I just got done with this and it’s working great, I have an automatic and a few things have changed, the dip switch needs 4 and 5 down, 4 is optional, the oil detection wire needs to go to the constant 12v, but all in all I’m really happy with it.

It makes sense with the passive lock/unlock. Because if you had to use the fob to unlock/lock manually, it would be more inconvenient to stow the fob away again, instead of just inserting the key.

In 2005 I had a manager at tinseltown with a z06 just like this. The only additional thing he had on his was the ability to open and close the flaps on his exhaust which made the car louder or quieter. I think that's what it's called but my uncle had a similar deal on his boat only he had a switch on the console and not a switch on his key. Super bad ass feature.

I have a c5 automatic . I see a couple of things on why I couldn’t do this in my car . There is a cable on back of my ignition switch for my shifter so it will allow it to shift when car is started. Also I don’t think I need column lock thing that problem is mostly manual trans car also I have blinker bypass for hyper flash . If I am incorect please tell me. I also installed the same radio with your help thank you. Couple of mild critiques the most important part of the whole installation was the ignition switch and you didn’t film it and also the lighting could be better you did this also on the radio install. This was not ment to attack but for information for the future videos. I’m 69 years not very handy but I learn a lot from your videos please keep up your good work.

Once you remove the existing ignition switch, the black cable can be removed from the ignition switch and stored up and out of the way. Just insert the key and turn it on, push in the tab holding it in and it pulls right out.

Some reviews say that the module starts to glitch or crap out after some time. That’s kinda scary for me, if it happened away from home and doesn’t turn on or off. Putting the original ignition back in there could be the only fix, and imagine dealing with that, out there. Ideally, I’d love to be able to keep the original system in place, but just unplugged. And maybe put the new button somewhere else?

If you’re talking about the “pull key, wait 10 seconds” message, there is a way to manually bypass it. It’s too late this time, but should you need it again: With car off, pull hard on the steering wheel clockwise (put some actual weight behind it). While still pulling, start the car. The wheel will unlock. I used to have a 98 coupe that would go through those locks like candy. After replacing them a half dozen times, I eventually just lived with doing the bypass method. That was before there was a way to permanently disable it. (I just picks up an 02 Z, so I’m clicking around to see what new options are out there.)

Everything I dislike about the C5 can be fixed which makes me super stoked now. Well, haven't searched backup camera yet but hopefully that can be done too! Question though, does your Amazon seats solve the C5's issue with the rocking back? Watched some videos saying the factory seats rock back and fourth from braking and gassing. Thanks for your content man. I'm 41 and have wanted a C6 since they came out. However, after buying brand new vehicles, I want something older .....can't best the C5 IMO after mods like headlights, push2start,shifter and column. I've heard tires are difficult to find for stock rims so maybe I'll go with C6 z06 wheels or something. I prefer to keep it GM and not aftermarket although there's some sweet aftermarket wheels out there. Subscribed and watched many of your vids in the past 2 weeks. Love it man

I have it wired as you have, I hear the module click as if it is going to engage but the trunk does not release. Interesting.. hmmm. No mine was plug & play just like how I wired it up. ( I was shocked that everything worked on the first try) perhaps a faulty release actuator with just really crazy timing for it to fail? If you are hearing something clicking you are definitely getting a signal. There is a small chance it's getting an extremely weak signal. Perhaps look at the green to black connection? Other thing could be a grounding issue somewhere. These cars can be headaches for grounds. Does the switch still release the trunk? (The button on the dash that is)

So you’re telling me this system works without issues for you? I’ve installed 3 of these so far and all have had various issues typical of Chinese electronics. Like the passive keyless entry just randomly locks and unlocks constantly while I’m in the car.

Not saying this is a perfect system nor am I endorsing the product. It has its flaws for sure. For one the directions are trash and the main reason for making the video to help others out wishing to install one (this brand or not). I deactivated the passive key system after a few weeks as it tends to have a good battery draw. I just use it like an ordinary key fob now. So far so good with everything else. I'll do an update in the future for sure.

I'm still in the box opening part, that pad is to make it so you can still start the car if the battery is dead in the remote. You mount it where you can set the remote down directly on top of it so it can read it.

Is it REALLY that difficult to turn a key, ferchrissakes??!!! I've had my C5 for almost 20 years, and 125,000 miles. STILL don't miss pushbutton start. Car has too many buttons as is ferchrissakes!!!!!

  • @formula112967

One of the reasons I bought a C5 was because it DID NOT have a push button start.....these make doing simple things like jump starting the vehicle a lot of trouble, and other reasons.

@@VetOnVettes the Moronic part was unnecessary, but he is referring to the grommet in the door. You went outside of the grommet but through with the rest of the wires. It could technically damage the insulation of the wire over time since it is pushed by the grommet into the edge of the metal
