C2C - Cycling from Whitehaven to Tynemouth UK

In September I cycled the C2C - from the Irish Sea at Whitehaven to the North Sea at Tynemouth. I did the journey over 4 days, the first and last being half days of cycling. The two main days were through the Lake District from Lorton to Little Salkeld, via Keswick, and then across the Northern Pennines from Little Salkeld to Consett.
I rode a Kona Sutra bike, with two Ortleib back panniers and a Vango 2-person tent strapped to the rack. I filmed the ride on a GoPro mounted to my handlebars.
You can read about the trip and find the route on my website at www.jamiemchale.com/journal/c...
00:00 Leaving Edinburgh
00:22 Whitehaven to Lorton
01:21 Lorton to Little Salkeld
03:27 Little Salkeld to Consett
05:51 Consett to Tynemouth

Since my comment below I have ridden the Way of the Roses, camping along the way. Absolutely brilliant way to travel and see your country 🤗

Did the C2C four times in my 30s and 40s. Just turned 60 and this has inspired me to do it again - although some intense training might be required!

Thinking of doing this in the summer with my 8 year old over 4 days possibly 5. How much is paths and how much is road?

It's a bit mixed between path and road, but generally good. Roads were mostly quiet or non main roads. To get the exact profile you can check my Komoot route: www.komoot.com/collection/1675642/-c2c-whitehaven-to-tyneside The vibe of the video is fairly accurate. Some bits of Penrith I went off route to find food, so busy streets.

Main tough bits are in first 2/3ds. I guess if you did it over 4 days be bit nicer for your child unless their the next Tom Pidcock or Zoe Backstead.

The sailing club tynemouth North side or little haven South side of Tyne. Doesn't actually matter as you dip your back wheel in Whitehaven Harbour.. so similar. I don't actually know care done c2c in a day twice, it's all about the bike 😅

Hello Jamie I loved your video of the C2C. Would you consider emailing me with the route you took? I’m considering organising the C2C run for my wife’s birthday next year. She would love to do it. I fully understand if you don’t wish to email it. Thanks
