they are NOT good friends, they are colleagues. NW does not want to play this songs anymore, since they moved on. Would be unfair for Floor. Anette is horror live. I saw her with NW in EXIT festival in Serbia and I honestly was upset that my band became this....with a not good singer.

I love how you handle this black periode from Nightwish. This is one of the songs they will never play again!

From wiki: In the video for "Bye Bye Beautiful", the four male members of the band are replaced by four female models throughout the verses. Despite speculation, Holopainen said in a Finnish interview that the female doubles in this video have nothing to do with the removal of Tarja Turunen from Nightwish, saying "It's just pure self-irony and rock 'n' roll". The four models are referring to the rumor going around the fans that Anette Olzon, the new singer, was chosen to attract more fans because of her looks. In the video, they make fun of the rumor.

"This is a diss song" LOL :))))) I'd say it's really delicate, like a spring breeze, compared to the next one, "Master Passion Greed" - I suggest you hold on to your seat for that one. Don't bother looking for a live version for that one, because there is nothing but the studio audio version. Look for a video with subtitles, because MPG is not just a "diss", but something (much) superior to a roast, I say. You got the "metaphor" well with the girls in this video, because among other insults, they were accused of choosing Anette (only) because of how she looks, so they made a video with many beautiful girls replacing all the band members in response :))) THAT is a diss.. Out of curiosity, check to be logged into your YT account when looking for the link lists, it might matter. And look at my account that has this avatar, not the one with the avatar on a blue background. That is an account without content.

Anette gets a lot of criticism from some fans but she is front and centre on their best and most successful albums Imaginerum and Dark Passion Play.

I have seen her recordings and while I agree you are not wrong you have to remember that Tuomas and the rest of the band were happy to have her with them for a number of years. Who knows, if she had not been ill on the American tour we may never have seen Floor fronting the band. Anyway, it is all old history and I notice you did not dispute my claim that she sang on their best two albums. Let us not fall out, after all we are both Nightwish fans.

Floor has never sung this song and will never sing it, because Tarja is her friend. However, Nightwish will never play this and other songs about this period of anger again. Not even "The poet and the pendulum" will ever be played again, Tuomas said that all the people involved have now changed and it would no longer make sense to bring out the now outdated anger and desperation again

Nightwish guys stopped playing this song live couple of years before Floor joined the band. At some point it clicked for all of them and they didn't want to do it anymore. They said that they will never play it live again.

This is not the angry song. Boys made the angry song, dedicated for Tarja’s manager and later her husband, who had a big part in that mess. ”Master Passion Greed” is an awesome song, but Yeah that one is the angry. It is the heavyest song Nightwish has made …still, one of my favorites 😁

Anette only made two albums with Nightwish, 'Dark Passion Play' and 'Imaginaerum'. They are both brilliant albums which utilise Anette's voice to it's fullest.

Lots of frustration let out here. About Annette - actually Anette doubled Nightwish's record sales, so she was very popular. Her voice were much more mainstream - and she is actually a brilliant singer. Her newer stuff (Dark Element) are great!

Anette is really good live when she sings the songs that were written within her range. Also, the two greatest Nightwish albums were written during here era I dare say! ☺️ Also, please check Scaretale, Anette is amazing in it!

It was Tuomas intension to get a completely different voice after Tarja. And the good part of this era was that it led us all to the current era with Floor who can combine both eras and singing styles as well as bringing her own.

Anette's voice can be heard in many songs that are now sung by Floor. The Poet and the Pendulum for example. Also try Left on Mars by Tarja&Marco!

The lyric part with the flower and tree is from a novel and the full quote goes: "you know full well that whenever we part, it will be no fault or wish of mine; the tree forsakes not the flower -- the flower falls from the tree." And the man says that to the woman he loves but thinks he cannot be with. Funny that Tuomas would include that

Because you do the 2 songs from just after the split, so those are quite raw, maybe you should do a reaction to the demo of the poet and the pendulum, were Marco does all the singing. It is as raw as it gets. The official video is 10 years after it all happened and for me Floors version is like the ultimate healing of the wound: it will never be played again after that healing!

One of the most beautiful Nightwish song Annette sing I will say Is (Eva). But yeah Most to Floor :).

I love this album

Back in the times when Anette was performing live, there was a huge discussion about the identity of Nightwish. It was crystal clear, Tuomas could not put out another album with Anette. So after dark passion play, 3 years later, a new album "Imaginaerum" came out. At first the album was disappointing, but as soon as Floor joined the Tour, it became the best performance ever, with its peak at Wacken 2013 and Wembley 2015, both recorded and available here. ... But i think Tuomas did the best he can in this situation, and no blame on Anette, she is great in her own way, but not with Nightwish.

That was exactly my worry when I first saw this! Have I got a Nightwish cover band instead? There is a video of how this was made...

Although i think Anette was the Nightwish singer with the less vocal capabilities, she is undoubtedly linked to a few songs that i think they are hers, and none elses. Most people will say Floor sings the songs from Anettes albums better than she did, but i just cant think of "For The Heart I Once Had", "Scaretale", "Rest Calm", or, above the all others, "Meadows of Heaven", sung by anybody else but Anette. She left her footprint on Nightwish history, and she deserves everybodys respect for what she gave to the band in a really hard moment.

Every singer has bring something to Nightwish evolution. With Anette NW has couple so beauty songs. "The crow, the owl and the dove". "Eva" for example. Anette' s studio versions are good. Live.... well... she might be under Tarja and Floor. One era anyways with good songs.

This is also the most played song from Nightwish for over 140 million views.

In part because this is (just about) the only version recorded, so the views are not spread over multiple vids. Also, if you would count the views to reactions to video's as views of the original, the numbers would shift dramatically. I'm quite sure the revenues YT assigns to GLS are quite a lot higher than the revenues YT assigns to BBB. Never the less, you are right in pointing out: no one should dismiss this song or Anette! That viewcounter is real.

Their creative mind while triggering each other in that era was something awesome, looking now from time-distance. And they gave the world beautiful songs and a masterpiece. Tuomas: THE POET AND THE PENDULUM (the masterpiece), BYE BYE BEAUTIFUL.Tarja: I WALK ALONE, UNDERNEATH, UNTIL MY LAST BREATH. A death brought them in touch again after years (time and pain heals everything), while Tarja and Marco are sharing the stage around the world right now, having also made THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA again (no comparison with their epic first appearance) and a new song (interesting). This IS the ‘good’ version. Floor has never sung this song. She wouldn’t, she and Tarja are friends. P.S. don’t make the mistake to assume that Poet and the Pendulum is about Tarja’s dismissal, it’s not. It is about the turmoil and all the hate that Tuomas received after that. Angry fans blamed him for it even though it was a band decision. It drove him into a deep depression and he wrote Poet and the pendulum to overcome his depression.

When I saw your first NW reactions, I thought you were just one of many superficial reacters who never get the true depth, meaning and magic of these songs. I was wrong and now I really appreciate your reactions and how you understand the band and the background.

Thanks for the reaction! This is the best version of Bye Bye Beautiful. And like others have mentioned, this song has been of the setlist for years.... already since Anette was still in the band. I love the albums that Anette was in. The two albums are one of the best ones. I like Anette's voice, but her charisma on stage isn't on the same level as Tarja and Floor's. But think about it, Anette was stepping into filling very big shoes. She had an immensive pressure on her shoulder. Some of the fans treated her poorly just because they didn’t want to accept that Tarja was no longer the lead singer. Tuomas has said that he chose Anette over hundreds of other candidates. He chose her because her voice was the complete opposite of Tarja's voice. But still, Anette had to sing a song about their former vocalist... that she probably has never even met. And this song was their first single with Anette as the singer. Tarja's singing is not all operatic, not even in Nightwish. But you can hear that more in her solo career, which I highly recommend watching and heearing. She changed quite a lot. And I highly recommend you to react to Tarja's song Diva, which was about her departure from Nightwish. The live version from Circus Life (2020) concert is the best one. There Tarja uses a lot more of her chest voice. This video here also includes the lyrics. This was my favourite Nightwish song until Greatest Show came along. I was so worried in 2005 when Tarja left the band, but I love the album that came next so much. I love all three Nightwish singers, and it's my dream for the scars to heal enough to see all three of them on stage together one day. It'll probably never happen, but I can dream. Hi Lanae, I think that to be really fair about all this situation in Nightwish's history you should, if you want, listen to a couple of Tarja songs to know about her feelings about the "situation". One is Diva ( the title says it all) and there is a beautiful version in Circus live from Bucarest. The other one is Enough. There is a fan video Live from Ostrava 2008. The video is ok, the audio not so good but it's interesting because Tarja looks really pissed. If you want to watch them I suggest to read the lyrics. Thanks for your reactions.

"Master passion greed" is one of nightwish's heaviest songs. A not so loving dedication to the husband of Tarja, who had been a big part of what drive the wedge between the band and her. By the title you can imagine where it is going.... They never played it live - I got free feeling 8t simply war something that Tuomas had to get off his chest at that time and he doesn't want to revisit that sort of feeling. You should check it out, and it's Marco singing on that song, not Annette. I believe you already had checked those open letters, so you also want to check "Dark Passion Play", v it's quite intense esoterismo knowing the background. Tons was in a dark place back then, and he decided to commit suicide in a song rather than in real life (obviously the better option)

They deliberately went for a singer who was as different from Tarja as possible, to minimise comparisons. There's a great documentary about Tuomas from this period, called Maan Mainiot (it's from a Finnish TV show of that name, with subtitles), in which you can really see how low he was feeling. 😬

The next one might be a light shock and it will be a proof that Nightwish can do anything they like.

Floor will never sing this dirty song about his friend, even reading lyrics makes you uncomfortable. Nightwish also promised never to perform this song live. Only thing is live version with Anette. Tarja also has two songs Diva and Enought about what happened, but they are more restrained.

It's great that you manage to research the background history of the band. There are a lot of happy moments and a lot of drama as well. The band also has a lot of videos that tell about the backgrounds of songs or albums. There is also a video for this song, I would recommend watching it. Floor is good friends with Tarja and will never do anything to hurt anybody !!!! She will never sing this and it is out of all of their systems now in fact Marko and Tarja have performed together recently . There was so much stick aimed at Tuomas and he was accused of hiring Anette simply because of her looks hence the girls in the video . By the way Anette is a fantastic but different singer try Eva , Meadows of Heaven or Slow Love Slow, Her new band The Dark Element and her solo stuff is more rocky . Floor is a wonderful person as well as the best singer on the planet .

Wait till your hear "Master, Passion, Greed"! By the way, there is no live version of that one either but a great fan made edit of it with concert excerpts if you have to choose one. These songs ring in a very ironic way today now that Marko is no longer part of Nightwish and has just recorded a song and toured with Tarja!

Anette was good on the two studio albums she appeared on. She was less impressive live although I have seen a couple of live videos which were pretty good.

From some of the NW lyrics you can deduct in hindsight it was a real problem to Tuomas, he had written songs only Tarja could sing. Those songs were now lost forever (or at least that is what he thought at the time). I can imagine that at the time when he selected Anette he thought: I'm not going to make that mistake a second time. He selected a singer that was not unique in her musical capabilities. Actually, Anette is quite a good (pop) singer. However she was not received well by some of the fans, because she was not delivering the same thing they expected/wanted. I've seen video's of Anette crying on stage while 'fans' were booing her. I think it gave her stage fright that was not helping her performances (to say the least), but maybe I'm just projecting. I've seen video's of training sessions that were way better than live performances, which supports this hypothesis.

Sorry to disappoint you Lanae, but this album "Dark Passion Play" has a lot of anger in it. "Bye Bye Beautiful & Master Passion Greed" will never be played live. Due to the feelings behind "Poet and the pendulum" Tuomas asked the sound engineers to mute the vocals in his earpiece. This song was played live on a few occasions and at the Wembley 2015 concert they played it live for the last time, ever. When you watch PATP check out Marko and Emppu at the end? See where they are standing and maybe you can work out why they are where they are? Don't want to say any more as I want you to experience the song without spoiling it for you.

In my opinion Anette had and has a great stage presence. And charisma. It was more her singing style live that people have a problem with. She has a good voice but to take over after Tarja and sing like her is impossible for Anette since she doesn't sing opera. And her two albums with Nighwish are amazing

I love the Albums with Annette, i think a lot was the intense touring schedule that nightwish had, and the fact Marcos voice overpowered Annette's.

If you want to hear angry words, try Master Passion Greed. That doesn't have music video and it has never been performed live, so you only have album cover, though.

Anette Olzon sometimes receives undeserved criticism, although she definitely has a more mainstream rock/pop vocal than Tarja or Floor, she is still a great singer.

Want Anette live? Take Scaretale and Slow, love, Slow. I prefer her to Floor. And then Storytime- There is official music video with Anette and live - with Floor. I think Floor was out of breath then. In addition, the I think the chhildlike voice suits the song better.

Tuomas decided to make this music video with all those beautiful women to get back to fans of Tarja, who argued that Anette was chosen solely for her good looks.

Annette is a great vocalist live, just some fans can't get over the fact it's not Tarja. There's a live video of Nightwish at Montreaux Jazz festival with Annette singing. Definitely worth checking out, and then you can decide for yourself what you think of Annette singing live.

A mere tater before Master Passion Greed! Nightwish don't do this song live. They're now over the emotion that inspired it, the anger. I don't think Floor ever did it.

You didn't find a live video because they are hardly watched compared to Tarja or Floor. The best for me and at the same time the most untypical for Nightwish: Nightwish - Slow Love Slow live Montreux Jazz Faestival 2012 HQ But mostly it was different. Anette turns someone who feels like nobody into a happy song: #🎼 NIGHTWISH 🎶 Nemo 🎶 Live at Gampel Open Air 2008 🔥 REMASTERED 🔥 You've already seen Tarja, that's Floor: Nightwish - Nemo (Wacken 2013) As always, there were sexist accusations: Nightwish only chose Anette because she is young and good-looking. In response, they showed what the cast would really have to look like if it were just about looks: They would all have to be women. Nevertheless, the same accusations came when they switched to Floor. The big flip was the problem. Since Troy was appearing as a guest musician at the same time, a folk singer would have made sense. Instead, they decided on a jazz singer. Commercialism probably won out over art and that ended in disaster for everyone. There is no version with Floor. The song was only played on the first tour with Anette. Musically, I regret that, but in terms of content, it is understandable.

In my opinion the best songs to listen to Anette are Slow Love Slow (that one REALLY suits her voice) and Scaretale (one of Nightwish's most underrated songs - it's a proper work of art)... Official Music Videos for both. Anette is not the best live woth Nightwish .. you notice the instant drop off in power and projection compared to Tarja and Floor. She's a great singer, just not Floor or Tarja. A number of songs had to be dropped from the set list for this reason. Just for clarity.. Poet and Pendulum must be the Offical Live version with Floor. Oh my God it's amazing... just don't expect to "get" the lyrics first time. They're typically quite cryptic (and very dark!)... so put most of your energy into the music on that.

Hi Lanae, as you have already read, Floor refused to sing this song, so irrespective of whether the band still wanted to play it, is entirely moot. The ONLY version of 'Poet' worth reacting to is the 2015 Wembley performance. There is a live version with Amette, but in my opinion, she simply murders it.

It is said (dont know if it is right) that the GODDESS asked Tarja if she has a problem with HER stepping into Nightwish.
