Former Army Ranger Loston Carter wanted to show his wife just how effective less-lethal Byrna chemical irritants are in stopping a threat and sets up an at-home demonstration.
In the driveway of their home in the state of Washington he gave his wife a Byrna HD and stood twenty feet away as a live target. She shot him three times with the Kinetic projectile and then once with the Byrna Max loaded with the proprietary pepper and tear gas blend.
“As former military and having been subject to CS gas and understanding the effects that that can have on a body - how quickly it’ll stop you from doing anything. I wanted her to understand what the effects were in shooting somebody, not just on the person but on herself as well. In one of the videos you can hear her coughing. She’s twenty feet away down wind. Her coughing right away instantly gave her the understanding that this is going to suck. That’s what this is about - stopping anybody that’s coming at you.”
The Byrna Max projectile had burst on impact with his chest and the cloud of chemical irritants immediately entered his system.
“The snot starts coming out, the eyes are burning - it hurt more to open my eyes. The burning - that was twenty minutes of me being blinded not being able to see. And that was with constantly flushing my eyes with water. The residual effects from the pepper and
CS was stuck in my nasal passages and that kept coming back for hours. I can tell you for sure that anybody that gets hit with these things they’re going to be feeling it for a few days. I got some great bruising going on right now.”
“That 300 feet per second… you definitely feel it.. Go for the chest - it’s the closest thing to the nasal passages and that’s where we want that CS going. I’m going to be training with my wife and getting her used to shooting at the chest area.”
“That kinetic ball is probably going to stop them or at least get them to rethink what they are fixin’ to do.”
Loston had researched all the possible non-lethal self-defense options before finding the perfect fit.
“I think everyone should have one. There should be one in every household - you can’t go wrong with getting this thing. Protecting yourself should be one of the most important things in life. We know that not everyone has the willpower or fortitude to pull the trigger [of a firearm] and possibly take a life.
“Honestly I’ve been trying for the last five years to get my wife to carry a Glock. We are a Glock family or 1911 family. I grew up shooting at a young age. Being prior military, that was just a part of my life. Until we came across a Byrna, we never found anything that was suitable out there that could still keep the distance of a would-be attacker. Byrna! Can you please film a test of the effectiveness on someone wearing layers? Also post shot procedure in terms of legality would be nice

Ok let’s keep this real for a second. Did I just watch this guy get shot from 20 ft and barely flinch then grab his shirt and lifted it up to his face to feel the effects of the chemical irritant? Byrna this demonstration is not going to convince people to purchase! It takes less than 5 seconds for an attacker to travel 20 ft and this guy just took 2 seconds to bend down to get a whiff. I would have told the couple to work on shot placement and make it look some what effective before publication. What are you guys thinking? Byrna is a good product and I own one but this just makes me want to rethink my purchase…

I have to agree with this comment, i own an sd and seeing the his reaction upon impact makes me re think my purchase. Guy did not even flinch upon impact ad literally had to breathe into his shirt to get the chemical effect
Bought my byrna yesterday at the Big R store in Colorado
I carry my Byrna for self defense only. People are mental and I want to go home safely. So many people look at my size and think I'm an easy target but my Byrna will protect me. ✌🏾&🤎

I have a Byrna. I'm going to set up practice time for my wife and I. This is a great self defense option. In the future I will buy another one for my wife.
Get your production up so these don't run out of stock on a continuing basis.
I’m a trucker and I travel coast to coast. My options for self defense seem to be limited by different TSA port locations and varying state laws. What are my options? God bless and keep everyone safe.
Pointing a loaded gun at someone is a punishable offense...is this exempt from that law ?
If I'm carrying one, I'm alternating kinetic , pepper, kinetic, pepper. Can you imagine getting slapped in the face with a hardball and getting peeled back, then smacked with the hot sauce.. damn bruh, that open wound full of it... Yikes....

I have seen many videos on this, and it looks great so far. But I have not seen a video where they simulate an attacker running or coming at a person. Everyone is just standing there. Have you used it in a situation where someone is running up on you? I’d like to see a video on that
Hell yea. I have the pistol and the Bryna TCR and I just ordered the Mission 4 Rifle, but I ain't gonna go for the chest cuz I'm more of a headshot person. I'm pretty sure a couple shots of kinetic and Tear gas rounds to the head should do the trick. Maybe a couple to the temporal lobe when they are blind and coughing just to be sure
i use my mags loaded with a solid kinetic round on top followed by four max CS/OC rounds. first one is a stunner and the four max rounds are used to stop the belligerent aggressor. take all five of those to the face will be bad for the bad guy

I know I'm nit picking here, but the gentleman in this video is an Army Ranger which is indeed a special operations forces unit. "Special forces" is specifically the "Green Berets". Again, I know I'm splitting hairs but there is a difference that means something to some people. Good video otherwise though.
Would he use it in a gun fight with ISIs? I didn't think so Keep it.

I know ,a guy...He took 2 guns off Vietnam veterans that were Crazy and had Sportsmen Gun Permits in Long island Suffolk N.Y..They Carried there Guns like " Law Enforcement Full Concealed Carry".......They, had Mental illnesses and the guy had Video!...They, pointed there Sportsmen Gun Pistols and were Shot by this Byrna guy!!...Now, the guy has 2 guns and rounds in his possesion!...The, guy a Commerical Truck driver that had experienced many Road rage incidents!!! ...The, Story he told was amazing and the laughter!...I'm, still laughing!....But, the guy knows how to shoot ....So, if you cant Shoot dont bother!..But ,hearing it the funniest thing!!!..The, Army Veterans with Mental Illnesses did Report incident!!..Because ,there not subposed to have Firearms!!...SSD /Mental Illnesses...The ,Laughs from other guys hearing the Story!!!...Liberal Government at its Best!!!😆😁🤣👍When, I see the Truck driver around..He says want to buy a Gun!
