Thank you bro. I bought the new fob and did your method and it worked with starting the car and locking and unlocking. The trunk did not work but I will work on it. Now the next step is to cut the blade to match the trunk key. Great video. 👍

Thanks for posting this video, Kevin. We just bought a C6 last week. It too was originally from the US and brought to Canada. Our fobs also were like yours; one in metric units of measure and the second one in imperial that showed “Options Unavailable” on the DIC when I tried to personalize the settings for driver 2. I read the Owner’s Manual section regarding Canadian requirements so I did not attempt to reprogram fob 2 as I did not want to reset it (it is recognized by the vehicle so it unlocks/locks doors and trunk as well as starting the engine). Needing a third fob to reprogram was something I did not know. This video was very helpful.

US 2005 and can't get mine to go into programming. Tried 5,6,10 turns of the key.

It's not easy to get through this step. Just keep trying to turn that key 5 times in 5 seconds. Turn it HARD and keep trying. May take 10-20 tries.

If I bought a car that only came with one fob can I program a new fob? Or do I need to go to the dealer with my vin since you mentioned in the video you need 2 working fobs in order to program another?

If your car is a USA car you only need one programmed fob to program a new second fob, but if your car is a Canadian car you will need two programmed fobs to program a third fob. In Canada (Canadian Car only) if you only have one programmed fob and would like a second programmed fob you have to go to the dealer to have this done.

You can program an 2005 to 2013 key fob on your 2006 from my experience. I have done it lots of time for people. Tell the dealer to watch the video. The dealer is just saying that because the keys aren’t the same but the fob transmitter is. Hope this helps.

Mind blown. Spent hours on a 2007 Vette. Follow this procedure to a T and every single time turning the key 5 times the D. I. C does not ask for a fob. Even went as far as hooking up a scan tool and watching live data. The key switch is sending the active signal every time the key is turned to the BCM. The only thing that gets me anywhere is doing all keys lost, clearing them out. Then, the vehicle will ask for fob number one and accepts the one I have but it never goes beyond fob 1. Nightmare. There is only one key listed for a 2007. I even tried the 2008 key and that isn't accepted either. Just can't seem to figure out why this will not do on board adding of a fob.

How do you program a new fob if you have lost both of the old ones but have the key?

If your car is a US car you only need one programmed key fob. Most like your car is a US if you are in the US.

If your car is the Canadian model you need to have the Second key fob programmed by the dealer. In Canada you can only program the third fob yourself.

I just bought a 06 with one keyfob. Does this mean I can get the new fob for back up? I am in the US and the car was always in the us.

Ok so I got the answer, if the car is a manual transmission, it needs to be in reverse for the car to go to programing mode!

I also did it with 5 and it did not work. I went to my local Ace Unlock and they helped me. 1st my back ups were locked to other cars (previous) so they would not program & second they turned the key 6**** times and the dash changed for learning. It was programmed in 2 seconds. This video must be for a specific model only.

No, I never got it working.

In my 2005 was a lil different... After turning the trunk key 5 times I got a message fob autolearn wait 10 minutes and start to count down to 1 minute ...after that it says off acc to start again and yes again ten more minutes in total of three times the same process means 30 mins after 30 mins of wait it will show you ready for fob 2 and go on up to 4 fobs
