    I am a 79 year old man with 2 years of basketball eligibility left. I have decided to enter the transfer portal. I will be seeking a $1m NIL. Last year I averaged 20.2 points a game at the downtown senior home old timers league. I am currently scheduling visits to 5 top rated nursing homes. Wish me luck

    It’s sour grapes to bash Pope. He made the best decision for him and there’s nothing wrong with that. Am I sad? Yes? Angry? No point.

    They're in the transfer portal more as a default as the new coach hiring unfolds. Most will come back. Getting the right coach as quickly as possible to retain the top talent and add more is what's important now.

    Jonathan, as soon as he get his players interviewed, I'm sure he will address BY. I know BY is now my second favorite team.

    He ran away in the middle of the night & tossed a grenade in the door as he left. Now the paramedics are left to deal with the mess. He was a builder at BYU & now he’s a maintenance man at Trump Towers & I really liked him as a builder.;

    That's what happens to every program when a coach leaves . Cal did the same to us

    BYU should have hired Mark Madsen rather than Mark Pope. In my opinion, Madsen is a better coach, but now that opportunity has been lost. Hope BYU can find a great coach.

    @@JusBellAndAri Sadly, you keep repeating the same nonsense when you clearly have no clue about BYU other than your preconceived bigoted biases. Can you name a player or any person that has had religion forced on them at BYU? You can't because it doesn't happen! BYU has had athletes and students of many different faiths over the years, including 3 Muslims on the current team. Ignorance breeds hostility, and you clearly excel in this area!

    A basketball coach in the real world, cares about the moment! It doesn’t matter how a player or fan base may feel about it a coach will use a school to get a better position … it’s sad but true

    A great 5 years? Pope did well this past year, but other years were mediocre at best. No conference championships, no NCAA Tournament wins, no great accomplishments.

    @@staleydu1 They did have a great team that year, but the players were primarily inherited from Dave Rose. I'm actually a fan of Mark Pope, and believe he is a great guy and think he could become a great coach. However, I don't believe he has proven himself as a top level coach yet. He was not the first choice of Kentucky by any stretch, but rather the default because everyone else turned the job down. It's a great opportunity for him, but he better win quick or he will be gone. Time will tell, but I think he could have had a longer career at BYU where he could have really built the program. This really sets BYU back. BYU needs a BYU guy who isn't just looking for a stepping stone. Pope just lucked out at the right time, but I wish him well.

    @@Kimmer I think I agree with most of that. The loss of burgess a couple of years hurt Pope. And I think you’re correct, is he a top level coach? I don’t know, 2 seasons fiinshing at 5 in the WCC would say no. But he’s a good coach with a dynamic personality. He’ll be missed for sure

    @@JusBellAndAri Wow - Mormon haters trolling basketball comments too? It would be hilarious if it wasn't so pathetic! Any evidence for your ignorant statement? BYU has had great players of many faiths over many years, including 3 current players who are Muslim. But you better watch out - now that Mark Pope is at Kentucky, he will forcing his religion on all of the players, and the entire state of Kentucky!
