Oh my Jamaican sister I can't thank you enough for teaching me how to bypass the humidity sensor on my Frigidaire 70 pt dehumidifier 0 honey you just rock I've watched your video over and over😊 you made it look so easy... But it took me a lot longer than it took you;-) but I finally attempted it I've had the unit for 6yrs now it's actually my second one and I wasn't about to just throw it away... I called her all around to talk to maintenance people at appliance stores they just encouraged me to come in and buy a new one but there was no fix I saw the same error code and it stopped working... So I spent $300 twice so I was damned if I was going to throw it away 🤔 ur teaching video on bypassing the humidity sensor was INCREDIBLY WONDERFUL 😊 I have to admit It took me so much longer to do what you did it was hard-working with those hair like thin wires you showed how to strip and bypass the sensor ... It took me another two months to actually plug the unit in I was terrified of being electrocuted😮 so I also waited for my son to come over so I would have the courage to try it and OH MY LORD Honey# I felt so damned proud of myself that I got it to work it's the most self-esteem I've had in my and I am 67 and 1/2 years old and never felt prouder of myself so I am sending you good karma for ur incredible video huge 🤗

Thanks Chrissy. Good video. I fix machines for a living (not these). Your technical an logical approach is better than some, and as good as many repair people. If your worried about it staying on for ever and over heating, you could always plug it into a timer. The timers plug into an A.C. electrical wall socket, and you set the on and off times on the timer. Thanks again.

Thank you Chrissy! I bought a used dehumidifier years ago that ran, but didn't collect water. Apparently if the full bucket sensor gets wet, it always think it's full and stops collecting water? My husband somehow bypassed the sensor and it collected water again. I'm not quite sure how it knew to turn off when the bucket was full after the sensor was removed, but it did. So for $15, we were able to use a $350 unit. By the way - I ADORE your voice and your accent. I could listen to you all day long. ❤️

I have a similar model, and had the humidity sensor fail. Just to get it running again, I removed the sensor and replaced it with a 20K resistor. Now it always thinks the humidity is 70%, lol. But at least I can run it on continuous mode. Thanks for showing an even easier method for people!

Thank you for posting this. It is certainly rare information, indeed! It's almost like General Electric (that's who makes these, no matter whose name is on the outside) doesn't want us working on them! Just throw it away and buy another one. That's the way of the world, anymore.

If you contact Frigidaire, they may send you a new humidifier because of the code. It’s worth a try…. I had a F0 code. They sent me a replacement in 2019. Recently, the replacement started with the F0 code. Now they are sending me another new one. They send you a form to fill out and send back. That easy.

This only applies if you bought the dehumidifier. However, if you purchased the house without the receipt. Frigidaire will only reimburse up to $50 on a prepaid Visa card.

I hope you realize that once you bypass that sensor, the dehumidifier can't detect what the current humidity level is in the room. The unit won't be able to tell when it's dehumidified the room down to your desired level and shut itself off. The humidity Up and Down buttons are now useless and the dehumidifier will run f-o-r-e-v-e-r because it can no longer figure out when to shut itself off.

Thank you for the comment, quite helpful. And, i think you may have realized that i am lower than an amateur level in doing these fixes. That said, importing these machines to Jamaica is beyond costly so, coupled by the fact that i could not find a repairman with the experience to fix this issue, i really had to take my chances.
