I hope this is sold everywhere on earth. The flagship model of BYD to get affordable EV's into the hands of the working class worldwide. I love public transit and bikes but sometimes you need a car...

Considering the depreciation of quite a lot of the smaller EV’s from legacy makers, I still think BYD will struggle to sell these if they are £20k. You can get a good one year old e208, Corsa, Mokka and MG4 for less than this with loads of warranty left.

Even if BYD launch the Seagull at its most competitive price, pretty certain insurance companies will hike up premiums.

For reference only, insurance costs is about the same as dolphins in China.

BYD will steamroller over European manufacturers. It delivers twice as much, costing half as much.

​@@hcw199They didnt want because proce was very high. With oil price rising and cheap ev in market, they will rethink. And ev sales is already growing worldwide.

Bearing in mind that the price of a byd seagull should be about £10,000. The price range should be 10 to 15000 pounds not 15 to 20,000 pounds it needs to undercut the price of the Dacia spring. I would not pay 15 to 20,000 pounds.

I saw someone get a 2016 Renault Zoe, with 35k miles on it for £4400 a couple of Months ago..... Clean as a whistle it was.

Won’t be anywhere near £10k, might get an entry level version around £15k like the Spring, but more likely to be closer to £20k. If they try to bring it in at £10k they’ll get slapped with big tariffs. Don’t forget we have 20% VAT as well.

I hope they don't over price it and make it less affordable. If the price is good I would love one of these. What UK affordable EV option is there? They don't exist. For the environment and climate change the government should help make the Seagull as cheap as possible.

The Seal U , Sealion 07 and Song L Suv will be hot EV for 2024. Hope it reaches UK and Singapore.

No, I paid 19,300 pounds for my MG4 Excite 51 here in New Zealand, it would have to be 13-15K.

If UK get this car, Australia should be getting it too. Would be Hyundai excel moment for BYD here in Australia

BYD’s BEV Q1 sales are up 13% year on year. They don’t sell equal numbers of cars in each quarter, so comparing Q1 2024 to Q4 2023 is not very useful

Yup, BYD sales is predominantly in the Chinese market at the moment which slows down significantly in Q1 due to the Chinese new year long break

What’s the expected price on the upcomming Citroën ec 3 in UK, just to compared the suggested price?

EVs are a great savings on foreign exchange from buying oil.

the -42% it's also caused by the chinese new years where everything stop for 10 days so delivery were delayed

It's somewhere between the Honda Jazz and an Aygo. Not as small as an Aygo, but not exactly the same as a Jazz. When you look at the inside capacity for luggage, wheel base, length and height. It's a handfull of centimetres off of a Jazz. But like you say, t's still fine. People like me don't mind at all if it's a Jazz sized car or an Aygo sized car.

I think I'd look at one of the newer versions of the Renault Zoe if I were spending £15k. Reliability is known and proven (10+ years in production) plus the Zoe is built to satisfy European tastes and expectations, and has an established dealer network.... I'd avoid the previously unheard of/unknown Chinese brands, at least until reliability and longevity is better known, and a dealer network is established..... Remember, it's much cheaper to learn by other people's mistakes.....

I would look to buy a small electric car £15K to £20K. Although i would like something slightly bigger - Yaris/Polo size. If the Dolphin which is a bit larger than the seagull could get into the £15 to £20K range that would be great. Toyota aygo can be £15K new so seagull needs to be £15k.

Small, safe , 200 mile range and affordable-whoever cracks that will sell in thousands!!! Dacia Spring (£15 k) coming in Autumn could be quite a hit?? Seagull should be same price imo.

Base model Aygo X is just over £16,000, so that’s their aiming point. For £20,000 I’d want 90hp, superior handling and split folding rear seats to give the new Suzuki Swift a run for its money (or a better specced Hyundai i10).

Cost and competitive means that tte rest of the car makers will have to bring there prices down to compete because the cost of electric cars are insane right now the moment that seagull lands in the uk am buying one

Byd is true car maker of the people for the people. USD 97000 seagull is the daily commuting solution for everyone.

A would defo buy it at that price but the uk will inflate it upto over 30k

8 years ago i purchased a new suzuki car for under 7k its still going strong now, the only way i ever replace it if i can get the same again like this electric but not over 10k id stick with what ive got.. i dont want some fancy looking expensive fast car to go from a-b itd just be a total waste of money thank you.. 😂

You sound desperate to find a reason for Brexit… it would be cheaper in the EU!

it should be £12k maximum for the top spec, there is no UK competition and there should be no tariff for saving the planet, i want a cheap EV and care about saving the planet, not helping british businesses
