Bystarters first used on Honda Scooters., Heater warms expanding wax, expansion closes an enrichment valve, uses stator power for heater, first seen on Honda scooters in the 80s, bystarter function, how bystarter works, testing a bystarter, diagnosing bystarter issues, Harvey Spooner, 7_31_2018,

Hey Gilbert!!! When the Bystarter works, it is amazing.... It is like I want one on all my stuff, unfortunately, most of the stuff I work on is junk coming back from the dead, the electrical systems are trashed and I'm trying to eliminate all the problem areas...Thanks for the info, Ur thoughts, watching, and commenting!!!
Hey Harvey, I have to say that this was one of the bst videos that you have made for a long time. I learned a lot from it and my son who is just starting to like to work on toys and cars said that it was a awesome way that you described and showed how it worked. I did have to explain the stater but luckl you have done a great video on that as well so I wish that I could give you more that just the two thumbs up ( one from each of us ) Have a great day !
Its got wax inside. As it warms. It expands and a seat valve opes or closes respectively.Just unplug it it moves 3/16 in.
Hay Harvey... Great video. Good information.
this video is awesome! I have a 1985 (first year) Honda Elite CH80. I think my bystarter got gummed up over the winter or failed. Manual choking with my palm gets it to turn over. I think for $10-$20 this is a replacement worth trying. I disassembled the existing one and cleaned it + the feed straw, but couldn't determine if it had failed.
Great tutorial videos.
Great video!
Replaced this and vacuum petcock both with manual screw/valve, way better. Less stuff to go wrong, no surprises, better control, lean out way sooner than waiting on this thing to eat through my fuel during winter.
Harvey, great info comes out of your videos! I have this same setup on my Eton 90cc. I do not have AC power to it coming from the stator. I think I have an open somewhere. All other stator wires give me proper voltage. Do you by any chance have an open stator to this setup for us to view? Thanks again bud.
They use these devices to close the outlet on the ice dispenser on our fridges. They call them a ‘heat motor’. I had to replace one once in my fridge which is how I learned about them.
Great video. I wish they wouldn't make devices like that.
Hello, i have a question. I got one (brand new) of this in my Honda elite 50cc. The bike dont start. I didnt wired the bystater yet. Could this, make my bike dont start? I not have battery only the kick.
Harvy how do I hook up the resistor for the choke does it have a plug in the wireing harness? Or were can I wire it in to to make it work. Love your channel you are so helpful and you seem to know every thing on the China motors Thank you for your channel

Hey Ross, U will probably have to hard wire it.... The resistor goes between ground and one side of the choke heater, (bystarter), the other side of the bystarter goes to one of the yellow stator wires, (does not matter which one, just pick one though), thanks for asking, watching, and commenting.... I hope this helped!!!
I just use a propane bottle with torche adapter, makes an old willy jeep idle butter smooth on an ice cold morning :)
Which model carburator is this i wanna see this carburetor service video
The only way my Honda Ruckus (49cc) will accelerate is with a rag stuffed in the air box, my research points to the enrichment valve. It all started when I hit a pothole. Any suggestions would be appreciated
I have a buggy and the electric choke wires aren't connected to anything...and I dont see and stray plugs...but there are wires cut here and there on the harness...my question is wht does that plug connect to??
mine runs good when warmed up but when cold it wont start,i have to cover the carb with my hand so it sucks in gas to start.
How would u hook up auto choke on a 4 pin cdi
Hey. Am I missing something here? Around 15:05 your saying this is a 12v dc unit, than talking about 25-30v ac on it! Can you clarify this? Thanks

The stator on a bike puts out AC volts and the choke is run off of the stator.
Is the choke on or off when the lever is up or down can tell me I forgot on my rm 100 dirt bike thanks
