Some pretty good piloting there as the battle seemed to swing against you. Great recovery!
Good showing in that fight but I'm not sure I would have taken it myself. It was a tough matchup in general for the Domi. It doesn't kite well and that's kinda the situation you were forced into. I'd want more fighter wings and PD for a fight like this. I find eliminate orders to be extremely high risk and I tend to use engage a lot more since it seems to offer significantly more flexibility to the AI with regard to how it engages a threat. I also tend towards cautious captains and pilot high speed flagships myself as a sort of cavalry. You also forgot to remove the eliminate order after the Enforcer died, which runs the risk of another ship picking it up. Not likely to happen in a battle like this where all your ships have other orders, but in a big battle it can sometimes lead to a conga line of death as idle ships decide to get bloody minded. One other thing you seemed to have underestimated a bit is the strength of a fighter wing, or six in this case. Your poor fighter jocks were outnumbered 3:1 which is a tough situation to be in especially since you really only had a single wing of broadswords trying to cover your daggers. This led to a situation where the Colossi were able to really put a lot of pressure on your flagship there and force you out of engagements. That said, the behavior of the Enforcer pilot seemed extreme. I think what happened is he was trying to flank around the shield and just neglected the other ships in the vicinity. Aggressive pilot? The Hammerhead did well. It's a good matchup for paper ships like the Colossi since it can crank up pressure so fast without worrying about sustaining the engagement. I probably would have kept piloting it myself, as the aformentioned cavalry basically relying on the Domi as a big brick of distraction but I'll admit I'm a pretty bad Dominator pilot. I struggle with lowtech as a rule though.

Yeah I had intended to use my enforcer to clear the colossus from the outset of the fight, maybe manually piloting if I had to, but I lost it early on. A few more ships and this would have been a much cleaner fight 👌
Personally ive always just had my entire fleet escort my anchor and it usually works better than micromanaging groups, it gets boring but its effective. That being said i never use carriers and usually have a 100% attack fleet with support just being more ships with guns

Good idea, when it doubt just escort. That said, I'm not so sure we would have won here if I did that. I think the micro, especially to capitalize on the flanking maneuver, was what lead us to victory.
Great episode, learned a lot.
Thank you for the video.

You're welcome, thanks for watching 👍
You should play your Dominator SO with PCL, Devastators and Heavy Machineguns since most of your ships are close range.

Oh boy I want to, but for the sake of education, I want to get away from SO builds.
Btw, I think they made changes on the reputation loss when commissioning with a faction. It seems like when a war starts you loose like let say 50 rep, but when the war ends instead of gaining 50 rep you gain only 40 or 45 back. I started a new game and I'm already at -25 rep with the Persian League, although I'm no longer in commission with the hedg, and I never fought their ships. I could have lost like 3-4 rep from black market trading but not 25...
I learned about Anchor ships recently. What I can't learn/figure out, is how to have my smaller ships/frigates to retreat towards it when they need to recover/relief before going out and chasing again. The smaller ships just seem to go around to the left/right edges, gets isolated then explodes because it did not retreat towards my anchor ship.

you might want to check your officer settings or fleet aggressiveness. if they're timid or cautious they will unintentionally corner themselves trying to avoid enemy ships.
