s address fish care. Striped bass thrash around a ton and will rip their mouths apart and increase their odds of gill damage if dangled or netted. Boat flipping and maintaining head control on marine carpet in reality is much better for them. As for the release smaller striped bass that did not exhaust themselves during the fight respond better to torpedo releases. Big ones that are tired we hold in the water and revive them first.

Stripers are tough and they're non native salmon eaters anyway. If they were trout I'd agree with your statement but if you watch his videos you'll see he knows how to handle trout.

With all due respect you’re misinformed in regard to striped bass. Boat flipping and maintaining head control is actually much better for them than netting or trashing next to the boat increasing their odds of gill damage. Also smaller striped bass respond better to torpedo releases. You can clearly see us tossing them into a nose dive.
