Cortez said this when he refused to attend the destruction of the last CABAL A.I. Bunker. It was his way of saying: No CABAL for me you were never an enemy that fought me honorably at the battlefield but just a mad machine that went full murder hobo! I will NOT give you the honor of attending your last stand/execution! You thought you are superior to us? Well for me you are nothing! A piece of trash not worth my time!

Man, CABAL was really tough for an AI. RIP Tratos...

The people on GDSS Philadelphia had no idea what's going on, they were totally cut off. The increased ion particle activity messed with communications. That is why Southern Cross assumed command.

@@raddox7 I haven't beaten Renegade but I know it takes place during the original C&C game before Tiberian Sun. Op must mean that back then it could be assumed from the final mission that CABAL was going to be an incredibly advanced AI, like the Dr. realizes in that moment.

It's been awhile since I've seen this, and seeing it again I've got to say that this is actually pretty cool!

“CABAL, what the hell?”

have a love/hate relationship with the Firestorm story. On one hand, I loved the characters from the previous campaign, and the loss of Umagon and the Kodiac was a bitter loss. On the other hand, I found Cortez to be a worthy successor, and the idea of GDI needing both CABAL and Nod at various points was an interesting twist. The missions were also more dynamic and interesting.

Cabal is a Skynet.

Funny thing is that in Terminator: Dark Fate, LEGION replaced SkyNet. LEGION is also the player character in Kane's Wrath. Both LEGION are A.I.

Awww yeaaaah dem Core defender just took out all bases I've captured before (whole map was red and even that wasn't enough ha) and even on second try it took out my lovely tick tank/artillery wall. XD After that I was overly prepared when I was playing as GDI and threw 40 disruptors on it...no joke it was that many...

I got lucky because I built a massive fleet of artillery right before that happened. It was the perfect defense because the massive volley of artillery would blow the ground up as it fell on cabal's giant robot's position, causing it to move much slower along the terrain. It was slowed down enough for the fleet to destroy it just before it breached the outer perimeter of my base

With my Nod playthrough, my stealth generator saved my ass from the thing killing my stuff, and somehow had the foresight to have banshees that did well against the machine. Took fucking long enough though. The GDI one I don't remember how I fought that thing.

I circumvent that by building disruptors. They could destroy Cabals core without disabling the firestorm defenses completing the mission without capturing the control nodes. When you play as Nod there is an abandoned GDI base that you could capture, allowing you to build disruptors eventually. Later at a replay I managed to destroy the core defender by sending massive waves of either Orca bombers (as GDI) or Banshees (when playing as Nod) at it.

because they have bad guys syndrome. And they haven't really lost every single war. Every war fought, with the exception of the first tib war, accomplished a hidden objective. second tib war led to nod having the tacitus and the knowledge to control tiberium. third tib war led to the scrin coming to earth. personally, i don't count the fourth tib war as cannon, because it sucks so much and westwood didn't make it.

Well, the soldiers failed at their job. That's why Tratos was assassinated. Which made the job for both soldiers and scientists harder without someone to translate the Tacitus or lead the Forgotten allied with GDI.

The security details failed at their jobs. I don't see how this has to do with the scientists, unless there was a person in charge of both the science team and the military. Yes, GDI was stretched, but as a military, you are given a task and you must do it. Excuses don't matter.

As we see at 2:40, the Kodiak crashes. But it's not clear if he's still commanding the ship. I think that in C&C4 (or maybe it was only in the novel), he's still around, probably teaching or some boring thing like that.

You find out that he survives by looking at an intelligence report that appears in the Kane's Wrath campaign. According to it, McNeil (Macneil? MacNeil? meh, whatever) retired but not before founding of the Steel Talons faction and, if my memory is correct, was a staunch supporter of the Mammoth Mk II and had a huge fit when the program was cancelled. Those 'intelligence data' report are actually really nice reads because they rap up a lot of the story lines from the previous Westwood games. However, where McNeil was at the specific moment the Kodiak crashed is not known.

spasjt According to spin off novel, McNeil was commander of 22th infantry division from the Orca Command unit, he participated missions in San Diego, Portugal and Australia, under General Granger.

spasjt That's where you're wrong, that's Havoc the character you play as in Renegade. He's a great supporter of the Steel Talons, the guy in command of that unit is not McNeil. Though it's the same actor who play Jake McNeil in Tib Sun.

If CABAL used as AI for AI arts, it can avoid stealing pre-existing pics from datasheets and can draw things from scratch due to use of computronium(in CABAL's case, Human brains wired together) for his CPU

Yes, but who has won Tiberium Sun (Firestorm) ? When you start with Tiberium Wars you don't know who won the previous C & C so with what end do you start ? If NOD won, then it would be more likely our atmosphere will become fully toxic to us but what if GDI won. It isn't easy to start a sequel if the prequel has multiple endings.

Careful lore nerds will try to use the hand wavy explanations of CNC3 where half of the fun interesting units in TS got thrown away (Sonic tanks for instance). Honestly I like CNC3 but I feel like it fell way outside of Westwood's vision.

Das Institut The videos in Firestorm weren't that great, true, but you have to understand that it was just an expansion pack. The fact that it had these was a miracle in itself. When people praise the cinematics, they usually refer to the Tiberian Sun ones, which have much higher budget and production values. They also show more than a couple of people talking to each other. Intro for GDI - you get space station scene with the voice of Darth Vader, you get some field action with McNeil, desert shots, etc. You also get a lot of CGI scenes with the actual in game units, something that's almost completely absent from the later games. Nod intro - cool shot of a dead soldier, an awesome TV show broadcasting live execution, Oxanna storms in with the soldiers and kills some guys, Slavik shoots the traitor with no hesitation, etc. Not to mention that TS had actual player characters, McNeil and Slavik, who both had personalities and even arcs, even if they were rudimentary (McNeil learning to love something other than winning, Slavik getting the Brotherhood back together and getting his revenge on McNeil), while in the newest games there's nobody to root for. You're just a camera people talk to, and none of the characters are interesting to observe, they literally do nothing but talk.

u kidding? tiberium wars' kanes mask isnt even holding on his head properly, wildly swinging back and forth, and the set generally looks super cheap, nod soldiers wearing baggie pants and adidas shoes wth. at least in tiberian sun, the set props they use dont look THAT cheap
