Buying Queen Breeding Essentials: Mini Mating Nucs, Master Grafting Tool - PowerBlanket Bee Blanket

Ойын-сауық

Commercial beekeepers, Jose Uribe and Kelly Saelao, share a few new things purchased as we are gearing up to head into Queen Breeding Season.
Here we are bringing in an additional 548 styrofoam mini mating nucs. After a final count, we lost 370 to the bear damage in the canyon. We are needing to make up the lost equipment, plus do an increase. We cleared out our supplier and are waiting for more to be brought in to reach our goal of 1500.
We’ve also purchased 12,000 cell cups and a master grafting tool from Mann Lake. The cell cups we bought are black and red. We prefer black because we are able to see the larvae easier against the cup, but will be using red this year as well in order to differentiate the Italians from the Carniolans.
We also purchased a Portacool with 3900 CFM that cools up to 900 square feet. We are going to use this swamp cooler to help cool the shop while the mating nucs are being held there.
The PowerBlanket model we purchased is called the Bee Blanket. It maintains a temperature between 90-110 degrees. Depending on external temperatures and whether or not you raise the barrel off of the ground, a full barrel of crystalized honey is estimated to liquify in 4-5 days.
The honey barrels that we purchased were from Tudor Gurulea, owner of NorcalBees and Jessica Nickel, owner of Norcal Bees Honey Co.
If you are new to our channel, welcome! We are a small family owned and operated commercial apiary located in Northern California. We've been commercial beekeeping for the past 12 years, but branched off and opened Uribe Honey Bees in January of 2019. We specialize in queen breeding, honey production, pollination services, hive management and brokering.
Thank you for watching and supporting us! We love you guys!

I am not no big thing. I only have a small amount of hives. I started by catching swarms in traps in middle of no mans land here in upper mid west. Not sure breed of BEE but the Queens are black as a tire and so are the BEE. I raise a few Queens to keep myself going and give some to Locals who need. Every so often i give a hive to local people who want to start but they have to have their own Box. I do it as a hobby and i like the health it promotes from raw honey and a sting every so often. No i dont wear protection ever. Take care good luck and stay safe
