FYI, I've now created a collection of hand-printed narrowboat art in my shop: www.etsy.com/uk/shop/CarpentersDaughterGB
One of the best things about KZread is getting to know, and following the journeys of people with talent, who can point a camera, and talk into it. Both of which I'd be awful at doing. Been on the journey with you a while now Vikkie, and this is a major major step forward. Congratulations. Bet your parents, both sets, are proud.

Hi Youve been a massive inspiration to me. I divorced my husband and brought my own home. Like you I just don’t have the funds to pay traders so I’ve learned myslef. Ive changed a drain cover, tiled my kitchen, laid a gravel patio amd most recently converted part of my garage. Insulating plaster boarding, stud wall amd laying and insulating a floor. Thank you for the helpful videos and giving me the confidence to learn and do. I’m so proud of myself! I’ll be excited to see your boat transformation! Lou

I love the back story and I love how you've succeeded. Hard work, smarts, & persistence to pay off. I look forward to seeing your continued success. I'm contemplating selling the project house I've been living in and improving for the past 8 years. The market in Denver, Colorado is insane. It makes me want to cash out. Thanks for posting.

Good luck with the new adventure. Having spent 14 years living on my Narrowboat I don't regret it one bit.......... its been brilliant. Unfortunately my adventure on my boat has come to an end and I've recently moved back to dry land. Enjoy the waterways and the friendly folk you'll meet along the way.

Thanks so much! Do you regret moving back to dry land? Also, I can't believe how lovely our narrowboat neighbours have been so far at the mooring. We're not they're all the time - just coming and going here and there doing repairs, but what a very welcoming community it's been so far and extremely helpful - esp rainy day plumbing over the weekend 👌

We’re collecting the keys to our new house in a few weeks. It needs work, a lot of work! This will be the third time we’ve bought and moved and in the past we’ve always paid through the teeth for tradesmen, however; thanks to your videos, I plan on tackling the majority of the cosmetic work myself! You’ve really inspired me with your videos. Good luck for your future x

Last month we build a deck in the garden, and your channel has been a great inspiration for this! Congrats on the boat, keep us updated will love to watch all the renovation!!

You and your husband have I think made the best move as to saving cash, off the grid is the way to go, obvious we still have to pay out but narrow boating can be a bit cheaper, your a chippie comes in very handy, but both of you get into workings of the mechanics of the boat, saves moneynsolar panels and wood burner, myself and wife we got a kit Shepard hut and four out of seven days starting off living gradually not far off the finish then it's food growing is second stage, your husband got the right idea to live n a narrow boat , the way things are going you got a gold mine ,both of you keep digging away to better your selfs best of luck and envy your sense of adventure.
Well done to you both! Your ‘journey’ has been, and will be, an inspiration to many people. Thanks! After our two narrowboat experiences, we couldn't resist ❤ And I'll keep my eyes peeled 😊
I remember when I bought my first property back in 1999, I was lucky to buy unfinished build on a development that was struggling so there were deals to be had. My sister and her then husband bought a property in Pontefract which they claimed was expensive at the same time as I bought mine. They had a three bedroom new build with garden and had a two bedroom top floor apartment (loft space). I was in Croxley Green which is inside the M25 and has a tube line to London, they were in Pontefract which was commuter belt for Leeds. The moaned about the price and the mortgage even though they had duel income... the cost of the 3 bed detached house (1999) £79,950 the cost of my flat £129,500... with just me paying the mortgage. It is all about location but then if you look at properties in East Yorkshire (Beverly, Welton, Elloughton and Brough) they are initially not to far off the prices for the house we now have BUT East Yorkshire houses are bigger and the three bed semi near Junction 17 of the M25... easier access to major international airports, major rail networks. Maybe when the house surpasses double what we paid for it and retired we might downsize but out network is here now so... I guess when we die the house goes to a charity!
