I wish I had the money for initial investment because some of these cars, this one included, if you find one parked and the owner has thrown up their hands and they think it's mechanically totaled, well shit if price is decent enough, and you got $3500 to fix it up, it could be a good return on investment. After he sinks 7k into it all tolled, and turns it around for 10-12k that's a good investment! Shit, even 9k on the low end and you still got a couple gs back. Not bad.

Great video, love how you're back to buying Hoopties that need work. You referenced the roof not working, remember to open the boot (trunk) and pull out the protective liner as when it's retracted, it de-activates a button to prevent the roof from folding down. Cheers
Watched the sat in traffic in My SLK32 . The roof issue, there is a cover in the boot that you need to pull over to allow the hard top to go down, if that’a not in place, the light will flash as it did in the video so the hardtop may yet work!

It's better than the slk55. Better MPG, high altitude performance, same power levels, lower weight which means more agile in turns, shorter lighter chassis with fewer gimmicks that add weight than later years. Removed all the old cellphone amps, GPS, cd changer, weird tire toolkit and some other fussy bits and lost 30 pounds in the rear end, going to shave even more with a lithium battery next. Doesn't sound like much but this car is 300lbs away from being able to pull 3.6-4.0 0-60 times. If I get a better garage I may try setting it up so that the roof goes down then I take off the trunk and remove all the roof gear to make it basically a sunny day only ultra light zoomer.
